Cefn Community Council supplying free dog poo bag stations

Cefn Community Council has eight dedicated locations now regularly topped up by its Community Development Team. It means residents can conveniently access free bags to clean up after their dogs — a move that supports both public hygiene and the council's #StayOnSide Low Carbon Project, which aims to protect and enhance the environment through community action. Free Dog Poo Bag Stations are located at: 'We're proud to provide a practical solution that empowers dog owners to take responsibility,' Phil Vaughan, chairman of Cefn Community Council, said. 'These stations are just one example of the proactive steps we're taking to support our community and protect our shared environment. Clean streets mean a happier and healthier place for everyone.' The initiative is part of a wider environmental strategy led by the council, which includes community litter picks, planting wildflowers, promoting walking routes, and launching the #StayOnSide campaign that educates children about anti-social behaviour, including the impact of dog fouling. MORE NEWS: 'By offering free bags in high-footfall areas, we remove barriers to doing the right thing. It's a small action with a big impact on community pride and environmental wellbeing.' Residents are encouraged to use the stations responsibly and help spread awareness by sharing updates via local networks, including Facebook and X. The initiative is supported by Wrexham County Borough Council and Keep Wales Tidy which forms part of a broader low-carbon strategy to promote active travel, cut waste, and improve local biodiversity.
