The striker departed Rangers for Anderlecht on a free transfer in 2023 before his switch to Sweden.
Elsewhere, Davide Ancelotti is reportedly set to join his father Carlo with the Brazilian national team.
The 35-year-old has been widely linked to the permanent Rangers job over the past few days.
Davide will join his old man in South America for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay in June, claims The Athletic.
It remains to be seen whether Ancelotti Jr will remain as part of the setup after those games, however, as he has 'interest from a number of clubs'.

He said: 'In one respect, I'm surprised Rangers haven't gone for him. Because I think Shanks is as safe a bet as you're going to get when it comes to scoring goals in Scotland. 'What goes against him is probably his mobility. But for me, he's a really intelligent player now. He's a link between midfield and attack, as well as a goal scorer. 'It would be a free transfer but it's still expensive for Rangers to sign players who are scoring 30 goals a season. ‌ 'I'm sure Shanks will have some offers because for two seasons he's been unbelievable. 'Could he play in Russell's team? I think he could. From the moment I played with Shanks in Scotland to when I was coaching him, it was always about his intelligence. 'Where he picks positions up, he's got a real finesse about his touch. Then he's got that calmness in the final third that makes him different. 'I definitely think he could fit in. He fits a lot of the criteria for Rangers. 'Getting goal scorers who can near enough guarantee you 15-20 goals a season are hard to come by. And at the Old Firm they're very good to have around."

And Pogba has hinted that his return is imminent, posting images of himself training on social media with the caption: "I think it's time." Pogba has previously admitted he thought his career was over when he was banned, but he now hopes to get back to his best and win back his place in the France squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup. "Yeah, I had many thoughts in my head, I had so many thoughts to even stop playing," he said in an interview with ESPN last year. "I'm like: 'What am I going to do?' If it's four years, you start making the maths in your head. "Four years not playing, training — which club is going to want me? Would I be fit and stuff like that, you make a lot of pictures in your head. But on the other side, I had faith obviously, and I was positive. "I knew I didn't do anything wrong on purpose, so then thankfully that happened and they reduce it. We need to respect these players [in the France team], also that they're here and you have to respect that.
