West Ham's Michail Antonio makes first appearance in six months following car crash

West Ham forward Michail Antonio has made his first appearance since being involved in a car crash, coming on as a late substitute for Jamaica on Monday.
The 35-year-old came off the bench in the 85th minute but could not help his country rescue a 1-0 defeat to Guatemala in their opening game of the Gold Cup group stage in California.

Antonio's last competitive appearance was more than six months ago in West Ham's defeat to Leicester City on December 3. Four days later, he was involved in a single-vehicle collision, when the car he was driving struck a tree in Epping Forest.
He underwent surgery on a lower limb injury and spent four and a half weeks recovering at a central London hospital, returning to fitness ahead of schedule having initially been told his rehabilitation would take 12 months.
Antonio's future at the London Stadium remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire on June 30.
The player's camp have held talks with the club's majority shareholder David Sullivan and head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay, but no agreement over a new contract has been reached.
The club say his 'unique situation' means no formal decision will be made until the time is 'right and appropriate'.
Antonio joined from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and is their all-time leading Premier League scorer with 68 goals in 268 games.
Jamaica face Guadeloupe on Friday and Panama next week as they bid to make it out of Group C in the Gold Cup.

A 27-year-old from Los Angeles, Wright scored in the 84th minute of last weekend's opening 5-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, 11 minutes after entering. He did not play in Thursday's 1-0 victory over Saudi Arabia and the U.S. Soccer Federation said Saturday he will return to Coventry City for evaluation and treatment. Rafael Devers hits first home run as a Giant against Red Sox, his former team

It took seven at-bats, but Rafael Devers got his first hit against his former team. Devers clubbed a two-run homer on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox to give the San Francisco Giants a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. 🚨 RAFAEL DEVERS HAS HIT HIS FIRST HOME RUN AS A GIANT 🚨 — SFGiants (@SFGiants) June 21, 2025 Devers went 0-for-5 on Friday night in his first game against the Red Sox since a shocking trade on Sunday night that sent Devers to the Giants for left-hander Kyle Harrison and righty Jordan Hicks, along with two prospects, James Tibbs III and Jose Bello. Devers grounded out in his first at-bat on Saturday against Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello, one of his closest friends on the Red Sox. But in the third, Devers finally got his hit. After No. 9 hitter Andrew Knizer reached on an error from second baseman David Hamilton, Devers came to the plate with two outs. On an 0-1 four-seamer over the heart of the plate, Devers crushed the ball 370 feet to left field, 105.5 mph off the bat. GO DEEPER Devers is gone. Abreu is back. How will the Red Sox divide up playing time?

Rafael Devers hits first home run for Giants against former team Red Sox

SAN FRANCISCO — Rafael Devers hit his first home run for the Giants, connecting against his former Boston Red Sox team just six days after being traded to San Francisco. Devers began his first series against the Red Sox by going 0 for 5 on Friday night and grounding out in his first at-bat Saturday. He then delivered just what his new team had been expecting when he hit an opposite-field drive off Brayan Bello over the left-field fence for a two-run homer in the third inning.
