DJ SODA Shares Heartbreaking Hair Disaster; Alleges Threats From Salon Following Fans' Protest
Colouring your hair can be an exciting experience, but it does come with risks. The bleaching process, in particular, can be harmful and may lead to various negative effects if not done correctly. This is why K-pop fans often express concern for their idols, as many of them change hair colour with every comeback.
Even if you stick to one hair colour, the process of touching up your roots still carries some risk. Unfortunately for South Korean DJ Hwang So-hee (황소희), aka DJ SODA, her recent hair treatment didn't turn out as well as she had hoped.
Earlier this week, DJ SODA posted about her recent visit to her regular hair salon to dye her hair blonde for the first time in 3 years. It was meant to be a surprise for her fans, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when the salon accidentally left the bleach on for too long. 'My hair was originally thick, full, and in healthy condition thanks to a 3-year break from bleaching and consistent care. But they left the bleach on for too long, and my hair melted from the roots. In the end, I had to shave the entire back and sides of my head,' she said.
The musician went on to explain that the damage was so severe, she could no longer hide it when attending events and shows. She felt devastated as her hair continued to fall out in large handfuls every day, to the point where she had trouble sleeping for two weeks. 'I cried every day. It's really hard for me to look in the mirror. When I see videos fans took of me, I feel even more heartbroken,' she added. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the damage, she was unable to get hair extensions to cover the bald spots and could only use what's left of her natural hair to conceal them.
After sharing the news with her fans, many reportedly began protesting outside the hair salon. This led the management to contact DJ SODA in an attempt at damage control. However, rather than offering an apology, the company demanded that she take down the post. 'I received a message directed at my manager saying, 'I will give you 5 million won if you write a settlement agreement and take down the post.' [I want to make it clear that], even if I were offered a fortune, it cannot change my appearance now or undo the pain caused by this,' she said in a follow-up post.
DJ Soda explained that the salon had offered to provide a list of hospitals (under their supervision) where she could receive hair treatment. However, despite repeated reminders, they failed to follow through on their promise. She did not disclose whether she plans to take legal action, but if her claims are true, the salon could be in serious trouble for damaging the hair of a public figure.

Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images/File Photo (Reuters) -World number one Jannik Sinner has formed a new doubles partnership but the duo will be battling for chart success rather than Grand Slam titles after the Italian released a single with compatriot and opera tenor Andrea Bocelli on Friday. The three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner promoted the song titled 'Polvere e Gloria' or 'Dust and Glory' on Instagram. The video features footage from the pair's childhoods and more recent clips of the singer and Sinner, clutching a racket and tennis ball, in front of a piano in Bocelli's home in Tuscany. Sinner's speeches form part of the song, which is in Italian and English, with Bocelli in full flow. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," the pair wrote on Instagram. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, the U.S. Open and Australian Open champion, said he was honoured to be part of the project with Bocelli, describing the singer as a "unique and extraordinary voice" and "a flag for our country in the rest of the world". "I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It's extremely moving," the 23-year-old added. Malaysian Actor Fikry Abdullah Back Together With Wife After Divorce Fiasco
Yesterday (19th June 2025, Thursday), fans were surprised to hear that Fikry Abdullah's wife had sought divorce from the actor just four months after tying the knot. After much commotion, the pair reveal they're back together. Late last night, Fikry's wife, Khalizah Alihan, shared a photo of her and Fikry holding hands on her Instagram account. In her captions, she wrote, 'Thank you to everyone who prayed for our happiness,' assuring the public about her marriage. This post followed the recent issue where Khalizah allegedly filed for divorce from Fikry. This news shocked fans because the couple had only married last February. To recap, Khalizah appeared at the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Syariah Court on Thursday morning, which sparked rumours that she and Fikry are divorcing. After the news broke out, Fikry appeared at his hosting gig for TV3's 'Melodi' to clarify the situation. The 31-year-old denies the separation, saying his wife's appearance at the courthouse was to retract her previous divorce filing made in May. The actor also denied allegations that the divorce filing was a marketing gimmick. Fikry then assured the public that the couple was doing fine and would continue to work together to maintain a healthy marriage. Fans and netizens have reacted to the couple's brief separation, expressing relief that the couple are back together. However, the issue also sparked concern over Fikry and Khalizah's marriage. Many netizens argued that Khalizah may have filed for divorce because the couple had an argument, which left her in an emotional state. This speculation led to criticism that the pair lacked communication skills and that Khalizah didn't share her concerns with her husband before filing the divorce. As such, netizens are now advising the pair to be more proactive and communicate with each other more. It's good that Fikry and Khalizah have worked out their differences. However, we agree with netizens that they need to work on their communication. Nevertheless, we wish all the best for the pair.
