Elite 5-star and nation's No. 1 college basketball recruit announces Clemson offer
The No. 1-ranked men's college basketball recruit in the class of 2027 announced an offer from coach Brad Brownell and Clemson Tigers this week.
Small forward and consensus five-star recruit Baba Oladotun (James Hubert Blake High School, Silver Springs, Md.) announced an offer from Clemson in a post to social media this week.
Listed as 6-foot-9, 175 pounds, Oladotun is ranked as the nation's No. 1 overall recruit by both ESPN and 247Sports, the latter of which grades him with a 98 overall player rating and a composite recruit ranking of 0.9994. On3 lists Oladotun as the No. 2 overall player in the 2027 class behind 6-foot-9 North Carolina prep forward C.J. Rosser.
Clemson was one of several schools that Oladotun announced offers from this week. Others include fellow rising college basketball programs Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M, plus the Miami Hurricanes. This past weekend marked the start of when schools could formally begin making contact with recruits in the 2027 cycle.
Oladotun previously announced offers from blue-blood programs like Kentucky, UCLA and Michigan within the last year. On3's latest prediction has Oladotun committing to UCLA and coach Mick Cronin.

National media offer projections on Clemson's Viktor Lakhin being taken in 2025 NBA Draft
The 2025 NBA Draft is fast approaching, and Clemson Tigers big man Viktor Lakhin is among the players hoping to hear his name called Wednesday night at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. Lakhin, a 6-foot-11, 245-pound center from Russia, transferred to Clemson from Cincinnati ahead of the 2024-25 season and started 33 of the Tigers' 34 games. He averaged 11.4 points and 6.4 rebounds in 23.6 minutes a night while helping Clemson to a school-record 27 victories, including an 18-2 ACC record. Lakhin averaged 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists per game. The 2025 NBA Draft will consist of two rounds with 59 total selections. Duke guard Cooper Flagg is the consensus favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick. The draft will be held June 25 beginning at 8 p.m. ET and will be televised on ABC and ESPN. Here's where national media outlets have Lakhin ranked among the top 100 draft-eligible prospects and in mock drafts on the final weekend before the 2025 NBA Draft. ESPN projects Clemson's Viktor Lakhin as second-round pick by Clippers ESPN unveiled its final big board rankings of the top 100 prospects on Saturday. NBA analyst Jonathan Givony ranks Lakhin as the 51st best draft-eligible player this year. The latest mock draft from Givony and ESPN's Jeremy Woo have Lakhin being selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the No. 51 overall pick. CBS Sports' draft prospect rankings have Lakhin much lower at No. 75 overall. Yahoo Sports NBA Draft analyst sees Lakhin as potential second-round pickup Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor has Lakhin at No. 59 on his NBA draft big board. O'Connor's latest mock draft has Lakhin going to the Utah Jazz with the 53rd overall pick. Part of Yahoo's scouting report on Lakhin describes him this way: "He's a great positional defender at the rim, even though he doesn't block a ton of shots. And he's quite mobile on the perimeter with the ability to step out and recover to his man, or hold his own when defending shooting bigs." Clemson basketball: recent NBA Draft history There's a chance Clemson could have a new player in the NBA for the third straight season. Last year, the Denver Nuggets signed forward P.J. Hall to a two-way contract as an undrafted free agent. He made his NBA debut on Nov. 17 and played in 19 regular-season games for the Nuggets. Hall played in 13 games for the Grand Rapids Gold in the G League this past season and averaged 19.2 points and 12.5 rebounds a night while adding 1.1 blocks and 1.8 assists per game. Two years ago, the Oklahoma City Thunder selected Hunter Tyson in the second round with the 37th overall pick as part of an agreed-upon trade with Denver. Tyson played in 51 games for the Nuggets in 2024-25. He had 13 points and seven rebounds in 22 minutes during the Nuggets' Western Conference semifinals series against the Thunder. Prior to Tyson, Clemson hadn't had a player taken in the NBA Draft since forward Jaron Blossomgame was selected in the second round at No. 59 overall by the San Antonio Spurs in 2017. Social media reacts to Clemson QB commit Tait Reynolds ranking Top 5 at Elite 11
Clemson defensive end Will Heldt named a transfer who 'could swing' the Tigers' CFP hopes Tait Reynolds made the most of his opportunity on the national stage this week, turning in a strong showing at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles. The four-star Clemson quarterback commit competed against 20 of the nation's top signal-callers in a variety of skill drills and a 7-on-7 competition. By week's end, Reynolds was listed among the top performers at the prestigious event and earned high praise from Rivals recruiting analyst Adam Gorney, who ranked him No. 5 overall among all competitors. 'Reynolds was skilled, reliable and consistent,' Gorney wrote. 'The Clemson commit has a little elongated motion (probably from his baseball background) but he's a big, steady presence in the pocket who was exceptional on deep throws and the seam routes during the Pro Day.' Reynolds held his own in the 7-on-7 portion as well, completing 14 of 19 passes for two touchdowns. Event organizers also named him one of the top overall performers for the week. A rising senior at Queen Creek High School in Arizona, Reynolds is one of two quarterbacks committed to Clemson's 2026 class. Last season, he threw for 2,238 yards and 22 touchdowns with just five interceptions, while rushing for 1,437 yards and 19 more scores—averaging over 10 yards per carry. Reynolds is ranked inside the Top 250 nationally by both Rivals and On3 and considered one of the top 20 quarterbacks in his class. With his size, athleticism, and growing confidence, he continues to raise his national stock heading into his senior year. Here's how social media reacted to the showing. Clemson defensive end Will Heldt named a transfer who 'could swing' the Tigers' CFP hopes
Clemson offensive line ranked Top 10 heading into 2025 by two ESPN analysts CBS Sports recently identified transfer portal additions who could have the biggest impact on the 2025 College Football Playoff race, and one of Clemson's newest faces made the cut. Junior defensive end Will Heldt, a transfer from Purdue, was named the Tigers' most important portal pickup in the outlet's post-spring Top 25 feature. CBS Sports' Chris Hummer singled out Heldt as a player who 'could swing College Football Playoff hopes,' pointing to both his production and timing. The 6-foot-6, 265-pound edge rusher arrives at Clemson after two strong seasons in the Big Ten, and more importantly, he represents a rare step into the transfer portal by Dabo Swinney. 'Clemson finished last season ranked 59th in pressure rate, well below where you expect the Tigers to sit after finishing fourth, 22nd, 11th and 15th in that category across the last four seasons,' Hummer wrote. 'Heldt helps address that shortcoming. He posted 10 TFLs and five sacks for Purdue last season and should form one of the best edge rusher duos in the country with T.J. Parker. Plus, Heldt's presence itself is a bit of a swing factor in the playoff race. He's the first significant transfer take of Dabo Swinney's career.' Heldt played in all 24 games for Purdue from 2023 to 2024, compiling 68 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, and a fumble recovery. Last fall, he started all 12 games and was second on the team in both sacks and tackles for loss while ranking fourth in total tackles. Two of his best games came in back-to-back weeks against ranked opponents, where he tallied 2.5 sacks and returned a fumble 16 yards for a touchdown. Originally from Carmel, Indiana, Heldt was ranked No. 28 overall by ESPN among the top 100 transfer players this offseason. He was also recently featured in a CBS Sports breakdown of players 'most likely to make an immediate impact on the ACC' in 2025. With two years of eligibility remaining, Heldt not only fills a critical need for Clemson up front, but also marks a philosophical shift for Swinney — who had long resisted the transfer portal before adding Heldt. His arrival is expected to play a significant role in the Tigers' push back into the national spotlight.
