Man arrested over girl's suspected drug death
A man has been arrested following the death of a teenage girl in a suspected drugs-related incident.
The 15-year-old girl collapsed at a bus stop in Allerton Bywater after taking what initial tests suggest was MDMA on 6 June and died in hospital six days later.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning on suspicion of manslaughter and supplying a Class A drug and remains in custody.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "There is no suggestion of any wider risks arising from this incident, other than the inherent dangers of all illegal drugs."
Police were called to hospital at 18:59 BST on 6 June after staff reported concerns about the girl who was brought in by ambulance after collapsing on Leeds Road.
She remained in a critical condition and died on 12 June.
A force spokesperson said officers were supporting the girl's family and asked that "people show consideration and respect at what is clearly a very difficult time".

Search launched for West Lothian woman last seen outside Tesco store
A search has been launched for a missing West Lothian woman after she was last spotted outside a supermarket. Officers are appealing to the public to trace 30-year-old Leigh Groves who was last seen leaving Tesco on Blackburn Road, Bathgate, at around 8.40pm on Friday June 20. At least 8 dead after hot air balloon accident in southern Brazil
At least eight people are dead following an accident involving a hot air balloon in Brazil's southern region of Santa Catarina on Saturday, according to the local governor. 'We are all shocked by the accident involving a balloon in Praia Grande, this Saturday morning. Our rescue team is already on site… So far, we have confirmed eight deaths and two survivors,' local governor Jorginho Mello said on X. He said rescue teams were searching for other people as preliminary information indicated there were 22 people on board.
