2026 BMW XM Comes Exclusively in 738-HP Guise and Charges Faster

Car and Driver12-06-2025

BMW has dropped the base model from the XM's lineup for 2026, leaving only the 738-hp Label variant.
The XM will charge more quickly than before, with BMW upping the maximum charging rate from 7.4 to 11 kilowatt.
BMW will also offer a new Frozen Tanzanite Blue exterior color; production of the 2026 XM starts this August.
The BMW XM and its aggressive snout debuted for the 2023 model year with a 644-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, before adding the even brawnier Label variant for the 2024 model year. For 2026, the XM lineup reverts back to just one trim, ditching the base model and retaining only the 738-hp Label model. The 2026 BMW XM also receives a series of new optional colors inside and out, along with a faster charging rate for the battery.
Just One Type of XM
Since the entry-level XM is no longer, the combination of a twin-turbocharged V-8 and an electric motor will generate 738 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque in all XMs for 2026. The 4.4-liter engine is good for 577 hp on its own, while the transmission-mounted electric motor makes 194 hp. An eight-speed automatic transmission routes those motivating forces to all four wheels, allowing this behemoth to blast from zero to 60 mph in a claimed 3.6 seconds. However, in Car and Driver's instrumented testing, the 644-hp version leapt to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds; the Label is likely even quicker than BMW says. Top speed is limited to 155 mph, but opting for the M Driver's package unlocks a 175-mph maximum.

BMW
Along with simplifying the lineup, BMW has added a new optional BMW Individual color called Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic. The 23-inch alloy wheels can also now be had in Jet Black, and BMW also implemented a new "Welcome Light Animation" that displays as the owner approaches and unlocks the car.
There are three new BMW Individual interior color combinations for 2026. Two of these—Night Blue with Vintage Coffee accents and black with Vintage Coffee accents—are "full" Merino leather packages, meaning virtually every surface of the cabin is covered in the rich material. The last, Silverstone with black accents, is an "extended" Merino leather package, meaning some areas, such as the lower dash, do not receive leather upholstery.

Lastly, but arguably most importantly, BMW has increased the onboard AC charger from 7.4 kilowatts to 11 kilowatts, which will allow the XM to replenish its 26-kWh battery more quickly. BMW says production for the 2026 model year will kick off at its Spartanburg, South Carolina, plant in August, with pricing to be revealed later. The 2025 XM Label starts at $186,175, and we expect the price to rise only slightly for the 2026 model year.

Nothing Phone 1 gets a feature-packed encore before the final curtain falls

Oliver Cragg / Android Authority TL;DR The Nothing Phone 1 gets a new update with Android 15's Privacy space feature. Other additions include a Hotspot Manager, a toggle for face unlock vibration, and the June security patch. This may be one of the device's final feature updates, with no more OS upgrades coming. The Nothing Phone 1 might be nearing the end of its update life, but it's not quite done yet. A new software update is rolling out that brings one of Android 15's key features, with a specific tailoring to Nothing's UI. According to a post on the official Nothing Community forum, the update introduces Privacy space: a new secure area on your phone for sensitive apps and data. You can access it by swiping right in the app drawer, and it works much like the feature seen on other Android phones, requiring separate authentication and keeping apps isolated from the rest of the system. You can also set a different privacy password for both the new Privacy space and the existing App Locker. The update also brings a revamped Hotspot Manager for controlling connected devices, fixes an issue with the Glyph Composer lighting effect, and lets users disable face unlock vibrations via a new toggle. As expected, the June 2025 Android security patch is included, as well as other big fixes. This could be one of the last feature-rich updates for the Nothing Phone 1. Nothing previously confirmed to Android Authority that the device won't get Android 16, as it has already received its three promised OS upgrades. Security patches will continue for a bit longer, but new feature rollouts will likely start tapering off without the latest OS support. Initial user reactions to the Nothing post in the comments are mixed. Some celebrated finally getting Private space, while others voiced disappointment about ongoing camera quality issues they had hoped might be addressed in the update. Got a tip? Talk to us! ‘Am I Being Gaslit?:' Expert Warns Your Sunroof Drains Need Cleaned Yearly. Then He Shows Just How Big a Deal It Can Be

Vehicles require a lot of regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly. You know you need to get your oil changed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, tires need to be rotated, and brakes inspected. But one thing most people don't think about? Sunroof drains. Get the best news, reviews, columns, and more delivered straight to your inbox, daily. back Sign up For more information, read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use . It's one car part that people often forget to maintain. But ignoring it could cost you thousands of dollars in repairs. Here's what you need to know before a blocked sunroof drain turns your ride into a moldy, water-damaged mess. Demolished by Clogged Sunroof Drain In a viral video with nearly 500,000 views, mechanic Tyler Sale reveals the surprising amount of damage one car had because of a simple lack of maintenance. This can happen to anyone with a sunroof. 'Just your daily reminder to get your sunroof drain cleared out once a year. It prevents you from spending a good amount of money to get your carpet replaced and all this mold that's in here taken out,' Sale says. In the video, Sale shows that he had to take out much of the front interior of the car, including the carpet, seats, and center console, essentially stripping the interior down to the bare bones. There are dark marks under where the carpeting was, and Sale seems to say that they're not just water marks—they're mold. 'Bummer day for this customer,' he adds empathetically. What is a Sunroof Drain? A sunroof drain is a small tube that drains water from the sunroof to prevent leaks in your car. Most sunroofs have drain holes in each corner that feed into the drain hose. The hose goes through the panels of the vehicle's body to allow the water to escape. Trending Now 'Making It Personal:' Man Buys 'Lemon' Ford F-150 From Used Car Dealership. Then Her Order Comes in the Mail What Happens if the Drain Gets Clogged? If your sunroof's drain holes are blocked by dirt, debris, and leaves, they won't be able to serve their function of draining water. Instead, it'll accumulate in the drainage container and eventually spill into the cabin. This can also lead to potential electrical issues. Can You Fix It Yourself? While there are DIY fixes, be warned that you may end up disconnecting, puncturing, or otherwise damaging the drain tubes. This would then require removal of the car's headliner, which could be a costly mistake. If you do plan to attempt to clean your car's sunroof drain on your own, bear in mind that you should: Inspect your sunroof frame or consult the owner's manual to locate the drains; Pour water down the hole; If the water doesn't drain, use a string trimmer line from a garden trimmer or plumber's snake to clear up and push out the blockage. You can also use a toothbrush or other small, stiff-bristled brush to scrub and dislodge debris from the sunroof drain trough; and Pour water again to see if the blockage was cleared up. Warning: Do not use pressurized air as a solution. While this seems like a logical fix, it can cause the hose to disconnect. How to Unclog or Clean a Sunroof Drain If the problem still isn't resolved, then it's time to take it to a mechanic. Ignorance Isn't Bliss People in the comments largely said that they had no idea that sunroofs require this type of maintenance. 'Wait this my first time hearing we need to do that,' a top comment read. 'Never have I ever had a sunroof drain cleaned out,' a person said. 'Daily reminder not to have a sunroof,' another wrote. 'I barely want to put gas now I need to stress about this,' a commenter added. Motor1 reached out to Sale for comment via TikTok direct message and comment.
