Man arrested after series of distraction thefts in Nottawasaga region

Members of the OPP Central Intelligence Unit and the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested a man in connection with a series of distraction thefts in the Nottawasaga region.
According to police, a search warrant was executed on June 6 at a residence in Alliston.
As a result of the investigation a 40-year-old man from Alliston was arrested and charged with theft of credit card, possession, use, or trafficking of a stolen or forged credit card, possession of property obtained by crime, laundering proceeds of crime, fraud under $5,000, and fail to comply with probation order.
Police want to remind the public to be aware of their surroundings and protect their PIN codes when making purchases.
Police also say if members of the pubic believe they are victims of distraction theft or have any more information regarding this investigation to contact Nottawasaga OPP.

The SQ conducted a search with locals and the help of a nautical patrol, an SQ helicopter and Manawan police. The two men were found unconscious near their boat around 4:30 p.m. Manawan police pulled them out of the water and transported them to a dispensary where they were declared dead.

A 78‑year‑old Brampton man has been charged with stunt driving after he allegedly ignored a construction site flagger on Highway 17 west of Marathon Ont. OPP say they received a complaint on Thursday, just after 9:30 a.m. The man was charged with driving a motor vehicle while performing a stunt (excessive speed) and failing to obey a traffic control stop sign. Police did not name the driver but say they suspended his licence for 30 days and impounded the car for 14 days. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon on Aug. 11. The OPP is reminding the public to drive safely and report impaired, aggressive, or careless driving by calling 911 in emergencies.
