Pentagon's Flag Day post causes stir, did it mix between US and Russian flags?

Al Bawaba6 days ago

ALBAWABA - A post was shared on the X platform by the Pentagon has caused wide controversy on social media after people accused it of mixing the American flag and the Russian flag.
The buzz began when the American Department of Defense posted on X to celebrate the US Flag Day and wrote a caption: "Happy Flag Day! Let us honor the emblem of our nation and the stars and stripes that unite us all."
The post also read: "As we display our nations flag and reflect on the values it represents, let's celebrate the freedom, courage and resilience that makes our country great."

However, in the photo below, it read "Flag Day" with the American flag on the side, while on the two sides surrounding the sentence, people claimed that the department mistakenly added two Russian flags.
Meanwhile, despite the fuss regarding the photo shared by the American Department of Defense, some people defended it by saying the colors that were said to resemble the Russian flag are nothing but two dashes in the colors of the American flag (red, while and blue).
Many asked people not to overanalyse or exaggerate some things, and said this is nothing but a "silly design mistake".

Tactical US Nuclear strike on Iran's Fordow nuclear facility reportedly highly expected

Published June 20th, 2025 - 12:26 GMT ALBAWABA - According to a new story by Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich, the idea of using a mobile nuclear bomb to attack Iran's Fordow nuclear plant is still being thought about by U.S. military officials. The comment goes against what The Guardian said earlier, which said that going nuclear was no longer a says that a White House official denied what The Guardian said, saying that the U.S. military is still sure that conventional bunker-busting bombs will work to destroy the heavily fortified Fordow site, but that "all options, including tactical nuclear weapons," are still on the to an earlier article in The Guardian, former President Donald Trump had thought about using military action against Iran and had even planned to target the Fordow nuclear site. Several news sources have given different stories about what Trump wants to said that the strike plans are still being looked over, and The Wall Street Journal said that Trump has said he supports the operation but hasn't given the go-ahead yet because he wants Iran to stop working on its nuclear program on its own. The story did say, though, that the former president might put off the operation in order to try to find a peaceful highly protected Fordow site, which is hidden deep in a mountain, has been a point of disagreement in nuclear talks for a long time. It is thought to be one of Iran's safest nuclear sites and is said to have advanced uranium processing facilities. The White House hasn't said for sure what the final choice is, but on Thursday they said that a decision about whether to use military action against Iran should be made within the next two weeks. Trump delays war decision with Iran, leaves diplomatic door open

ALBAWABA- In a notable shift, U.S. President Donald Trump announced he will decide within two weeks whether to launch a military intervention against Iran, citing a "strong likelihood" of negotiations soon. Trump emphasized that any decision will weigh three conditions: necessity, avoiding a prolonged Middle East war, and ensuring the strike would eliminate Iran's nuclear program. 'A lot of space has been made for diplomacy,' said a White House spokeswoman, offering a glimmer of hope for de-escalation as European and Iranian officials prepare to meet tomorrow. 🚨 @PressSec shares an important message from President Donald J. Trump: "Based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks." — The White House (@WhiteHouse) June 19, 2025 Trump's latest announcement of a two-week window to decide on war with Iran starkly contradicts his fiery remarks just two days earlier, when he demanded Iran's unconditional surrender within 24 hours and threatened to target Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei personally. Despite the diplomatic tone, tensions remain sky-high. The White House confirmed that Iran could produce a nuclear weapon within weeks if it chooses to. The spokeswoman also praised Israel's military strikes for degrading Iran's infrastructure and leadership. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the impact of war on his own family, revealing that his son Avner had to cancel his wedding for the second time due to missile threats, and called his wife 'a heroine' for standing by him through years of turmoil. The conflict is widening beyond the battlefield. Iran has declared that Israeli media outlets are now legitimate military targets, warning that Channel 14, described as Netanyahu's 'propaganda arm,' will face missile strikes in the coming days. Israel's Broadcasting Authority confirmed that a forceful response is being prepared following Iran's unprecedented missile attack on the Soroka military hospital.

Trump talks to Netanyahu amid Israel-Iran tensions

WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a White House official confirmed Tuesday. Additional details on the conversation were not immediately available, but it comes after Trump convened a Situation Room meeting with his senior national security officials Tuesday afternoon as he weighs additional steps as Iran and Israel continue to exchange tit-for-tat attacks. The meeting lasted for roughly one hour and 20 minutes. A readout of the meeting was not provided by the White House, nor did Trump opine on it on social media. Earlier Tuesday, he said Washington knows "exactly" where Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is, saying he is safe "for now" while warning that "our patience is wearing thin." "We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now," Trump said in a social media post. "But we don't want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" he said in a follow-up social media post. The comments came just minutes after Trump claimed to have "complete and total control" of Iranian airspace. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed Monday that the US deployed additional military assets to the Middle East, a move he and other senior Trump administration officials have maintained is "defensive" in nature amid speculation that American forces could join Israel's military campaign. A defense official told Anadolu on Monday that Hegseth directed the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group to the CENTCOM area of responsibility to sustain "our defensive posture and safeguard American personnel." Regional tensions have escalated since Friday, when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes. Israeli authorities said at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks. Iran said at least 224 people have been killed and more than 1,000 wounded in the Israeli assault.
