SALFORD are battling to not lose Sam Stone to Warrington for nothing.
SunSport understands the back rower is claiming he resigned from the Red Devils and should be a free agent after refusing to play.

The Wolves are close to completing a swoop for the Australian, with angered boss Paul Rowley claiming talks have been ongoing since pre-season.
Now it is believed that rather than a transfer fee, Super League's basement boys are trying to negotiate a move that will see one or more players move in the opposite direction for the test of the campaign.
That would reduce the wage bill even more as salaries are taken care of by the parent club but would still give the coach options to select from.
Stone's imminent departure would make it eight top stars to have departed since Sire Kailahi and Curtiz Brown took ownership of Salford.
And Rowley fumed: 'On Saturday, he downed tools.
'I'm fully understanding of everyone's position, thresholds and tolerance but that situation really put us in a bit of strife.

'The manner of it's not good. There's a way of doing things and that's not the way. If you make a decision that hurts your team-mates then it's not a good decision.
'Sam's been talking to another club since pre-season, so now he's fit I guess that move can start to take shape.'

While Stone, 27, is next to leave, SunSport understands Kailahi and Brown claim as many as seven players may be coming in, if finance comes good.

So far, their ownership has been a disaster and Rowley has been forced to blood kids, with painter and decorator Sam Hill scoring a try against St Helens on Sunday.
And until money is in the bank account, he can only dream as he added: 'Until it's tangible and real, you're wasting your energy trying to make up a team of make believe players.
'I just crack on with the lads we've got.'

Andy Farrell hints at a record number of Ireland players for Force on Saturday.

Andy Farrell has hinted that he is ready to roll out the Leinster contingent for the opening game on Australian soil. And the prediction is there could be as many as eight Ireland players in the side - with the 2025 'gag' being rolled out - the scoreboard will show Ireland and British Lions! Essentially the focus for Force will turn to those who were unavailable last weekend and who arrived 'late' to camp following club duties. These include the dozen-strong Leinster contingent albeit Ronan Kelleher and Tadhg Furlong got a run from the bench - and did reasonably well - against Argentina while Jamison Gibson-Park and Hugo Keenan are still being tasked with light work Andy Farrell of the injuries holding Keenan and Gibson-Park back: 'We'll see how they pull up in midweek. Huw Jones is good, he's been training. He trained fully with us last week so he's up and running. 'We're here to build for what's going to be a fantastic Test series. We want to play some good rugby along the way.'We'll find out more about each other as we keep on going. Of course we'll analyse what went on against Argentina and why, but that's all part of the journey – to understand where we need to go next.'It's great to be here, this is what it's all about. We're here for a good time. Hopefully we can start this part of the tour off really well on further indicated Bath's out-half Finn Russell and loosehead Will Stuart will come into immediate contention following their Premiership Final win over Leicester Tigers whose secondrow Ollie Chessum has also linked up with the makes for 37 of the 38 players in situ in Perth, the odd man out being Scotland star Blair Kinghorn who, based at Toulouse, is still 10 days or so away from joining the party. Toulouse beat Bayonne 32-25 last weekend to earn a place in the Top 14 final against Bordeaux next Saturday (8.05pm local).Russell, Stuart and Chessum are expected to be named to start against Force while Garry Ringrose, James Lowe, Dan Sheehan, Tadhg Furlong, Josh van der Flier, Jack Conan and either James Ryan or Joe McCarthy are expected to be involved in the Smith is a front-runner to remain at full-back. Wales Tomos Williams is the likely have their own problems to contend with following underperforming at Super Rugby level, finishing ninth of the 11 was despite being placed half-way at the half-way mark albeit operating out of the easier side of the initial draw. Their wins came at home to Fijian Drua, Moana Pasifika, Highlanders and away at Brumbies while there was a home draw with by Waratahs on the last day of the season saw Force fail to climb above the 'Tahs to Simon Cron, who will also coach the Aus/NZ XV scheduled to take on the Lions at the Adelaide Oval on July 12th (the fifth game in-country) and directly ahead of the First Test, has been feeling the heat."A number of guys in our team have given their heart and soul this year," said Cron after the Waratahs defeat."We have got to look at how we can add people around them to keep driving us forward and how we can push forward the ones that are still learning to get more consistent performances."The core group staying together is important for the club. A big area of growth for us is our rugby brains in key moments. We sometimes make it a bit hard for ourselves but that's where they've got to keep learning."Indeed there was some thinly disguised relief when Joe Schmidt, having put nine Force players in his initial squad for the Lions series, agreed to release five of them back to the club for the Lions comprise veteran scrum-half Nic White, back-row Nick Champion De Crespigny, secondrow Dylan Swain, prop Tom Robertson and winger Dylan Ben Donaldson, full-back/winger Harry Potter, back-row Carlo Tizzano, secondrow and Force captain Jeremy Williams were retained by Schmidt.

GAA fans outraged after footage shows GAA stars urinating on pitch after game

Donegal stormed into the All-Ireland quarter-finals after a commanding home win over Louth on Sunday in Ballybofey. Jim McGuinness and his players were applauded off as they head for Croke Park next, and the knockout stages. However, some fans have shared their anger at members of the squad on social media after footage surfaced which appears to show players urinating on the pitch in the middle of a team huddle. "Love Donegal but this is disgusting as well as disrespectful," said one fan online. "That's an absolute disgrace," said another. "Surely a public order offence occurring right there," said one Twitter/X user. There were some quick to defend the behaviour, saying it is commonplace on sports grounds when players are unable to get in to the toilet and have taken so much fluid on board. Just last year, a Peruvian footballer, Sebastian Munoz, was sent off for urinating on the pitch during a match in Peru's third tier. In 2017, Salford keeper Max Crocombe was sent off for urinating during a National League North match against Bradford. In 2009, Stuttgart goalkeeper and former Arsenal star Jens Lehmann jumped over the advertising hoardings behind the goal to relieve himself, before he was interrupted when Unirea Urziceni went on a counter-attack and he had to rush back in goal. Gary Lineker famously pooed on the pitch while leading the line for England against Republic of Ireland at World Cup '90. Heading into the game with an upset stomach, Lineker was forced to wipe his shorts on the turf in a moment he would rather forget. In the 2005 London Marathon, Paula Radcliffe was suffering from severe stomach cramps and diarrohea, leading her to stop and relieve herself on the side of the road, in full view of the crowd and live television cameras. She went on to win the race with a time of 2:17:42, a record at the time for a women's only race. Radcliffe later said she had been looking for a toilet, but couldn't find one suitable.

CONFIRMATION: Shelbourne release statement on Damien Duff

Shelbourne have released a statement confirming Damien Duff's shock departure from the Premier Division champions. The League of Ireland side has informed stunned fans that Duff is no longer in charge - and that his assistant Joey O'Brien will take charge of Monday night's clash with Waterford. This comes three-and-a-half seasons into Duff's time in charge of the Reds. He informed his players on Sunday morning of his decision, which came in the wake of an interview with club media, where he blasted his players and claimed that 'pub teams' would have more motivation and energy than they showed during Friday's home defeat to Derry City. 'Shelbourne FC regretfully wishes to announce the departure of Damien Duff as first team manager. 'Damien informed the club this morning that, after much thought, he has made the decision to resign. He shared the news with the players earlier today. 'While all at Shelbourne FC are deeply saddened by Damien's decision, we fully respect that he feels this is the right choice for him at this time. 'During his four extraordinary years at Tolka Park, Damien transformed Shelbourne Football Club both on and off the pitch. 'Appointed in November 2021, he took over a newly promoted side and rebuilt it from the ground up. Duff guided Shels to a seventh-place finish and a first FAI Cup Final appearance since 2011 in that debut season. The following year, in 2023, a fourth-place finish brought the Reds back to European competition for the first time in 18 years. 'In 2024, Duff led the Reds to one of the greatest triumphs in the club's 130-year history, clinching the League of Ireland Premier Division title, our first since 2006. On the final day we went to Derry, where a 1-0 win at the Brandywell secured the title in dramatic fashion, marking Shels return to the summit of Irish football. 'The club wishes Damien and his family every happiness and success in the future. His impact on Shelbourne FC was transformational. He will always be one of our own, and we are eternally grateful for the indelible mark he has left on our club. 'Joey O'Brien and the coaching staff will take charge for tomorrow's trip to the RSC to face Waterford and will prepare the team for Friday's away fixture against Galway United. 'Neil Doyle, Shelbourne FC co-owner, speaking on behalf of the board, said: 'There are no words that do justice to Damien's accomplishments at Shelbourne FC and what he has done for both the club and the League of Ireland. We look back with immense pride on his time here. As a club, we move forward with confidence, knowing that the foundations we have jointly built will underpin our continued success. Thank you, Damien, for everything.'
