Chunky Panday says he attended a funeral for money, was told he'll get more if he cries: ‘The body was right in front of me'
Chunky Panday, who went through rough times in the mid-1990s after being a successful movie actor for nearly a decade, recently shared that he once attended a funeral in exchange for money. Chunky shared that this happened 38 years ago and while he did get paid for attending a funeral, it wasn't something that he actively agreed to beforehand. Chunky shared that the man who called him for the funeral offered to pay him more money if he managed to shed a tear or two.
In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Chunky shared that he landed at a funeral 'by mistake' and that it was 'not out of choice.' He said that actors, in the 1980s, did not have many alternate streams of income. There was no social media, actors were not present in advertising so they could only make money via movies and attending events. 'In those days, there was no source of income besides doing films or going for events. There was no Instagram, YouTube, no ads also. It was a different world that time,' he said.
Chunky recalled that one day, he received a call from an event organiser who wanted him to stop by at a place for ten minutes. Chunky shared that he was going for a shoot but the event was on his way so the organiser asked him to stop by. 'He asked me to come in white clothes. I thought it's a theme. He didn't tell me where he was calling me. I reached and saw a lot of crowd outside and everyone was dressed in white, so I thought it's a big event,' he said.

Chunky shared that as he stepped inside, he saw a dead body and innocently thought that the event organiser was dead. 'As I went inside, I saw a dead body lying there. I am so innocent that I thought the organiser died. Then the organiser came to me and I asked him, 'Who died?' He said, 'It's a funeral that I have called you for'. I couldn't shout, throw tantrums, I am in the middle of a funeral and the body was right in front of me. He told me, 'If you cry, I will give you more money'. The actor who went with me cried a lot, he got Rs 50,000 more,' Chunky recalled with a laugh.
The Housefull 5 actor then shared the reason as to why he was called there. He was told that the man who died had taken a lot of loans and the family was scared that the creditors will come and ask for their money, so they came up with a plan. 'There was a reason why we were called there. The one who died, he was under a lot of debt. His family was scared that the creditors will come and they will have to return the money. So they had spread the rumour that he produced a film and all his money went in that. Actors were called to create the impression that he was producing a film,' he said.

Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par debuts with Rs 11.70 Cr day 1 collection , matches Laal Singh Chaddha but falls short of 3 Idiots
's comeback vehicle Sitaare Zameen Par has opened to Rs 11.70 crore at the domestic box office on its first day, matching the Day 1 figures of his previous release Laal Singh Chaddha. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now While this is a promising start, especially after the mixed reception to Chaddha, the film narrowly misses surpassing the opening day collection of his much-loved classic 3 Idiots, which had notched Rs 12.99 crore on Day 1. The film, which has been positioned as an emotional, feel-good story in the same vein as Taare Zameen Par, has clearly sparked audience curiosity. Industry insiders credit the film's opening to a blend of Aamir's emotional brand of storytelling and the nostalgia surrounding his earlier socially sensitive film's major collection came from it's Hindi version where it collected Rs 11.50 crore while the rest came from Tamil and Telugu. When it came to Laal SIngh Chaddha- the Hindi version contributed Rs 11.6 crore while the rest came from Tamil and Telugu. However, while matching Laal Singh Chaddha's Day 1 performance may seem encouraging on paper, the comparison comes with a caveat—Chaddha released amid controversies, while Sitaare Zameen Par enjoyed a far more positive pre-release buzz and wider screen count. In that context, falling behind 3 Idiots—a film that released way back in 2009—is being seen as a missed opportunity. Here's how Sitaare Zameen Par compares to other Aamir Khan Day 1 openers: Thugs of Hindostan – Rs 52.25 crore – Rs 52.25 crore Dhoom 3 – Rs 36.22 crore – Rs 36.22 crore Dangal – Rs 29.78 crore – Rs 29.78 crore PK – Rs 26.63 crore Talaash – Rs 13.55 crore – Rs 13.55 crore 3 Idiots – Rs 12.99 crore Sitaare Zameen Par – Rs 11.70 crore Laal Singh Chaddha – Rs 11.70 crore Ghajini – Rs 10.20 crore Secret Superstar – Rs 4.80 crore Fanaa – Rs 3.97 crore – Rs 3.97 crore Dhobi Ghat – Rs 3.05 crore Rang De Basanti – Rs 2.90 crore While Sitaare Zameen Par hasn't cracked the top 5 Aamir Khan openers, the weekend holds promise. If positive word of mouth kicks in, it could well make up ground and find a place among the actor's more successful box office runs.

Love or scam? NEET UG 2025 topper features in multiple coaching centre ads; social media questions the rationale
A viral video has sparked a funny yet serious debate in the coaching world. Keshav Mittal, a 17-year-old from Punjab's Barnala, topped NEET UG 2025 with All India Rank 7 in his first try. Now, three big coaching centres, Allen, Motion and Narayana, are all claiming him as their student. Each institute shared congratulatory posts, proudly linking Keshav's success to their teaching. This has confused everyone and created a storm on social media. Memes and jokes are everywhere, with people asking how one student can belong to three rival institutes at once. 'It's love, not a scam. Coaching people for Keshav,' wrote the X (formerly Twitter) user who shared the viral video. 'Everyone has shared it on their own Instagram and Facebook. I've lost trust in all these institutes — when they're the ones doing scams, what will happen to the students?' reacted one user. One user clarified, 'This child was a regular classroom student in one coaching centre, and had joined the test series in another coaching centre.' 'It's also possible that Keshav's family might have taken money and sold the rank to the coaching institute for publicity,' alleged another user. One user wrote, 'Can't you even understand something as simple as this: students take tests from different coaching centres, sometimes they even take coaching from different places.' Keshav Mittal, a 17-year-old student from Tapa town in Punjab's Barnala district, has secured All-India Rank 7 in the NEET UG exam. He has scored 680 out of 720 marks. This was his first attempt at the national medical entrance test, and he is the highest scorer from Punjab this year. Keshav studied at DM Public Senior Secondary School in Karar Wala, Bathinda. He took coaching from a private institute in Chandigarh, according to HT. Keshav followed a daily study routine of 8 to 9 hours. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts NEET every year, announced the results on June 14.
