NTR is Not Just a Name—He is the Soul of Telugu Pride: Chandrababu

Kadapa:'NTR is not just three letters; he is the soul of Telugu self-respect and a sweet memory forever etched in the hearts of the poor,' declared TDP National President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a massive gathering at Mahanadu on Day 2.
Paying floral tributes to the statue of NTR on his 102nd birth anniversary, the CM described NTR as a transformational leader who redefined power as service and society as sacred.
'NTR declared that rulers are not masters but servants. He transformed governance with the powerful ideal that 'society is the temple, and the people are gods',' said the CM.
The CM called NTR Jayanthi a festival for all Telugu people and pledged to realize his dream of a poverty-free society. 'Only the Telugu Desam Party, inspired by NTR's ideals, can achieve this vision,' he asserted.
Describing NTR's journey from a humble government employee to a towering figure in both cinema and politics, CM Chandrababu said, 'No other individual has ruled two domains with such supremacy. NTR was not just a movie star or political leader—he was a historic phenomenon.' He said NTR replaced dynastic politics and corruption with a clean, welfare-oriented alternative and famously said: 'Power is responsibility, not privilege.'
Chandrababu said from Rs 2/kg rice, Janata clothes, and free housing to pensions, affordable power for farmers, mid-day meals, property rights for women, and irrigation projects—NTR brought revolutionary reforms that remain benchmarks today.
He also introduced landmark reforms like abolishing the Patel–Patwari system, launching the Single Window policy, and introducing reservations for BCs and women in local bodies
As TDP completes 43 years since its founding on March 29, 1982, the CM affirmed the party's renewed commitment to NTR's ideals. 'With the 2024 people's mandate, we are moving from destruction to development.'
Chandrababu concluded his speech with a powerful pledge: 'Our movement to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality will be our true tribute to NTR. The Six Guarantees and My Telugu Family initiatives will be game-changers. With NTR's blessings, by 2047, Telugu people will shine on the world stage.'

Revanth government trying to protect KCR, other BRS leaders: Minister Bandi

KARIMNAGAR: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday alleged that with its never-ending investigation into the 'irregularities' in the execution of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, the Revanth Reddy government is trying to shield BRS bigwigs. Speaking to the media here, the BJP leader claimed that the way the investigation is progressing shows that there is a secret understanding between the ruling Congress and BRS. Holding a copy of the National Dam Safety Authority's report on Kaleshwaram, he said: 'Citing non-availability of water, the KCR government shifted KLIS from Tummidihatti to Medigadda. The Central Water Commission reports say between 1986 and 2013, about 168 tmc of water used to be available at Tummidihatti.' 'If the government had gone ahead with the original plan, the project could have been completed at Tummidihatti with Rs 38,000 crore. But the BRS leaders, for the sake of filling their own pockets, escalated the project to Rs 1.2 lakh crore,' he alleged and demanded that the Revanth government prove its sincerity by seeking a CBI inquiry into the scam. 'Revanth Reddy is now acting like a protective shield of KCR. Despite all the corruption allegations and cases being booked against KCR, the Revanth Reddy government is not arresting him,' he added.

HD Deva Gowda asks PM Modi to help farmers as mango rates crash, weather hurts

BENGALURU: Former prime minister HD Deve Gowda on Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, seeking the Centre's intervention in helping Karnataka's mango cultivators, who have suffered a double-whammy of unpredictable prices and bad weather. Karnataka is a major contributor to mango production globally, Gowda pointed out, requesting the Centre to initiate a Price Deficiency Payment and Market Intervention Scheme for immediate fruit procurement in Karnataka through NAFED and NCCF, which will support farmers and alleviate rural distress. 'Further, mango is one of the major horticultural crops of Karnataka, cultivated over an area of 1.39 lakh hectares, particularly in Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, and Ramanagara districts, with an estimated output of 8-10 lakh tonnes during the rabi season. However, due to inclement weather and diseases, the mango yield has dropped to less than 30 per cent this year, according to farmers,' Gowda wrote. 'Prices fell from Rs 12,000 per quintal to Rs 2,000, while the cost of cultivation was Rs 5,466 a quintal. This has financially stressed the farmers, with many small and marginal mango growers unable to cover even basic costs,' he elaborated. He said Andhra Pradesh's ban on Totapuri mangoes from entering Chittoor district, which borders Karnataka, has disrupted the supply chain, risking post-harvest losses for the state's border mango growers, noting: 'This has created tension among the mango growers leading to protests in many districts, especially Kolar and Chikkaballpura.' Gowda also mentioned that the Karnataka Chief Minister and Chief Secretary have asked the AP government to revoke the ban immediately.

BJP calls Congress ‘factory of fake news'; counters Rahul Gandhi's Make in India criticism with data

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Sunday accused the Congress of spreading misinformation and fake news, calling the party a 'factory of fake news' in response to recent remarks by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on India's economic progress. Amit Malviya, who heads the BJP's National Information & Technology Department, cited seven alleged instances of misinformation shared by Congress over the past two weeks. In a video posted on social media platform X, Malviya claimed that the Congress has repeatedly used doctored videos and fabricated documents to attack the government. 'India deserves an honest opposition, not this circus of deception,' Malviya said, alleging that lies had become the Congress's primary strategy. Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Malviya said the Congress leader invokes Mahatma Gandhi's legacy but does not follow the values the Mahatma stood for, such as truth, non-violence, and national unity. Malviya on Saturday also responded to Gandhi's recent criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Make in India programme. Gandhi had called the initiative ineffective, particularly in creating jobs and boosting manufacturing. Countering this, Malviya shared data claiming a sharp rise in electronics production from Rs 18,900 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 4.22 lakh crore in 2023-24. He added that mobile phone exports had increased 77 times from Rs 1,566 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 1.2 lakh crore in 2023-24, with 99.2% of mobile phones now manufactured in India—up from 26% a decade ago. He further defended the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, stating it attracted investments of Rs 10,905 crore and generated total production worth Rs 7.15 lakh crore. On employment, he said 1.8 lakh new companies were registered in 2023-24—a 16% increase from the previous year.
