Andhra Pradesh government to introduce programmes in Quantum Technologies and AI in engineering and degree colleges

The State government has decided to introduce minor programmes in Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both engineering and conventional degree colleges from the academic year 2025-26.
An expert committee, constituted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) to design and develop a robust curriculum framework for Quantum Computing, Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), in alignment with the National Education Police (NEP), 2020 and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guidelines, met on Sunday (June 22).
The meeting, headed by APSCHE Chairman K. Madhu Murthy, discussed key aspects of the curriculum design, capacity-building, development of a Quantum Lab and research, innovation and start-ups.
Former Special Secretary, Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ganta Subba Rao, who is also a member of the committee, said quantum technology represents an emerging field poised to revolutionise numerous sectors, from computing and sensing to communication. Its transformative potential necessitates a specialised workforce capable of navigating its complexities and driving its development.
After a thorough round of discussion, it was decided to introduce a Minor Degree in Quantum Technologies (Engineering stream) for 18 credits, a Minor Degree in Artificial Intelligence (Engineering and General streams) for 18 credits and a Minor Degree in Quantum Technologies (General Degree stream) for 16 credit points
The meeting also decided to conduct Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) for 500 faculty in physics, electronics, mathematics and computer science disciplines.
The committee members also proposed to set up Quantum Labs at Andhra University, JNTU-Kakinada, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Sri Venkateswara University, JNTU-Anantapur and Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT)

VIJAYAWADA: Girls secured a majority of the top ranks in the AP Education Common Entrance Test (AP EdCET)–2025, the results of which were announced on Friday. The examination, conducted by ANU on behalf of APSCHE, recorded a high pass percentage of 99.42%, with 14,527 of the 14,612 candidates qualifying. In the Biological Science stream, girls claimed the top three positions. Kella Venkata Kusumanjali of Visakhapatnam topped the list, followed by Mylapilli Chandini (Srikakulam) and Donka Krishna, the only male in the top five. In English methodology, Peerla Prasantham from Anakapalli bagged the top spot, while Srihitha Dhanisetti and Vuttaradhi Akhila secured second and third places respectively. In Mathematics, although Mudimanchi Naveen Kumar secured first place, girls like Pakki Sai Vandana and Surada Komalika followed closely. A similar pattern was seen in Social Studies and Physical Sciences. Announcing the results, HRD Minister N Lokesh shared the update on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

99.4% candidates clear AP Education Common Entrance Test

An overall pass percentage of 99.42 has been registered in the Andhra Pradesh Education Common Entrance Test (AP EDCET)-2025, conducted for admissions into B. Ed. (Bachelor of Education) regular courses in the colleges of education across the State. Acharya Nagarjuna University, which conducted the entrance test on June 5, 2025, in a single session in 87 test centres on behalf of the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), released the results on Friday (June 20). In a statement, convener of AP EDCET A.V.V.S. Swamy said out of the total 17,795 candidates who registered, 14,612 appeared for the test and 14,527 candidates qualified, recording a 99.42% pass. Sharing information on methodology-wise details of the candidates, Prof. Swamy said in mathematics, out of the total 4,165 candidates who wrote the exam, 4,160 qualified, recording 99.88 pass rate. In physical science, a total of 1,654 candidates appeared for the test and 1,651 qualified achieving 99.82 pass rate while in biological science, 3,631 candidates wrote the test and 3,602 qualified securing a pass percentage of 99.20. In social studies, 4,451 of the total 4,499 candidates who appeared for the entrance test qualified recording 98.93 pass rate and in English, the candidates achieved 100% pass with all the 663, who wrote the test, qualifying in it.
