Huawei could launch its second tri-fold phone next year

Yahoo07-03-2025

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate was the world's first tri-fold phone. According to leaker FixedFocus (via Huawei Central), a successor may arrive as early as mid-2026. This follows the international launch of the first model last month.
According to the tipster, the second-generation Mate XT is expected to resemble the original model but will feature an improved camera system and improved Kirin 5G chips. A better display panel is also anticipated. The current model launched with a three-lens arrangement and Kirin 9010 5G chipset. The Mate XT runs on Harmony OS and offers various RAM and storage options. It also has a 5,600mAh battery.
The Huawei Mate XT signified a significant advancement in foldable smartphone technology. Its most notable feature is its ability to unfold into a 10.2-inch display, which offers a tablet-like experience perfect for multitasking, streaming media, and productivity tasks. The device also retains the convenience of a foldable design that allows it to be compact and easily portable.
The phone's single screen measures 6.4 inches, while its dual screen is 7.9 inches.
Tri-fold phones are still in their early stages, but that may change soon as companies like Samsung are expected to enter the market. Rumors suggest that the maker of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is developing its first tri-fold phone, which could be launched as early as this summer.
Huawei's Mate XT features a single flexible panel that folds inward, while Samsung's tri-fold device is anticipated to fold inward from both the left and right sides.
If you're thinking about purchasing a Huawei phone, it might be difficult depending on your location. Countries such as the U.S., U.K., Australia, and others have banned Huawei products due to security concerns.

Samsung reveals Exynos 2500, the chip behind its leaked Flip 7 shakeup

TL;DR Samsung has announced its new Exynos 2500 chipset with powerful AI abilities and GPU upgrades. Built on a 3nm process, it supports high-end features like ray tracing and satellite connectivity. Leaked reports suggest this SoC will power all Galaxy Z Flip 7 devices worldwide, marking a break from tradition. In the run-up to the eventual launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung has officially unveiled the Exynos 2500 SoC that is largely rumored to power the upcoming flip phone in all markets, including the US. The Exynos 2500 is built on a 3nm GAA process node and features a 1+(2+5)+2 CPU setup comprising one Cortex-X5 (which ARM renamed as the Cortex-X925) clocked at 3.3GHz, two Cortex-A725 at 2.74GHz, five Cortex-A725 at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 at 1.8GHz. The new SoC uses the Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU, which supports a display of up to 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate and hardware-accelerated ray tracing for games. It also supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The ISP on the Exynos 2500 supports up to 320MP camera sensors and up to 8K 30fps video recording. The Exynos 2500 also comes with the Exynos 5400 modem, which supports 3GPP Rel. 17, enabling mmWave 5G support and peak download speeds of up to 12.1 Gbps. It also supports satellite connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 7. Samsung is also keen to highlight the NPU on the Exynos 2500, which it claims can run up to 59 trillion operations per second. This allows the Exynos 2500 to claim 39% better on-device AI performance than its predecessor, the Exynos 2400 (though we couldn't locate the TOPS figure for the Exynos 2400). Samsung doesn't mention which device will feature this SoC or when it will launch. However, we've been hearing about the Exynos 2500 coming first to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 for quite some time. Even now, leaker Universe Ice on X reiterated that the Exynos 2500 will be used in all Galaxy Z Flip 7 versions worldwide. If the leak pans out, this would mark the first time the company has deviated from using the same Snapdragon SoC on its flip and fold flagships, as Samsung is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. We'll find out how it unfolds in the coming weeks. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . You can stay anonymous or get credit for the info, it's your choice.

Odd Lots: The Secretive Chinese Chip Giant That Could Be Nvidia's Biggest Threat

Right now, Nvidia stock is back near its all-time highs, thanks to seemingly unquenchable demand for its AI chips. When it comes to profiting off of this boom, Nvidia's lead and lock-in looks almost unassailable. But there is one particular company that is clearly on the mind of CEO Jensen Huang, and that is Huawei. On this episode, we speak with Washington Post reporter Eva Dou, the author of the new book House of Huawei: The Secret History of China's Most Powerful Company. Her book explains how the historical development of Huawei is basically synonymous with the rise of modern China, having started early on in Shenzhen, when that was one of the few parts of the country where capitalism and free enterprise were allowed to take root. She discusses what the company does, how it became so strong, its links to the Chinese government, and how it emerged as a possible rival to Nvidia.
