UK Indie Film ‘Tramp' Secures Theatrical Deal With China Film Group — Cannes Market
EXCLUSIVE: UK independent film Tramp has secured a theatrical distribution deal with China Film Group.
The film is set for theatrical release in China towards the end of this year or early-2026, with production company EMC Productions adding that they are also exploring opportunities for the film to be available on Chinese streaming platforms.

Tramp is a sports drama that explores the worlds of mixed marital arts (MMA) and motherhood. Loosely inspired by real athletes, the film follows a British-Polish fighter whose meteoric rise is derailed by an unexpected pregnancy.
Produced by London-based EMC Productions, the film stars Izabella Malewska (Cold Feet, Holby City) and Alessandro Babalola (Top Boy, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare), and is shot by Tristan Chenais (Rogue Agent, Dust to Dreams).
Tramp is the debut feature from Philip James McGoldrick.
Earlier this year, EMC Productions brought in Chinese producer Jiawei Li, who also runs Green Brick, an initiative that aims to foster cross-cultural collaboration between the UK and Chinese film industries, focusing on international film projects, commercials and music videos.
'We'd like to underline how unusual Tramp's position is in today's landscape' said McGoldrick. 'Some high-level sales directors were convinced we wouldn't get this far — let alone secure international distribution. When was the last time a wholly British film, with no U.S. studio backing, achieved this kind of reach? It's a rare moment, and we're incredibly proud of it.'
McGoldrick added: 'We're pleased to bring our debut feature to China through our partnership with Green Brick, led by our associate producer Jiawei Li. Green Brick was founded to strengthen cultural ties between the UK and China, and we're proud to be collaborating with them. The film embodies so much of what makes British culture unique, so we're excited to share that with Chinese audiences. The release will be handled by China Film Group, the country's largest and most established distributor- giving Tramp a unique opportunity to access China's multi-billion-dollar theatrical market with the support of trusted local partners.'
Li said: 'I deeply appreciate the Tramp film project and am honored to be part of it. I will be leading efforts to distribute Tramp in the Chinese market through my collaboration with China Film Group, while also exploring opportunities for the film to be available on major Chinese streaming platforms.'

Is there a post credit scene in 28 Years Later?
The newest sequel in the 28 Days Later franchise hit theaters on Friday, with audiences heading to see what the rage virus had done to the United Kingdom in the nearly three decades since it began. The story picks up with Spike (Alfie Williams) and his dad (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) heading onto the mainland from the safety of their island refuge for a coming-of-age hunting trip. Warning: Spoilers for 28 Years Later follow! Eventually Spike and his mother Isla (the wonderful Jodie Comer) go on a search for a doctor (Ralph Fiennes) that can hopefully help her migraines and bouts of confusion. They, of course, run into a lot of trouble with hordes of infected and a particularly difficult Alpha (the more evolved and stronger infected). After finding Dr. Kelson, Spike has to come to grips with grief and death in a new way, and he decides to stay out on the mainland to learn more about himself. So, is there a post-credit scene in 28 Years Later? The short answer is no, you can leave when the credits start to roll. The longer answer is that there should have been one. Director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland ended the movie with a bizarre scene that involves track-suited, karate fighting killers in blond wigs, led by ringleader Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell). It's a deep cut reference to disgraced British television host Jimmy Savile, but it's also a drastic tonal shift from the rest of the movie. The newest movie is actually the launching point for a hopeful new trilogy, starting with 28 Years Later and continuing with the January 2026 release of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. Since the final scene seems to be more of a lead-in to that follow up film, it would have been less of a vibe shift had it followed a wave of credits.

Chinese company Netease is making an AAA action-adventure game called 'Blood Message'
NetEase, the Chinese video game company that published Marvel Rivals and Bungie's Destiny: Rising , has announced its first single-player AAA game. It's a story-driven third-person action-adventure game called Blood Message , and as Polygon notes, it's in the vein of Uncharted and Assassin's Creed. The story is set in the final years of the Tang Dynasty, which ruled imperial China from 618 to 907. In Blood Message , players take control of a nameless messenger and his son "to deliver a message that holds the fate of their war-torn homeland." Players will have to journey through desolate deserts and the vast wilderness of East and Central Asia. The trailer shows the messenger and his son fighting enemies in the desert, surviving avalanches, working with mysterious characters and discovering ancient artifacts. It also shows the game's cinematic cutscenes, stealth and survival mechanics, as well as the landscapes players can expect to see. "We are ushering players into a new generation of high adventure with Blood Message," said Zhipeng Hu, the Lead Producer and NetEase Executive Vice President. "As our first completely single-player focused experience from NetEase Games, after two decades of deep dedication to the gaming industry, we are prepared to deliver a truly epic and cinematic experience for players around the world." NetEase has yet to announce a release date, but Blood Message will be available for consoles and the PC. The game's announcement shows that Chinese developers are increasingly making more inroads into the AAA space. Black Myth: Wukong , which is widely considered as the first AAA game from China, was originally released last year and will be available on the Xbox in August.
