Tushar Raheja to Shivam Singh: Star TNNPL batters KKR should target for IPL 2026

In this collection of pictures, we will explore the list of star TNPL batters KKR could consider signing for IPL 2026. 2024 IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders had a difficult 2025 season following the loss of a key opener Phil Salt to RCB. Their weaknesses were best demonstrated in powerplay, where their openers averaged a miserable 26.5 per man individually and a meager 22.3 together the third-lowest opening partnership average of the league. KKR's skipper, Ajinkya Rahane was the only batter who amassed runs with intent and turned out to be the highest run-scorer for his side. He scored a total of 390 runs at an average of 3.45 with a strike rate of 147.73. His highest score was 61. There is no doubt that KKR are going to seek reinforcement at the top-order, exploring the Indian talent pool, and in this case, there is where these three super hitters in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) can come handy. In case you have been able to see a glimpse of the TNPL, then you must have heard of Tushar Raheja. The classy left-handed opener will be the perfect addition in the line-up of KKR style which is to attack in the powerplay. He is the top run-scorer in TNPL 2025 so far, with 298 races at a mind boggling average of 99.33 and a strike rate of 204.10. His six-hitting skills are never in doubt, though, and with 21 sixes and 29 fours in the contest, he has more boundaries as a hitter than any other TNPL 2025 batter. No batter has scored more runs in TNPL since 2023 than Shivam Singh. The ex-PBKS all rounder has been in a rampage in the tournament having scored 931 runs with an amazing average of 51.72. Imagine Ajinkya Rahane took a bold decision by playing as an opener for KKR, the team will require someone solid at No.3 and that is where Nidhish Rajagopal comes handy. The left hander deals well with pace and spin, which is highly necessary in a KKR team with a fire balling middle order. He has an adequate record against spinners, scoring 263 runs with 16 sixes since the 2023 TNPL, which is a good sign of dealing with spinners. The Salem-born hitter is only 25 so he brings youth to an already ageing KKR top order, providing the ideal calm yet effective balance in the batting arsenal.

Watch: All-Rounder Varun Chakaravarthy? KKR Star Hits 6 And 4 To Win TNPL Clash

Last Updated: Varun Chakaravarthy hit a six and four to win Dindugal Dragons a last-ball thriller in the TNPL. Captain R Ashwin's reaction said it all. News18 India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy turned finisher for his Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) team Dindigul Dragons to beat Salem Spartans by two wickets at the Chennai Super Kings ground on Sunday evening. The Dragons needed eight runs off the last two balls against medium-pacer M Poiyamozhi. The penultimate ball was a no-ball, and Chakaravarthy smoked the free-hit for a six over long-on, going across his off-stump to flick it high in the air. With one run needed, the fielders closed in for the last ball, and the batter played a smart, well-timed lofted shot to clear mid-off for a four down the ground. Watch the moment and the ensuing celebrations here: Varun Chakravarthy delivered a humdinger finish for the Dindigul Dragons! @TNCACricket @DindigulDragons @chakaravarthy29 #TNPL #NammaOoruNammaGethu #TNPL2025 — TNPL (@TNPremierLeague) June 22, 2025 Chakaravarthy's former Tamil Nadu and KKR captain Dinesh Karthik was all praise for him. 'Amazing .. Well done Varun. All the hard work you have put in is showing 👏👏👏," he wrote on X. The spinner's childhood coaches have previously confirmed that he has been working on his batting since being dropped from India's T20 side after 2021. In 2024, KKR's then batting coach Abhishek Nayar, has also revealed that the national selectors had asked the spinner to work on his batting and fielding skills. Chakaravarthy, among the best bowlers of the past two seasons, made his way back to the T20 team earlier this year and has become an integral part of the spin attack under Gautam Gambhir's coaching. Coming back to the match, the Spartans scored 188/7 in the first innings. Nidhish Rajagopal was the top run-getter with 74 (47) to his name. For the Dragons, the spin duo of skipper Ravichandran Ashwin and Chakaravarthy shone with the ball. While Ashwin took three scalps, including Rajagopal's, Chakaravarthy got rid of skipper S Abishiek. Ashwin led the charge in the chase, too, smashing a quick 14-ball 36 as the opener. The Dragons didn't find a single anchor to take them through but were helped by several small cameos, finished by Chakaravarthy's cherry-on-the-cake unbeaten 13 (5) that sealed the narrow last-ball win.
