Essaouira Comes Alive on Day 3 of Gnaoua Festival

Marrakech – The third day of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival in Essaouira brought a wave of unfiltered energy to the city's medina, beaches, and stages. From traditional trance to experimental fusion, the lineup delivered an immersive experience that had the audience dancing late into the night. Saturday's program featured an impressive selection of artists: Maâlem Mohamed Boumezzough, Aly Keïta, Anas Chlih, Tao Ehrlich, Martin Guerpin, Quentin Ghomari, Hajar Alaoui, Cimafunk, Khalid Sansi, Hind Ennaira, and Omar Hayat. Each brought their own flair to the stage, mixing Gnawa rhythms with funk, jazz, and global soul. The atmosphere was electric as artists from different continents came together in celebration of music, rhythm, and resistance. Among the many acts that stood out were The Leila and the Nishtiman Project, two artists who captivated both hearts and headlines this year. The Leila is a bold Moroccan performer known for fusing reggada and rock with poetry, feminism, and social commentary. Her performance was as raw as it was refined, evoking both nostalgia and rebellion. Tattoos inspired by Amazigh symbols, unapologetic lyrics, and a commanding presence made her one of the most talked-about performers of the day. The Nishtiman Project, a Kurdish musical collective, transported the crowd through time and across borders. Founded by Saïd Assadi, the group blends traditional Kurdish instruments like the daf, duduk, and tanbur with innovative arrangements that speak to themes of homeland, displacement, and unity. Their music isn't just performance — it's a political and emotional journey. Tags: Gnaoua Festival 2025

RedOne, Pitbull Release 2025 Club World Cup Anthem

Fez– In a bold musical move that fuses nostalgia with high-voltage energy, Moroccan hitmaker RedOne has teamed up with American rap icon Pitbull to release the official anthem for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, taking place in the United States. And they didn't hold back. Instead of composing something entirely new, the duo went straight for the jugular of global stadium classics: 'We Will Rock You', Queen's legendary 1977 anthem. But don't expect a simple remix; this is a full reimagining, infused with RedOne's signature cinematic production and modern electronic beats that bring the old-school stomp-stomp-clap into the heart of 2025. RedOne, known for his Grammy-stacked portfolio and larger-than-life collaborations, kept the song's iconic chant intact, but spun it into something sleeker, punchier, and tailor-made for a generation raised on festival drops and TikTok loops. It's a revival, not a replica. Then comes Pitbull. Mr. Worldwide himself dives in with fiery rap verses celebrating victory, perseverance, and the kind of unshakable swagger that fuels championship dreams. His lyrics ride the beat like a victory lap, delivering the kind of hype that gets fans on their feet, whether they're in the stadium or streaming the game from across the globe. The choice of 'We Will Rock You' isn't random; it's arguably one of the most universally recognized anthems of defiance and collective adrenaline. By bringing it back with a global twist, RedOne and Pitbull have effectively built a bridge between rock royalty and 21st-century sportainment. And while the beat drops and verses blaze, let's not forget who's showing up on the field. This year's Club World Cup includes Morocco's Wydad Casablanca, representing North Africa with pride and grit. They'll be joined by four other Arab powerhouses: Egypt's Al Ahly, Tunisia's Espérance Sportive de Tunis, Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal, and the UAE's Al Ain. So, yes, North Africa and the Middle East will have a serious presence both on the pitch and in the soundtrack. RedOne and Pitbull aren't just throwing a party; they're giving fans an anthem to rally behind. It's old-school rock, global flair, and pure sporting adrenaline in one track. The stage is set, the song is out, and the countdown to kickoff has officially begun. Let the games and the beats begin. Tags: AnthemClub World CupPitbullRedOne

US Threatens to Add 36 More Countries to Controversial Travel Ban List

Rabat – US President Donald Trump's controversial immigration policies continue as his administration is planning to add 36 countries to the travel ban list. This means that citizens from 36 additional countries will be banned from entering the US, Reuters said, citing an internal State Department cable it reviewed. This comes after Trump signed a proclamation that banned the entry of citizens from 12 countries. An internal diplomatic cable signed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio identified over 36 more countries that will be subject to an entry ban. 'The Department has identified 36 countries of concern that might be recommended for full or partial suspension of entry if they do not meet established benchmarks and requirements within 60 days,' the cable reviewed by Reuters reportedly said. The countries identified reportedly did not facilitate the return of their nationals subjected to deportation orders. 'Some countries were overstaying the U.S. visas their citizens were being granted,' Reuters reported, noting that some of the individuals that are sought to be removed were allegedly involved in acts of terrorism, or anti-Semitic and 'anti-American activity.' 'The Department of State is committed to protecting our nation and its citizens by upholding the highest standards of national security and public safety through our visa process,' a senior State Department official told Reuters, noting that the State Department is constantly reevaluating policies to ensure the safety of foreign and American citizens. The list of countries that could face a full or partial ban if they do not meet US requirements includes Angola, Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, the Gambia, Burkina Faso, Benin, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Senegal, among others. The aforementioned countries will have to address US concerns within the next 60 days to avoid being added to the travel ban list. The 12 countries that are already affected by the travel ban include Congo Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, as well as Chad, Myanmar, and Afghanistan. Countries like Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela face partial travel restrictions. Tags: travel bantravel ban list
