Retro Starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde to Release on This OTT Platfrom on May 31
Surya's latest flick Retro, will soon be available to stream on Netflix. The movie will be released on the platform from May 31, 2025, in Tamil, Telugu, and other Indian languages.
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro had a limited success in theatres, especially in Telugu-speaking states. Now, with its Netflix release, the makers hope the film will reach a wider audience.
The film also features actors Joju George, Nassar, Vidhu, and Jayaram in important roles. The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, and it is produced by Stone Bench Films and 2D Entertainment.
Fans who missed the movie in theatres are eagerly waiting to see if it get a better response on Netflix than it did at the box office.

Last month, Deepika Padukone reportedly decided to walk away from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming Telugu cop drama Spirit due to certain working demands, including a request for an 'eight-hour workday'. Her request comes eight months after she became a mother to daughter Dua Padukone. Now, filmmaker Siddharth P Malhotra, who directed Junaid Khan's debut movie Maharaj last year, has weighed in on the matter. He claimed that eight-hour shifts aren't new and his female actors have demanded them years ago. 'We finished Hichki, the whole film, in 28 eight-hour shifts. Whether it was Rani (Mukerji), the kids, the cameramen or the spot boy, everyone finished in that time,' Malhotra told IANS. Hichki, produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films, starred his wife Rani Mukerji in the lead role. It was the first film she did after giving birth to daughter Adira Chopra in December 2015. Rani had confessed that she began howling in the car on her first day to shoot the film back in 2016. She'd said, 'For 14 months, I have been there in front of her face. So I kept asking myself, 'Is it going to be worth it?'' In the interview, Siddharth P Malhotra argued that every film and director have their own demands. 'It's been happening for years. When I'd shot with Kajol in 2010, she used to do eight-hour shifts. She made it very clear she'd either come for 10 am to 6 pm or 7 am to 2 pm or for an eight-hour shift at night. Rani also did the same. Deepika isn't demanding anything new,' he said. Malhotra worked with Kajol in his 2010 directorial debut We Are Family. Kajol also recently backed the eight-hour shift practice and told PTI, 'I didn't work for 20 or 30 hours. I was always very clear that we would work a certain amount only, and my mom (veteran actor Tanuja) also backed me up big time on it.' Siddharth P Malhotra added that if Deepika Padukone has made these conditions clear right from the start, then the director shouldn't work with her if it doesn't suit them. He added, 'If I need an actor and am confident I can finish the film within those working hours, I'd work with them even for six hours a day. This isn't actor-specific. People are just gaining publicity in the name of Deepika Padukone. She's asking for family time, what wrong is she demanding?' If not, he's free to work with any other actor. Vanga has now signed his Animal actor Triptii Dimri as the lead opposite Prabhas in Spirit. Box Office Trends: Sitaare Zameen Par explodes with 200 percent jump from Friday to Sunday; Aamir Khan roars back into spotlight
The Aamir Khan led Sitaare Zameen Par has gone on an overdrive on Sunday, with early trends indicating third day business in the range of Rs 28.50 crore to Rs 30.50 crore. While a Rs 28 crore plus dayis assured, there is an outside chance for the film to even hit the Rs 31 crore mark, depending on how the film performs in the late evening and night shows. With this, the 3 day weekend of Sitaare Zameen Par stands at Rs 60.00 crore, and the film will be looking to record a superlative trend in the coming weeks. The film is showing an insane trend at the box-office, as rarely have we seen films jump from the Rs 10 crore mark on Friday to Rs 30 crore (200 percent up) mark on Sunday, more so in the post pandemic world. But again, Aamir Khan too has not arrived with a good content film in the last 5 years, and the master has now scripted his own comeback by going against the tide. Aamir happens to be one of the biggest crowd pullers of Indian Cinema, and it was just a matter of good film for him to re-establish the connect with his audience, which has now happened with Sitaare Zameen Par if the weekend trend is anything to go by. Sitaare Zameen Par is showing a near 60 percent spike in business in the national multiplex chains, as the film has hit Rs 12.10 crore on Sunday at 3 PM in PVRInox and Cinepolis, as compared to Rs 7.90 crore on Saturday at the same time. The film is headed to collect Rs 20.00 crore in the national chains by end of Sunday, growing about 42 percent from Saturday. The hearting sign rests in the fact that the non-national chains and single screens too have come on board Sitaare Zameen Par on Sunday, which is an indication of the film looking to sustain well in the long run. Sitaare Zameen Par had everything going against it prior to the release, being a remake, with not-so-impactful music, a non-action social dramedy devoid of a big star cast, but all it took is positive talk from the audience to turn the tides in its favour. And one must give complete credit to Aamir Khan for sticking to his conviction with this RS Prasanna directorial.
