Celtic transfer intel swarms the Hotline as Dermot Desmond deploys £50m response to Rangers takeover
The takeover, the new manager and transfer murmurs skyrocketing - but Rangers don't have Celtic worried just yet.
The champions are making moves behind the scenes - and Dermot Desmond is set to give Brendan Rodgers the keys to the Parkhead coffers this summer.
That is according to Martin 'Butch' Cassidy, Hamilton - who claims to be the man with the intel is leaking out of Celtic Park.
He said: "I have worked in a world where wee whispers about Celtic land on my door and have then come to pass. I knew Brendan Rodgers would be the boss before it was announced two times over.
"And now my source is telling me Dermot Desmond is eyeing a marquee summer. This Rangers takeover will have nothing on us and my inside man reckons we'll spend in excess of £50million. Over to you, Rangers."
Transfer season is well underway - and Cyriel Dessers looks to be inching closer to the Ibrox exit door.
But with AEK looking to snap up the striker for a lowball offer the door remains closed for the Nigeria international.
Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton emailed: "Much has been made of the fact that Dessers finished up Scotland's top goalscorer - so for Rangers reportedly holding out for a paltry £5million is beggars belief.
"It's another example of Rangers desperate for finance and they will regret not having Rangers diehard Lawrence Shankland in place for the start of the season."
Nicolas Kuhn is another who could be on the move - with the Celtic winger attracting interest from RB Leipzig.
Alan Flett senses a shift in Glasgow amid wheeling and dealing at Parkhead: "RB Leipzig must be desperate if they're willing to pay £15m for Kuhn. He's been playing in Scotland for 18 months and has been largely anonymous for the majority of that period.
"Despite their apparent wealth, the biscuit tin mentality is alive and well at Celtic Park. It's only a matter of time before Rangers are back on top of the Scottish game."
Russell Martin knows who he will face in his first competitive match as Rangers boss - with the crucial Champions League qualifiers kicking off against Panathanaikos.
But some have already written off their chances of joining Europe's elite next season - with Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh commenting: "Surely Champions League is beyond Rangers this season?
"They're nowhere near enough ready , and I suggest Europa League far more realistic. Defeat by Panathanaikos would see Gers given a 5 million Euro softener"
And the draw sparked some Hotline sparring between regulars - with Scott Gowers clamped over a potential UEFA conspiracy.
John Scott said: "Scott Gowers thinks Ranger's are mysteriously getting tough draws in Euro qualification for the Champions League. Can we smell the pungent aroma of yet another conspiracy. Not more big male coo's and dungheaps surely?"
John Souttar looks set to miss the clash with the Greeks after delaying surgery to turn out for Scotland at the end of the campaign.
Baffled Dr Robert S Pender said: "Did nobody tell the Rangers player who pays his wages? To delay the surgery in order to turn out for Scotland friendlies was totally unexplainable. Now the player will miss important qualifying games. I think he will eventually will move on."
Hibs have drawn FC Midtjylland in their Europa League qualifiers - and the Danes have been quick to play down the threat of the Premiership side with boss Thomas Thomasberg declaring his side would reach the next round.
Neil Renton, Leith said: "Midtjylland boss Thomas Thomasberg might be super confident his side will beat Hibs in the Europa League but he can't write off the Easter Road side too quickly. Fingers crossed that his comments come back to haunt him and he's humbled by the Hibees."

Marcus Rashford offered Man Utd exit route as Everton backed to complete deal
After finishing 15th in the Premier League last season, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has work to do if he wants to set his side up for an improved showing Manchester United's summer rebuild is already well underway thanks to the capture of Matheus Cunha, but there's more to come. The Brazil international is the first of what many expect to be a run of signings as Ruben Amorim looks to streamline his squad. United have confirmed Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Christian Eriksen will leave upon the expiry of their contracts, though Tom Heaton is due to extend his stay. Those leaving for nothing are unlikely to be the only players to depart, though. If Amorim wants to further strengthen his squad without the financial benefit of European football, he may well need to sanction further sales. Alejandro Garnacho is among those who could fetch a tidy sum, though early reports of a Serie A move for Rasmus Hojlund have grown quieter of late. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all expected to be surplus to requirements of ending last season out on loan. Real Betis are hopeful of keeping Antony at the club, though Chelsea's feelings about Sancho were rather different. We've got an update on Rashford for you today, as well as a handful of other lines. Here's Mirror Football 's latest round of updates from around Old Trafford. Newcastle keen on Rashford Newcastle United could be about to offer Marcus Rashford a route out of Old Trafford. The Magpies could also offer the England star a chance of Champions League football, though there's still work to be done. According to The Sun, Newcastle's preference is for a season-long loan while Manchester United would prefer a permanent sale. Rashford's current deal runs until 2028, and he is one of the highest earners in the Premier League. Rashford impressed on loan at Aston Villa last term, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League makes a return unlikely. Barcelona have begun to look elsewhere, despite previous interest, with Nico Williams close to a move at the time of writing. Everton told to sign Hojlund Former Everton star Pat Nevin has called on the club to raid Manchester United for Rasmus Hojlund. Danish frontman Hojlund struggled in front of goal last season, but Nevin believes a move to Merseyside could be the perfect fit. "There are two or three players that they could think about bringing in from Manchester United but Rasmus Hojlund is the one that sticks out," Nevin told Spin Genie after urging Everton to look at the loan market. "If you look at his style of play, it's a perfect match with how David Moyes likes to play. While his numbers haven't been great this season, Moyes loves hard workers and that's something you can never complain about in regards to Hojlund. "It's not very often David Moyes has had a 20-30 goals-per-season striker. He's had strikers who run in behind and create space to bring others into play, so, if he's available, Hojlund could be a tempting option for Everton to sign on loan." Chelsea told to ignore Garnacho Chelsea should steer clear of a move for Alejandro Garnacho, according to their former midfielder Emmanuel Petit. Speaking to talkSPORT Bet, Petit argued the Argentine's visible frustration in recent weeks is a concern. 'Chelsea should steer clear of Alejandro Garnacho, he might be a decent guy but I didn't like his behaviour on Manchester United's tour," Petit said. 'He is showing frustration but has had a lot of chances to show his potential on the pitch, but still we don't know what to expect from him. He gives 100% and shows great commitment, but we haven't seen him really improve as a player. 'The mentality is there on the pitch but he hasn't been improving step by step. Chelsea already have wingers in similar situations with the same frustrations. Signing Garnacho is not a good idea.' New tourist tax in Glasgow approved by councillors
The visitor levy due to be introduced on January, 25, 2027 will see people pay 5% of their accommodation bill for every night of their entire stay. It is expected the fee could bring in about £16 million annually after costs and will apply to hotels, hostels, guest houses, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation. Speaking at the city administration committee today, city treasurer Ricky Bell said he and leader Susan Aitken 'had been lobbying the Scottish Government for some time to give us more powers to be able to raise our own revenues and this is the start of what I hope will be a continuation of those powers being devolved to local government.' It is proposed that hotel operators keep 1.5% of the amount collected to make up for any costs incurred. Organisations who don't comply would face penalties. READ MORE: Councillor Ricky Bell: 'Visitor levy in Glasgow could grow city's tourism offer' Councillors approved the visitor levy at the city administration committee this morning. Cash generated would go towards the look and feel of the city with investment in infrastructure and the 'built and natural environment', as well as culture and events and marketing of the city as a destination to grow visitors. A visitor levy forum is also to be set up to provide advice to the council relating to the scheme and it is proposed those involved in the visitor sector and representatives from communities would have a key role. Employees are to be appointed at Glasgow City Council to handle the process and annual costs are estimated to be about £750,000 to £950,000 – with initial set up expected to be £400,000. Scottish Green councillors moved an amendment at the committee relating to accommodation provider costs stating that they 'may only retain money under this rebate scheme for three years' and providing more details on penalties if they don't pay. The amendment was rejected by Labour, the SNP and a Conservative councillor.
