Seahawks OTA practices begin on Tuesday
The Seattle Seahawks' offseason continues this week, as the first of their nine Organized Team Activities (OTA) practices will begin on Tuesday. These practices are voluntary. What is not voluntary, however, will be Seattle's three-day minicamp at the end of June, which will start on the 17th and conclude on the 19th.
Here are the following dates for the Seahawks' OTA sessions:
May 27th
May 29th-30th
June 2nd
June 4th-5th
June 9th
June 11th-12th
While these are technically classified as voluntary, it's hard to imagine many members of the team won't be in attendance. I'm sure we will see quarterbacks Sam Darnold, Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe, as well as wide receiver Cooper Kupp. The Seahawks are undergoing several massive changes offensively by virtue of bringing in an entirely new offensive staff. Klint Kubiak is brand new in the Emerald City and it's going to take some time to install his system.
Now, it helps that Sam Darnold is familiar with Kubiak, as the two spent time together for one season in San Francisco. Still, Darnold will need time to re-familiarize himself with it, as well as develop further chemistry with Kupp, JSN, MVS, Jake Bobo and rookie receivers Tory Horton and Ricky White III.
Needless to say, the new Seahawks are going to need all the time they can get to be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season.

Pete Carroll strongly opposed the proposal that would have taken away a guaranteed home playoff team from division winners, a stance rooted in his own coaching history. For decades, NFL division winners have earned the right to open the playoffs on their home fields, regardless of their records, while wild card teams hit the road. 'I wasn't voting for that other rule. I was voting for the division winners,' Carroll said. 'I like the structure and I like the championship within the championship. That's just part of it. Remember? Own the NFC West was our deal, and own the AFC West is what it is now.' Carroll said anyone who thinks a division winner with a losing record can't make noise in the playoffs need only remember what those 7-9 Seahawks did. 'Remember what we did with it? Remember that freaking game? Nobody ever thought — they were saying, 'This is the worst matchup in the history of the NFL, and we were going to get murdered,'' Carroll said. For this year, the playoff seeding will be unchanged. It's possible that the NFL could revisit the rule next year. If so, expect Carroll to be a voice at the league meeting in favor of guaranteeing division winners home-field advantage.

Advertisement Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell made it clear in a recent interview that he has not crowned McCarthy as the team's starter yet. O'Connell also referenced Malcolm Gladwell's '10,000 hours rule' when talking about McCarthy. 'I feel really good about where he's at fundamentally,' O'Connell said. 'But it's still those 10,000 reps, those 10,000 hours, and we're not that far into that process, and I challenge him every day to embrace it. [He] can't be too hard on himself, but at the same time, 'What is your standard to get not where you are right now, but where you want to get to?' And he's done a good job of attacking that every day.' For those who are unfamiliar, Gladwell's rule is that it takes 10,000 hours of dedicated practice to master a complex skill. McCarthy had the opportunity to process the team's offense mentally throughout the season, which should put him a step ahead this fall. Thankfully, McCarthy is apparently in great shape while he recovers from last year's season-ending injury. Advertisement ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted in a recent article that Minnesota is encouraged by the progress McCarthy has made in his recovery this offseason. 'The Vikings feel that J.J. McCarthy in day nine of his offseason workouts was a lot stronger than day one,' Fowler said. 'Coming off that knee issue, they knew he could start a little slowly, but they like the way he's throwing the ball. They feel very comfortable with where he's at going into training camp; they didn't sign [Aaron Rodgers] in lieu of McCarthy because they believe in their three-year plan… They believe they can win the Super Bowl in the next three years.' Fowler snuck in a bold statement there that Minnesota believes they can win a Super Bowl over the next three seasons. It will be fascinating to see if the Vikings recapture the same magic they had in 2024 later this fall.
