Pakistani father commits suicide after poisoning children over Eid clothes

A financially distressed father in Pakistan poisoned his three children and took his own life after failing to buy them clothes for Eid, the police said, The News reported on Monday.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Sardar Garh Basti Haji Pir area of Rukanpur village.
The man, who worked as a tractor trolley driver, had been unemployed and distressed for several days, the police said.
In a state of despair, they added, he gave poisonous pills to his two disabled sons and daughter, before ingesting them himself.
The father and two children died, while the daughter is currently out of danger, Sheikh Zayed Hospital said in a statement, where the girl was undertreatment.
This year in February, a similar tragedy unfolded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swabi district, wherein a man took his own life after allegedly slaughtering his four children, including two minors.

He said Palestinian families are struggling to secure even a single meal a day for their children, as Israeli attacks far outweigh the aid deliveries entering the strip. 'There was a momentary uptick in aid and slight improvements in water and food supplies… But that optimism has quickly dissolved in the face of a catastrophic blockade on humanitarian relief,' Elder told Anadolu Agency, during an official mission from the southern city of Khan Younis. 'Every known limit of human endurance has been shattered,' he said. 'Mothers go without food for days just to provide a single meal for their children.' Speaking about the absence of Eid celebrations in Gaza, he said: 'Instead of joy, families gather in silence to remember those they've lost, surrounded by an overwhelming sense of grief and abandonment,' he added. 'There are no homes, no shelters - just loss. People spent their lives building homes and gardens, and now everything has disappeared.' He also warned that malnourished children are dying from otherwise treatable illnesses. 'Severe malnutrition makes a child 10 times more likely to die from something minor. This is the deadly cycle: hunger, dirty water, and lack of basic healthcare,' he said.

Newlywed couple commits suicide by jumping before train over honeymoon money
Gulf Today Report A newlywed couple committed suicide by jumping in front of a train after not receiving money for their honeymoon in Pakistani city of Faisalabad, police said on Wednesday. Police said Sajid, a 34-year-old power loom worker and resident of 202 Rab Bhaiwala Adeel Town in the jurisdiction of Millat Town Police Station, Faisalabad, had married Razia about two and a half months ago. The couple had planned to go to Naran, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, for their honeymoon after Eid Al Adha. Sajid asked his elder brothers, Fahad and Zahid, for money, but they were unable to arrange any funds. Early on Tuesday morning, Sajid left home with his 30-year-old wife, Razia Bibi, and went to the Bhaiwala railway crossing near Chairman Stop in Faisalabad district of Punjab. He called his brother Zahid and told him, "I am going to commit suicide with my wife. Come and collect our bodies." After the phone call, Sajid and his wife lay down on the railway tracks. At that moment, the Badr Express train heading from Lahore to Karachi arrived and both husband and wife committed suicide by coming under the train. They died on the spot as their heads were severed from their bodies. Upon seeing the bodies on the railway track, Sajid's elder brother Zahid reached the site and, with the help of passersby, collected their remains. Passersby informed the police. Soon after receiving the report, a Millat Town police team arrived at the scene and, after completing legal formalities, handed the bodies over to the family. Police further revealed that Sajid made a final phone call to Zahid from the railway tracks. Despite his brother's efforts to stop him, Sajid ended the call and lay down on tracks with his wife. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case. Police said that the brother of deceased Sajid informed the police on phone about the incident. Millat Town police registered a case and started its investigation to determine real purpose behind the suicide. Police said the deceased worked at a power loom and had married Razia Bibi two and a half months ago. The couple took their own lives after becoming disheartened when Sajid's brothers could not provide the money they had requested for the honeymoon. Neighbours said that just 15 days after the marriage, the couple was forced to live separately by their families.
