SDAIA Supports Saudi Green Initiative through Transactions Digitalization
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has made bold strides in the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) through its digital services and projects, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
SDAIA is currently supporting the initiative's goals by employing technical solutions to boost environmental sustainability, decrease waste, and support community efforts to protect the environment.
Through these efforts, the authority seeks to highlight the role of digital transformation in building a more prosperous and sustainable future.
Importantly, the unified national access portal (Nafath) has digitized more than 3.3 billion transactions.
Therefore, it significantly reduced paper usage and eliminated around 300,000 daily car trips to service centers.
Moreover, this remarkable achievement has lowered fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
Meanwhile, the Deem Government Cloud has integrated 263 government data centers, saving more than 591 gigawatt-hours of energy.
Apart from this, the national application Tawakkalna App offers seamless services to more than 33 million users and processes up to 100 million digital transactions daily with high efficiency.
As a result, the need for paper-based movement has greatly declined and the sustainability of the Saudi digital infrastructure has seen unprecedented progress.
By funding 48 environmental projects and planting over 261,000 trees, the Ehsan National Platform for Charitable Work has supported the environmental efforts.
In collaboration with 41 charitable organizations, the platform has set a role model in the integration between technology and charitable efforts to protect the environment.
In the light of these efforts, SDAIA stressed its commitment to leading the national efforts, developing digital infrastructure and boosting digital economy.

SDAIA Facilitates Departure of Iranian Pilgrims via Jadidat Arar Tech
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has deployed advanced technologies and smart systems—coordinating with relevant authorities—to facilitate the departure of Iranian pilgrims through the Jadidat Arar border crossing toward Iran. This initiative follows the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the recommendation of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to ensure the provision of all necessary services and support for Iranian pilgrims until they return safely to their families. SDAIA field teams began operations before and during the pilgrims' arrival by executing a comprehensive technical plan. This included testing both primary and backup systems and ensuring the readiness of communication networks to guarantee continuous service. Routine preventive maintenance was carried out, and workstations were equipped with cutting-edge technologies and digital infrastructure. These efforts, in close coordination with government agencies, enabled streamlined procedures to maximize operational efficiency and enhance the pilgrims' experience. SDAIA remains committed to empowering government entities with data- and AI-driven solutions to serve pilgrims and Umrah performers. Through the use of digital platforms, emerging technologies, and skilled personnel, SDAIA continues to support Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by boosting government service performance and accelerating procedural efficiency. SDAIA: Generative AI spending to hit $202 billion by 2028
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has released a new report titled "Generative Artificial Intelligence: Promising Prospects for a Better Future," shedding light on the transformative impact of generative AI technologies and the substantial economic opportunities they present. The report emphasizes the acceleration of global investment and adoption of generative AI, a technology that enables machines to create content such as text, images, code, and simulations by learning patterns from vast datasets. Unlike traditional AI — which is generally limited to classification, prediction, and recommendations — generative AI is capable of complex and creative output across industries. Citing research from Deloitte, SDAIA notes that generative AI can reduce operational costs by 30% or more through task automation and productivity enhancement. A McKinsey survey of over 1,300 companies showed that human resources departments saw cost reductions between 10% and 37%, while supply chain functions recorded profit increases of over 6% in some report also references 2024 projections from IDC, which forecast that global spending on generative AI will surge to $202 billion (SR758.7 billion) by 2028. That figure is expected to represent 32% of total global AI spending, which is projected to reach $632 billion (SR2.4 trillion). In the Gulf region, SDAIA highlights the findings of a 2024 McKinsey study that surveyed 140 public and private sector study found that 75% of participants were using generative AI in at least one area — notably sales, marketing, and software engineering — reflecting the high value generated in these 57% of respondents allocate 5% of their digital budgets to generative AI, and half have developed implementation roadmaps for key use report also points to the rapid pace of global adoption, with 80% of organizations expected to implement generative AI solutions by 2027, 50% are projected to use specialized models, and more than 100 million people globally are expected to rely on robots as digital assistants.
