In 5 years, 10 mid-tier IT companies join $1 billion club
BENGALURU: Call it the mid-tier IT firm's breakout moment. Over the past decade, 15 companies crossed the $1 billion revenue mark—10 of them in just the last five years, with several more on the cusp.
This marks a structural shift in the mid-tier segment, packing a bigger punch.
Take Coforge, for instance. It aims to achieve a revenue milestone of $2 billion by fiscal 2027. The company surpassed $1 billion in revenue during the financial year 2022-23, demonstrating a year-on-year growth of 22.4% in constant currency terms. Digital engineering company Nagarro's revenue crossed $1 billion in the 2023 financial year, up from $908 million in the corresponding period last year.
Nagarro follows a January to December financial year.
The company recorded a growth of 9.4% in constant currency in 2023. Of Nagarro's 18,000 employees, 12,000 are based in India across 12 cities.
While these companies were growth-ready, former Cognizant India CMD Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, in a LinkedIn post, said three powerful forces have redefined their trajectory. Seasoned leaders from tier-1 firms brought strategic clarity, global perspective, and execution muscle—sharpening the edge of mid-tier companies.

With more such leaders being made available today, in the years to come, we should see a larger number of companies get past the magical $1 billion in revenue, ably compete with Tier-1 players, and catalyse growth.

In the last four months, nearly a dozen mid-sized firms saw top deck changes. LTIMindtree welcomed Venu Lambu as their new chief executive, while Virtusa brought in Nitin Banga from Global Logic to lead as their CEO.
Rohit Kedia, who brings 28 years of experience in technology and digital engineering, was appointed CEO at ChrysCapital-owned digital engineering company Xoriant. He previously served as chief growth officer at LTIMindtree.
Engineering services firm Cyient appointed Sukamal Banerjee as CEO of its DET (digital, engineering and technology) business.

The combination of first-rate executives, acquisitions, and focused investments in sales and marketing has proven a sure-fire recipe to drive highly profitable and fast growth.

These shifts have repositioned mid-tier companies as credible contenders, not just fast followers—rewriting what growth looks like in the industry's next chapter.

Strict action will be taken against projects lacking proper permissions, says HYDRAA chief
Hyderabad: At the Times Home Hunt Property Expo held recently, Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) commissioner A V Ranganath cautioned that any new projects lacking proper permissions or built on encroached land will face strict action. 'Only layouts approved before HYDRAA's formation on July 19 last year will be exempt. All others must comply with current regulations,' said Ranganath, noting that unchecked construction contributed significantly to urban issues like flooding and traffic congestion. HYDRAA was set up not just as a watchdog, he said, but also as a proactive body aimed at promoting sustainable and responsible urban development. 'HYDRAA is not just about demolitions. We are focused on creating a healthier, more environmentally conscious real estate ecosystem,' Ranganath added. The authority is working closely with other agencies to rejuvenate lakes, address urban flooding, and improve drainage infrastructure. State to survey lakes with drones, rovers
Bengaluru: To eliminate the need for repeated surveys of lakes and improve conservation efforts, the state survey and settlement department (SSLR) has switched to high-tech digital mapping, using drones and rovers. This large-scale effort, covering thousands of waterbodies, is expected to modernise how the state tracks its lakes and prevent encroachments. SSLR commissioner J Manjunath said. "We will also mark buffer zones of the lakes during the survey. This digital survey will be helpful to preserve, conserve, and protect the lakes," he added. To manage the data generated from these surveys, the department has developed dedicated software named Web GiS, which will serve as a centralised database for various govt agencies. Each surveyed lake's file will include its exact GPS coordinates, survey numbers, boundaries, extent, ownership (govt department or agency), encroachment details if any, and survey sketches. In the past two years alone, digital surveys were completed for 8,433 lakes using drones and rovers. These details have already been uploaded on Web GiS. Officials estimate only 6,210 lakes remain to be digitally mapped. Realty market rebounding after a two-year slump, says Telangana minister at Times Home Hunt Property Expo
Hyderabad: After two years of sluggish growth, Hyderabad's real estate sector is experiencing a strong resurgence, said IT and Industries minister D Sridhar Babu at the Times Home Hunt Property Expo on Saturday. He stated that the market had recorded consistent 13% month-on-month growth in property registrations since February 2025. 'The real estate sector registered a 15.4% growth in 2024–25, while the construction sector alone contributed 11.97%, adding nearly 80,000 crore to the state's economy,' he said. He also noted that in February 2025, 5,900 property registrations were recorded, with 18% of the registered properties priced above Rs 1 crore. Year-on-year transactional growth stood at 6%.
