Bomb Threats At Delhi's Udyog Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan Turn Out To Be Hoax

Threats via e-mails to blow up two government buildings in central Delhi -- Udyog Bhawan and Nirman Bhawan -- prompted security agencies to carry out an extensive sanitisation exercise. The threat later turned out to be a hoax.
The threat, sent via email at 6.49 am to senior officials at the two central government complexes, claimed that "ammonium sulfur-based Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have been twinned" within the premises and warned, "Evacuate All by 3.15 pm." The "suicide IEDs" threat was issued through identical e-mails sent at 6.49 am to the top officials of the ministries housed in the two facilities.
Udyog Bhawan houses offices of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry along with the Ministry of Heavy Industries, while Nirman Bhawan is home to the Union Health and Housing and Urban Affairs ministries.
Security officials told PTI that the hoax e-mails are suspected to have been sent from abroad, possibly Amsterdam, and the central cyber protection agencies are tracking their trail.
The office of the secretary of Heavy Industries and officials from the adjoining Nirman Bhawan flagged the e-mail contents to security agencies including the Delhi Police, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Delhi Fire Services (DFS).
The CISF is tasked to provide a counter-terrorist cover to the two buildings.
A multi-agency sanitisation and anti-sabotage check was initiated in the two Bhawans early this morning. No incriminating or suspicious items was recovered and the threat was declared a "non-specific or hoax" by late afternoon, security officials said.
The official staff and other people present in the ministries housed in the buildings were not evacuated as per the standard operating procedure (SOP), they said.
Around a dozen sniffer dogs, four bomb detection and disposal teams of the CISF, Delhi Police and Delhi Metro were pressed in for conducting the sanitisation exercise, they added.
"The anti-sabotage operations lasted for around two hours till 5.10 pm. The threat has been declared hoax after thorough check of the premises," a DFS officer said According to fire service officials, they received a call regarding the threat email at 1.01 pm and a team of fire brigade was rushed to the spot.
The security apparatus at the two buildings was further strengthened with CISF officers seen checking vehicles before allowing entry into premises and visitors being thoroughly checked.

New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): North West District's Delhi Police arrested two individuals in a Bisleri bottle racket and seized a large quantity of fake packaging material and equipment. The police recovered 127 counterfeit Bisleri stickers, 387 counterfeit barcodes, 20 litres of bottles, 26 counterfeit Bisleri labels, and seven heater guns and lighters. A complaint was received from Bisleri representatives regarding the illegal manufacturing and sale of counterfeit Bisleri bottles. Upon receiving information, a team of officers investigated the counterfeiters and in a raid conducted arrested two individuals. The accused individuals have been charged under the Copyright Act. Additionally, action has been initiated against Vishal Gupta under the Environment Protection Act for supplying water for the manufacturing process. Further investigation is underway. Earlier on June 20, the Delhi Police arrested a man for duping people by posing as a customer care executive of a credit card delivery service and sending malicious APK files to gain unauthorised access to their devices. According to the police, a complaint was received on April 17 in which the complainant stated that he had applied for a new SBI credit card, which was scheduled to be delivered to his residence. However, when the delivery agent arrived, the complainant was not at home, and the card could not be delivered. Subsequently, the complainant searched online for the customer care number of the delivery app and contacted a number that appeared on the search. He requested that the credit card be delivered to a new address. The person on the other end of the call asked him to make a payment of Rs 5 for the rescheduled delivery and sent him a malicious APK file to facilitate the transaction. After downloading the file, the complainant attempted to make the payment but was unsuccessful. Shortly afterwards, he discovered that an amount of Rs 50,000 had been fraudulently deducted from his account. It was later established that the accused had posed as a customer care representative and defrauded the complainant. Following a preliminary inquiry, a case was registered and an investigation was launched. The investigation was conducted meticulously, analysing all key facts and technical details. The complainant provided screenshots of transactions made, revealing that the amount was deducted via UPI and sent to an alleged UPI ID. With the assistance of the technical investigation, the accused person was identified as Asad Ali Abbas, a resident of Chittaranjan Avenue, Kolkata. Based on sustained surveillance, a raid was conducted in Chittaranjan Park, Kolkata, and Abbas was apprehended. During interrogation, Asad Ali Abbas admitted to his involvement in sending malicious APK files to victims, gaining remote access to their devices, and committing cybercrimes. One mobile phone, allegedly used in the commission of the crime, was recovered from the accused. The investigation revealed the modus operandi of the accused, and a further probe is underway to uncover any potential accomplices or additional crimes. (ANI)

Fake stickers, heater guns and borewell water – that's how two men, apprehended on Saturday, were producing fake Bisleri water bottles and selling them to vendors in the open market, the Delhi Police said. The investigators also seized 127 fake Bisleri Stickers, 55 fake Bisleri bottle caps, 387 counterfeit barcodes, and seven heater guns and lighters. On Thursday, representatives of mineral water giant Bisleri paid an unusual visit to the Subhash Nagar police station. Their bottled water was everywhere in the North West Delhi region, reportedly even where they had not supplied it. The police team talked to vendors and, using manual and technical surveillance, got to know about a factory in the Shakarpur area from where a large number of Bisleri bottles were allegedly being supplied. 'The team collected all the necessary information and after verifying the authenticity of the information, conducted raid at the premises in Shakarpur. Two people were apprehended and 20-litre water bottles bearing counterfeit stickers, cap, and barcode of 'BISLERI' were seized along with the heater guns used for pasting the stickers on the bottles,' Bhisham Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North West, said. The two apprehended, Sikander, 30, and Ashish 19, told the police they were operating the joint together. 'They disclosed that the manufacturing unit was established last year and had since been actively engaged in the production of counterfeit Bisleri bottles,' DCP Singh said. The accused also told the police about the source of their water supply. A man named Vishal Gupta, allegedly extracted water using illegal boring techniques and sold it to the accused for packaging. Another case was registered against him under sections 5 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act at Subhash Place police station.

According to their complaint, an Air India staffer has stated that they noticed a man running towards a plane, risking flight movement and potentially causing a fatal incident had some aircraft been taking off.
