JEE Advanced 2025 results out, Rajit Gupta from Kota tops the exam
JAIPUR: The results of the JEE Advanced 2025 examination have been announced. The examination was conducted by IIT Kanpur on May 18 in two shifts for 17,740 seats across 23 IITs in the country.
Approximately 2.5 lakh students, who qualified JEE Main were eligible to appear for the Advanced examination.
Once again, Kota has reaffirmed its reputation as the hub of engineering exam preparation. Rajit Gupta, who prepared in Kota, has secured All India Rank (AIR) 1, emerging as the national topper.
Three other students from Kota have also made it to the top 10. Saksham Jindal secured AIR 2, Akshat bagged AIR 6, and Devesh achieved AIR 8.
Many other candidates also featured in the top 50 and top 100 ranks.
Clearly, despite the student suicides often upsetting the city in recent times, Kota retains its legacy in training aspirants to crack the prestigious IIT exams.
All India topper Rajit Gupta is a resident of Mahavir Nagar-III in Kota. His father, Deepak Gupta, is an engineer with the BSNL department and his mother, Dr. Shruti Agarwal, is a professor at JDB Girls College in Kota.
This marks the second consecutive year that a Kota-based student has topped JEE Advanced. In 2024, Ved Lahoti, also from Kota, had achieved this feat.
Rajit had earlier scored 100 percentile in the JEE Main January session and secured AIR 16 in the April session. 'Happiness is the key to success", Rajit Gupta said following the results.
Rajit said, 'During my preparation, my main focus was on not repeating my past mistakes. Correcting errors strengthens your foundation in the subject. I believe happiness is the key to success. I try to stay happy in every situation. Even now, whenever I get time, I play with children in the colony.'

He painted a vivid picture of this cultural synthesis, with the arrival of Sufi saints, the fascinating journey of Urdu, noting "every single genre of Urdu poetry has developed in Deccan" before maturing in 17th-century Delhi, and the evolution of iconic foods were all threads in Delhi's rich tapestry. Hashmi reminded the audience that modern Delhi, inaugurated as the capital in 1931, is remarkably young, "still less than 100 years old", yet built upon millennia of accumulated history and cultural exchange.

The Civil Services Examination(CSE) is one of the toughest exams in India. The exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in three phases. Initially, candidates appear for the preliminary round. Once they qualify, the aspirants are required to appear in the mains round and then in the personality test subsequently. Simi Karan, an IAS officer from Odisha, realized her dream of being part of the civil services at a very young age. She achieved this at the age of just 23 after getting her engineering degree earlier from IIT in the same year she cleared the UPSC exam. Originally from Odisha, Simi Karan spent the majority of her childhood in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. According to the DNA report, Simi's father served as an employee of the Bhilai Steel Plant while her mother was a school teacher. Simi was an intelligent and hard-working student at school. After completing her schooling, she studied electrical engineering at IIT Bombay. While in university, she was invited to teach children living in the neighbouring slum areas, and seeing for herself the struggles those children faced, impacted her greatly and encouraged her to make an impact. This experience led her to prepare for the civil services and work towards making a real difference. 'I never focused on the hours of study, but rather set short-term goals (daily, sometimes even hourly) to focus on achieving… So, the schedule fluctuated accordingly, but on an average, I studied for 8-10 hours. I would also like to highlight that I focused on the quality of study, limited resources and made time for entertainment like jogging, watching stand-up comedy to relax my mind, Simi Karan shared thoughts on her UPSC journey. In 2019, Simi's dedication bore fruit when she achieved an outstanding All India Rank of 31, securing her position in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Simi secured 820 marks in the written examination, 201 marks in the personality test. Overall, she scored 1021 marks in the UPSC Civil Services(Main) Examination, 2019.
