Smirking and laughing, sadistic serial killer Fred West is being interviewed about his missing teenage daughter as police dig up his patio. As we see footage of the paving slabs being levered up from the garden of 25 Cromwell Street in February 1994, we can hear the creepy tape as West talks to detectives.
This documentary is gripping from the off as three episodes rake over the lives and crimes of Britain's most notorious and prolific husband and wife serial killers. Recently-discovered police recordings fill in a few gaps as the series shows how Gloucestershire police was able to unearth the remains of the West couple's 12 victims to build a case against them. Relatives of some of the victims speak about their pain and torment, while we also hear from people who were involved with the case and remain haunted.
It begins with insight into how it began - when the West children said that if they misbehaved they would end up under the patio like their sister Heather, who had been missing for years. In a chilling interview, Fred West admits killing her and describes using a bread knife to cut up her body. Howard Ogden, Fred West's solicitor, says: 'A man is describing murdering and dismembering his daughter. It wasn't with floods of tears of distress and stress and anxiety, it was a set of facts. He adds: 'We found Heather. It was meant to be the end of the story, but it turned out, tragically, that it was only the beginning.'

In this latest offering, architect Hugh Wallace follows adventurous homeowners as they battle to restore derelict or unloved historical properties to their former glory. Expect collapsing walls, unexpected plumbing problems and people running around frantically in hard hats as they try to achieve their dreams brick by tortuous brick, all while spewing money literally up the walls.
This series is set in Ireland as people try to create their visions in the ruined walls of Ireland's past. 'What possessed you to buy this?' asks Hugh as he meets Mary-Claire and Sully as they transform a four-bedroom Georgian house into a modern home, while also trying to pay homage to the building's rich past. Hugh then observes over 16 months as the couple battle to turn a demolition site into a serene home.
Mackenzie is jealous of John and Aaron's relationship. He begins to plot, while Matty watches on amused. Moira is haunted by memories of the past. She finally shows Ross the mysterious letter - the news that he has a half-brother he's never met throws him off balance. At first Ross buries his head in the sand, but Matty suggests that meeting him could change his life for the better. Bear is panicked to see Mandy and Paddy have boxed up his possessions.
Ian and Kathy excitedly prepare for the baby's welcome home party, but disaster strikes when Cindy arrives. Peter shuns Cindy, and feeling cast out once again, Cindy decides to play the video of Kathy and Harvey kissing at his and Jean's engagement announcement. Suki tries to talk to Avani about sleeping with Joel, but Avani is in no mood to talk and storms out. Later Suki finds a quiet moment to reveal everything to Priya, but Ravi comes home and overhears everything.
When Mick sends Liam for bacon sarnies, he fails to come back. Gary and Maria find him skulking in the café, where Liam opens up about how Mick locked him in the tool shed. Maria is horrified. In his column for the newspaper on Sunday, Mr Healey penned: "The safety of UK personnel and bases is my top priority. Force protection is at its highest level, and we deployed additional jets this week." Senior defence officials are particularly cautious of the use of drones following an event where Ukrainian drones wreaked havoc on 40 Russian aircrafts –including those capable of carrying nuclear warheads– across Russia. With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Russia's employment of Iranian-made Shahed drones has led to widespread power outages and significant destruction of infrastructure. ‌ The Shahed-136's explosive payload, originally designed to demolish buildings, can now also deliver lethal fragmentation or thermobaric blasts. Iran has recently deployed these drones against targets in Israel. Earlier this month, Sir Keir Starmer confirmed that additional RAF jets would be dispatched to the region to enhance security. British bases in the Middle East include RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, where 14 RAF jets are currently stationed, as well as naval hubs in Bahrain and Oman and shared airbases in Qatar and the UAE. Potential extra security measures could involve increasing armed guards, issuing live ammunition and deploying more radar systems. The US acted independently in its strikes on Iran, and so far Iran's threats of retaliation have been solely directed at America. It is understood that British bases are not yet preparing for any immediate, targeted attack, but the heightened alert reflects the broad range of threats - from rockets to improvised explosive devices - that UK forces could potentially face.
