Microsoft Issues Critical Windows Update—Do Not Delete This
You have been warned — do not hit delete.

You won't like this. If you're at risk from this Windows security vulnerability, the fix is a nightmare unless you're a fairly expert user. That's not ideal, and it's all down to an update quietly installed on your PC without explanation in April.
You may recall the awkward saga of the 'inetpub' folder and 'Microsoft's confusing messaging on deleting or not deleting this mysterious folder on your PC that could leave you and your PC at risk.' Plenty of users deleted the folder that suddenly turned up.
'After installing this update or a later Windows update,' Microsoft later explained, the new folder will appear on your device. 'This folder should not be deleted.'
This empty folder, Windows Latest explains, 'is typically associated with Internet Information Services (IIS), which is a native Windows service that allows developers to host websites or apps on Windows 11.' The empty folder appeared without explanation. 'Some of us assumed that it's a bug with the cumulative update and deleted the folder.'
Now we have news of an actual fix. 'If you deleted the 'inetpub' folder, created after Windows April 2025 updates,' Windows Latest warns, 'you need to immediately bring it back.' You can turn on the IIS service or 'use a new PowerShell script.'
Only after all those deletions did the explanation come. The 'inetpub' folder 'is created as part of a security patch for CVE-2025-21204,' Windows Latest says, 'and it doesn't matter whether IIS is turned on or not. It'll show up, and you're not supposed to delete it, and if you deleted it, please bring it back, according to Microsoft.'
You can turn on IIS, 'however, that's something most people don't want to do because IIS also creates additional folders, which are not required unless you're a developer. Instead you can run Microsoft's newly released PowerShell script.
First ensure you're logged in as an Administrator, then you can follow Windows Latest's instructions:
Mostly users are unlikely to go through this, which will leave them at risk. 'As per Microsoft, without the folder and its correct ACLs (Access Control Lists), you remain exposed to potential privilege escalation or unauthorized access.'

Roper Technologies, Inc. (ROP): A Bull Case Theory
We came across a bullish thesis on Roper Technologies, Inc. (ROP) on FluentinQuality's Substack. In this article, we will summarize the bulls' thesis on ROP. Roper Technologies, Inc. (ROP)'s share was trading at $572.18 as of 10th June. ROP's trailing and forward P/E were 41.32 and 28.82 respectively according to Yahoo Finance. An experienced software engineer working on a complex line of code in a programming suite. Roper Technologies may still carry an industrial-sounding name, but the company has long since transformed into a stealth giant in mission-critical software. Its portfolio spans healthcare, education, insurance, and compliance sectors where reliability and low switching costs reign supreme. Rather than chase trends, Roper quietly acquires foundational software businesses that customers can't operate without, often holding them indefinitely. These aren't flashy, hyper-growth startups but high-retention, capital-light cash generators that offer strong free cash flow from day one. With a disciplined M&A strategy, Roper targets niche market leaders, pays based on cash yield instead of frothy market comps, and preserves each acquisition's operational autonomy. It avoids fixer-uppers and instead builds a collection of enduring franchises. The result is a business model that delivers SaaS-like gross margins north of 60% and operating margins exceeding 30%, all without the volatility or high burn of traditional software players. Its revenue base is highly recurring, providing resilience across market cycles, while reinvestment remains methodical and dividends grow in lockstep with free cash flow. Roper's strength lies in its ability to unify a seemingly diverse portfolio through pricing power, long-term contracts, and dominant positions in fragmented markets. Though under-the-radar and rarely in the headlines, Roper steadily compounds capital with Berkshire-like patience and software economics. For investors seeking reliable, high-margin, cash-generative software with structural staying power, Roper offers a compelling alternative to more speculative tech names. It's not about scale for scale's sake—it's about quiet durability, and Roper has been delivering that in spades for decades. Previously, we highlighted a on Roper Technologies (ROP) by D Invests, which emphasized its transformation from industrial supplier to asset-light software compounder, driven by disciplined M&A and exceptional cash efficiency. FluentInQuality reinforces this view but goes further—casting Roper as a Berkshire-like capital allocator in disguise, quietly assembling high-retention software franchises that deliver SaaS economics without the hype. Roper Technologies, Inc. (ROP) is not on our list of the 30 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As per our database, 46 hedge fund portfolios held ROP at the end of the first quarter which was 54 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the risk and potential of ROP as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. Samsung Makes New Free Offer To Millions Of Galaxy Phones And Tablets
Samsung Galaxy S25 (left) and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (right) are included in the Perplexity offer. ... More (Photo by Firdous Nazir/NurPhoto via Getty Images) Samsung Galaxy device users are eating well at the moment. After giving free access to streaming services and photo editing software, the company has a new free subscription offer for millions of existing Galaxy phone and tablet owners. The Korean company is giving away 12 months of chatbot Perplexity AI Pro, which is worth $200, to Galaxy phone and tablet owners in the U.S. To get the deal, head to the Galaxy Store, download the Perplexity AI app and create an account. That's it, you should now have a full year of the Pro tier of Perplexity AI. If you have used Gemini, ChatGPT, Copilot—or any other chatbot—you will be familiar with Perplexity. It claims to focus on accuracy by always providing citations for its answers. The Pro version gives users more options for tailoring their output results from AI models, including GPT-4 Omni, Claude 3, and Google's Gemini. Other Pro features allow text-to-image generation, file uploads, and an increased amount of daily searches, which uses more sources for more detailed answers. This is one of Samsung's more generous software giveaways this year. The last year-long subscription Samsung gifted to Galaxy users was for Disney Plus via its now-defunct 'Boost' program. Two years on, a similar, more 2025-inspired, freebie has been made exclusively to U.S. Galaxy phone owners. None of the current lineup of bundled subscription services, that come with Galaxy S25 purchases, extend beyond one month—the only exception being six months of Gemini Advanced. It isn't worth buying a Samsung phone for any of those software freebies (it is, however, for the free tablet and trade-in deals). But the good thing about the Perplexity offer is that it doesn't require the purchase of a new phone. Have a look around for an old Samsung phone and see if you can still claim the subscription. Let me know me know if that works. Samsung's Big Freebie Gamble Samsung's free Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and £200 trade in deal. So far this year, Samsung has bundled a free tablet and a free pair of Galaxy Buds with Galaxy S25 purchases, given away a Galaxy S25 with select TVs and massively raised trade-in prices to unprecedented levels. The best offers and freebies have been bundled with the Galaxy S25 Edge, which could be related to a recent report that claimed the device may not be selling well. The fact that Samsung has launched some of its most aggressive trade-in pricing I have seen, for the Edge, hints that may be the case. It also shows what lengths the Korean company will go to to shift smartphones—so there may be more deals on the way for the Edge and other Galaxy phones. Bernstein SocGen Lifts MSFT Target to $540 on AI-Driven Cloud Outlook
Bernstein SocGen has raised its price target on Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) to $540 from $520, and kept an Outperform rating for the stock a couple of weeks ago. Shares are trading at $477, near their 52-week high, with a market cap of $3.55 trillion. The firm sees longer-term upside tied to Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI. If OpenAI's roadmap unfolds as projected, Azure stands to capture a sizable share of the resulting demand, particularly in cloud infrastructure. Bernstein believes this could materially boost Microsoft's top line by 2029–2030. Image by Tawanda Razika from Pixabay To account for this, the analysts raised their revenue forecast for FY27 and increased earnings estimates for FY26 and FY27. They've also bumped Microsoft's valuation multiple from 28.5x to 29.5x. Most of the expected gains fall outside the near-term forecast window, but the analysts argue the long-range potential is strong enough to justify the upward adjustment. Azure's position in the AI supply chain remains central to that view. While we acknowledge the potential of MSFT as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk.
