UFC fighters to be featured in Topps' Debut Patch program

Topps will expand its popular Rookie Patch Autograph program into its fourth league this weekend with the new UFC Debut Patch.
The first patch in the program will be worn by Andreas Gustafsson for ESPN FN 189: Erin Blanchfield vs. Maycee Barber on Saturday. Gustafsson will face Trevin Giles in a Catch Weight fight.
According to Fanatics, fighters will wear the debut patches on the right sleeve of their walkout jerseys before the fight. Patches will be removed after the fight and transported to Topps' Dallas-area facility where they will be placed into one-of-one trading cards.
Each card will later be autographed by the fighter.
Topps didn't immediately announce which product UFC debut patches will appear in.
The addition of UFC is the latest expansion to the debut patch program, which first launched as part of 2023 Topps Chrome Update Baseball. The program was later added to MLS in 2024 and WWE earlier this year.
Fanatics Collectibles and UFC agreed to a new exclusive deal for trading cards in early 2024. Topps previously made cards for the company from 2009 to 2020.
Since its launch, the debut patch program has proven to be one of Topps' most successful innovations since being acquired by Fanatics in 2022. To date, eight Rookie Debut Patch Autographs have sold for $25,000 or more, according to public records logged by Card Ladder.
The most expensive sale from the program came earlier this year when the Paul Skenes 1/1 sold for $1.11 million in Fanatics Collect's March Premier Auction.
It was later announced the card was acquired by national retailer Dick's Sporting Goods, which placed the Skenes RDPA on display in a Pittsburgh-area store.

Josh Harris buys Jayden Daniels trading card for $500K

Commanders owner Josh Harris hit the jackpot when his team drafted quarterback Jayden Daniels with the second overall pick in 2024 and a couple of trading card dealers did the same with a Daniels card this weekend. Josh Roth and Jacob Ramos purchased a one-of-one 2024 Daniels Panini Prizm card for somewhere in the $300,000 range and brought it to the Fanatics Fest in New York City. Daniels and Harris were also at the event and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin asked who had the rarest Daniels card during an appearance with the two men. Roth and Ramos answered that call and Rubin then negotiated a $500,000 sale to Rubin. 'It was such an experience to be on stage with just everyone. It really happened so fast. Moments like that are timeless,' Ramos said, via Larry Holder of Harris plans to display the card at Northwest Stadium during a 2025 season that he, Daniels and the Commanders hope is even more successful than his standout rookie year.

Imavov (16-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) takes on Caio Borralho (17-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) in the Sept. 6 main event at Accor Arena in Paris, promotion officials announced Monday. Imavov initially intended on serving as the official backup for the middleweight title fight between champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev Aug. 19 in the UFC 319 main event from Chicago. However, he has now opted to take another fight against Borralho, who has been calling him out for a while. Imavov is coming off his biggest win to date, a knockout of former champion Israel Adesanya at UFC Fight Night 250. Borralho hasn't competed since a Fight of the Night main event win over Jared Cannonier at UFC on ESPN 62 last August. The 32-year-old Brazilian is unbeaten in his past 17 fights.
