Google Cloud site says ‘no major incidents' amid outage; social media reacts

Google Cloud services were down for thousands of users on Thursday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, although the website stated that there were no major incidents.
There were more than 11,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Google Cloud, according to Downdetector.
Users on social media responded to the situation with sarcastic and humorous takes.

One user wrote, 'google cloud: 'No major incidents'....... YOU SURE ABOUT THAT? '
Another user said, 'sorry guys there is no google cloud outage its all in your head' with a picture of the Google Cloud website.
One person wrote, 'I do love how the Google Cloud Status page is always the last one to know that Google Cloud is down'
Anothr user wrote, 'was coding when i started getting CORS errors for no reason, didnt even touch the backend. i open supabase and my tables are not fetching, clearly its down. i open x and i see google cloud is down on my tl as well. whats happening?'

Several users have also highlighted that other services such as Google's Gemini, Cloudflare and Firebase were also being affected by the disruption. A partial outage has also been reported in applications dependent on Google Cloud.
Google cloud: 'It's only a major outage if it comes from the Outagè region of France,' one user said.
So far, Google has not responded to the reports about the Google Cloud and Gemini outage.
Earlier, in March this year, internet users reported trouble with their Google Chromecast. The Chromecast outage came amid discontinuation news. Google officially discontinued the Chromecast device, replacing it with the new Google TV Streamer.

Average speed of vehicle in city is 25 kmph: Hyd'bad police chief

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand emphasised that the average vehicle speed in the city has significantly increased to 24 to 25 kilometres per hour, up from last year's 17 to 18 kmph. The Commissioner attributed these positive results to the diligent efforts of the Hyderabad Traffic Police and extended his sincere thanks to everyone involved. On Friday, during a review meeting on traffic problems in Hyderabad City and their solutions, C V Anand noted that approximately 1,600 new vehicles are added to the roads every day. Across the three Commissionerates, a staggering total of 91 lakh vehicles are on the roads daily. During the meeting, the Commissioner provided guidance on the fundamental principles of traffic control and management. He stated that currently, 80 per cent of traffic signals in Hyderabad are operating on auto mode, which is effectively helping to clear traffic quickly. Regarding traffic violations, police are focusing on the quality of penalties rather than merely the quantity of fines imposed. This strategic approach, he explained, has led to a reduction in overall traffic fines. 'We are monitoring Hyderabad's traffic through drone cameras. To further improve Hyderabad's traffic system, we are taking assistance from Google. In addition to Google Maps, Google is also providing us with technical support,' he revealed. The Commissioner highlighted that, with the cooperation of owners of high rise multi storied buildings in Hyderabad, 25 'high rise cameras' are being installed on these buildings to obtain an 'Eagle View'. Through these, traffic officials can proactively identify traffic problems, alert local traffic authorities, and provide suggestions for appropriate solutions.

Apple executives have held internal talks about potentially bidding for artificial intelligence startup Perplexity, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The discussions are at an early stage and may not lead to an offer, the report said, adding that the tech behemoth's executives have not discussed a bid with Perplexity's management. Apple and Perplexity did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. Big tech companies are doubling down investments to enhance AI capabilities and support growing demand for AI-powered services to maintain competitive leadership in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
