Hyd -bound Lufthansa flight diverted over bomb threat
London/Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight made a U-turn and landed back at Frankfurt airport late on Sunday due to a bomb threat, said sources. The bomb threat was received about two hours after Flight LH752 took off from Germany at 2.14 pm local time on Sunday. It was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. However, the passengers were told that the flight was not given 'permission to land' in India.
Flight LH752 departed from Germany around 14.14 local time on Sunday and was scheduled to land at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday but flight tracker data showed a diversion a few hours into the flight.
A passenger on board the flight said from Frankfurt Airport that they were being provided overnight accommodation as their flight was rescheduled for Monday morning.
'We just landed back in Frankfurt around 15 minutes ago and all we were told is that Hyderabad hasn't given permission to land the flight there,' said the female passenger en route from the US to visit her mother in Hyderabad.
'It was a smooth flight and after about two hours in the air, we were told that we would be returning to Frankfurt. Now at the airport, they are providing us accommodation for the night and have told us that we will fly out later by the same flight,' she said.
There was no immediate comments from authorities in Hyderabad.
While Lufthansa has been approached for further updates and reasons behind the aborted flight, a Frankfurt Airport spokesperson confirmed that LH752 had landed back in Germany.
'We can confirm that there was a return to Frankfurt Airport. For further information, please contact the Federal Police or the airline,' the spokesperson said.
Lufthansa's live flight tracker on its website showed LH752 landed back at Frankfurt around 1730 local time.
According to the website, the aircraft is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
Earlier tracker data for the flight showing it was en route to Hyderabad was updated just before the updated landing information for Frankfurt.
The flight tracker website flightaware.com also reflected similar information, though the exact reasons behind the diversion remain unestablished.
Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a message that the flight was
returning to Frankfurt a short while after it had taken off from the German hub airport.

Air India cancels 8 flights, four of them int'l services
Mumbai: Air India has cancelled eight flights, including four international services, on Friday due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons, the airline said. Air India said its teams on the ground are making alternative arrangements for the passengers to fly to their respective destinations at the earliest. It has also offered full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling to passengers, the airline said. The international flights to be cancelled were AI906 from Dubai to Chennai, AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne, AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi, and AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad. Air India said four domestic flights -- AI874 from Pune to Delhi, AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi, AI-2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai, and AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai -- have been cancelled. A Madurai-bound Indigo flight suffered a technical snag mid-air on Friday and returned here, airport officials and sources in the airline said. After flying for about half an hour, the pilot of the flight detected the snag, and sought permission to fly back to Chennai and land, they said. The plane, carrying about 68 passengers, later landed safely here and all the passengers were deplaned with due safety measures in place, they added.

Mid-Air scare: Air India's shaking door makes hissing noise; crew manages situation, flight lands safely
Representative Image MUMBAI: Passengers on board an Air India flight from Delhi to Hong Kong had a harrowing time after a door of the Boeing 787 aircraft started shaking and making hissing, growling noises about an hour into the flight operated on June 1. AI's flight attendants plugged paper napkins into the thin gap at the top of the door and pushed it to seal and quieten it, while the flight continued to its destination and landed safely. This was not the first case of a B787 having a door grumbling mid-flight. At least three other instances were recorded by airlines, the first in 2019 by Japan Airlines and then two cases in 2022 involving German carrier TUI Airlines and American Airlines. In all three cases, pilots diverted the flight back to the airport of origin because of the noisy doors. The Boeing 787 aircraft and safety concerns around it have been in focus since the June 12 Ahmedabad crash which killed 275 people. The incident on the flight to Hong Kong took place before that. Passengers might find such incidents unnerving, but a hissing door poses no major risk to flight safety, and aircraft doors don't open mid-flight, pilots pointed out. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo The incident occurred on flight AI-314 which left Delhi at 11.45 pm, over an hour after its scheduled departure time. "About an hour after take-off, the door started shaking and making noises. It seemed the door seal came off due to air pressure," said a recent post on social media, quoting a passenger.
