Free exhibition train to visit Glasgow Central Station

The exhibition train, named Inspiration, is part of a national celebration marking 200 years of the modern railway, aptly called Railway 200.
It is set to visit 60 locations, with Glasgow Central Station being the 16th stop on its busy schedule.
Tickets to explore the train for free can be booked online from now until August 17 at railway200.co.uk/inspiration/.
Inspiration is the sole exhibition train on the rail network, curated in partnership with the National Railway Museum.
The four-carriage train is designed to offer an engaging journey through rail's history, highlighting landmark moments in rails development, pioneering engineering feats and future roles in the railway industry.
Train carriages are currently being fitted out, supported by a £250k grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The exhibition is also set to feature a 'Wonderlab on Wheels' which will allow visitors to test their own engineering skills through hands-on exhibits.

Emma Roberts, Railway 200's programme manager, said: "This special exhibition train is set to become a new, national visitor attraction, providing an unforgettable experience for hundreds of thousands of people across Britain, including many schoolchildren.
"It will excite, enlighten, entertain, and inspire them to take a fresh look at the railway, as part of its anniversary celebrations."
The interactive exhibition is expected to attract more than 200,000 visitors, including schoolchildren, by prior booking.
Alan Ross, engineering and asset management director at Network Rail Scotland, added: "The railway has been a vital lifeline for two centuries, connecting places and people to deliver critical services and boost economic growth.
"It's also a symbol of transport innovation, continually evolving to meet the needs of modern life.
"The exhibition train honours this incredible achievement while looking forward to the exciting journey ahead.
"I encourage everyone to visit the train at your nearest stop this October to celebrate its rich history, recognise its connections to your own community, and get an exclusive glimpse of the future of rail travel."
Booked visits start at 10am, with the last entry at 4pm.
The train will close at 5pm, and visits are expected to last up to an hour.

For those unable to visit in person, a virtual tour of the exhibition experience is planned.
No passengers will be carried on the train as it travels to its exhibition sites.

Kirsty Coventry vows to stay humble as the first female president of the IOC

Kirsty Coventry has promised to not let power go to her head when she becomes the first female president of the International Olympic Committee next week. Her predecessor, Thomas Bach, would always stay in a suite paid for by the IOC at the five-star Lausanne Palace hotel, costing about £2,000 a night, whenever he was in the city. However, the Zimbabwean confirmed her family would not be following suit. 'We won't be staying in the Palace,' she said. 'I really want my kids to grow up doing the same thing that I did, making beds and doing our chores and being kids.' Coventry, who won seven Olympic medals during her swimming career, said the significance of being the first female IOC president had hit her only when she started reading the messages of support from other women. Asked for more details, Coventry said: 'I think I will start crying, so might have to do that another time. But the sentiments were really just around: 'Thank you;' 'You're such an inspiration;' 'This is so incredible.' 'I had a co-worker of mine come up to me. His mom had called him and said: 'Never in my lifetime did I ever think I'd get to see a woman leading the movement that you're working for,' and that was really special. There's been a lot of moments like that. Those are things I will hold on to in the future, when the road gets bumpy.' Coventry also made it clear she wanted IOC members to feel free to speak their minds and had invited them to stay two extra nights in Lausanne next week to have a 'pause and reflect workshop' to hear their ideas. 'The way I like to lead is with collaboration,' she said. 'I like people to say: 'Yes, I had a say and this was the direction that we went.' That way you get a really authentic buy-in.' The 41-year-old made it clear she campaigned for the IOC job to change people's lives for the better and not for the prestige involved. 'After I was elected my husband started giggling at the breakfast table and he looked at me and he goes: 'Do you realise you're the most powerful person in sport?'' she said. 'And I was like: 'What are you talking about?' For me, it's not about the title. It wasn't about power. Sometimes those things get in the way and they make you focus on maybe the wrong things. It's just not who I am. It said that the 65 bus, which travels between Glasgow City Centre and Halfway in Cambuslang, was no longer sustainable. Passengers are advised to use the alternative services available. Chris Coleman, Head of Network at First Bus Scotland, said: 'Removing a route from service is never an easy decision, nor is it one we take lightly. 'Sadly, service 65 is no longer viable due to low passenger demand on the route. For passengers who currently use service 65, there are a number of alternative services available for them to use to get to their end destination. 'Details of these can be found on our website.' Instead, First Bus is reinvesting the funds into increasing the frequency of other services and improving timetables across Greater Glasgow. The company has invested more than £3m in bus, driver and timetable resources since April. This should improve the reliability of services. More than 30 per cent of their routes are said to be experiencing improved reliability already.
