Circle's CEO is thrilled over SEC oversight

In today's CEO Daily: Diane Brady on Circle's IPO pop.
The big story: Elon Musk and Donald Trump are fighting.
The markets: Up in U.S. before jobs report.
Analyst notes from UBS, BofA, and Goldman Sachs.
Plus: All the news and watercooler chat from Fortune.
Good morning. Yesterday was a very good day for Jeremy Allaire, as shares in his crypto firm Circle (CRCL) began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, closing at 168% above its $31 IPO price (the company upsized the IPO the night before its debut). 'As we went through our IPO Road Show and ultimately priced the deal, we saw an incredible amount of interest and enthusiasm from an incredibly broad and deep array of investors,' Allaire told me in a phone conversation on Thursday.
It's been a long journey for Allaire, who tried to take the stablecoin issuer public through a SPAC merger in 2021 but didn't get approval from the SEC, which had then questioned how to classify its USD Coin, a form of cryptocurrency backed by the U.S. dollar, and the company itself.
Fast forward and it's a new day. The GENIUS Act just passed the Senate with bipartisan support and looks likely to become law, providing a federal framework for regulating stablecoins. (The House introduced its own stablecoin bill.) Said Allaire: 'No matter what your political affiliation is, sound regulation makes sense, especially when a technology like this is on the cusp of such widespread adoption.'
For Allaire, though, nothing matches the thrill of being under the watch of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. 'As a financial platform and financial infrastructure company that people are going to build on, where we're actually issuing a new kind of money, being public really matters,' he said. 'Becoming an SEC-regulated and supervised company just strengthens those attributes at a time where stable coin is becoming a global mainstream phenomenon.'
At the end of a long day, Allaire told me he's grateful to his family, his team, developers that build applications on this technology, and the broad and deep array of investors that helped give Circle a successful debut. But, he says, he doesn't want to get too caught up in the stock price. 'What's important is that we're building a great company. We've got investors that want to be with us. We've got a lot to do.'

BofA Raises PT on Adobe (ADBE) Stock, Maintains Buy

Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) is one of the 10 software stocks analysts are upgrading. On June 13, BofA analyst Brad Sills upped the company's price objective to $475 from $424, while maintaining a 'Buy' rating, as reported by The Fly. As per the firm, Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE)'s Q2 2025 results and outlook exhibit strong execution amidst a sluggish software demand backdrop, while its AI optionality remains intact. The firm's analyst hinted at a more resilient and diversified business, as well as healthy execution on growth initiatives. A team of engineers and scientists collaborating at a workstation surrounded by their applications and solutions. For FY 2025, the company targets total Adobe revenue of between $23.50 billion – $23.60 billion, and digital media segment revenue of between $17.45 billion – $17.50 billion. In Q2 2025, Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE)'s digital media segment revenue came in at $4.35 billion, representing 11% YoY growth, or 12% in constant currency. Digital Media ARR, while exiting the quarter, came in at $18.09 billion, reflecting 12.1% growth YoY. While Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE)'s AI-influenced ARR continues to contribute, the company's AI book of business from AI-first products like Acrobat AI Assistant, Firefly App and Services, and GenStudio for Performance Marketing has been tracking ahead of the $250 million ending ARR target by FY 2025 end. Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE) is engaged in developing and selling creative, document, design, and marketing software. Aristotle Capital Management, LLC, an investment management company, released its Q1 2025 investor letter. Here is what the fund said: 'Adobe Inc. (NASDAQ:ADBE), the leading provider of content creation and publishing software, was a notable detractor during the quarter. This came despite the company reporting record revenue of over $5.7 billion in the first quarter—a 10% year-over-year increase, with double-digit increases across both its Digital Media and Digital Experience segments. The disconnect between strong fundamentals and share price weakness reflects ongoing market concerns around intensifying competitive threats from generative AI and lower-cost design platforms. Market sentiment has remained cautious around the perceived disruption risk posed by new AI-driven entrants, including OpenAI's Sora for video generation and platforms like Canva, which cater to the broader prosumer and small and medium-sized business segment. However, we continue to view these as largely non-overlapping with Adobe's core base of creative professionals, enterprises and agencies—audiences that demand precision, control and integration within larger workflows. Canva, while expanding its feature set, remains limited in its enterprise readiness and depth. Sora, meanwhile, remains early-stage and experimental, with limited commercial application at this point. Crucially, Adobe is not standing still. The company is actively embedding generative AI across its ecosystem through Firefly, which is commercially safe (i.e., free of copyrighted sources to train its models) and integrated natively into Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop and Illustrator. Firefly has shown strong early traction, generating $125 million in annualized recurring revenue, with management expecting that figure to double by year end. While modest in size relative to Adobe's total revenue, Firefly's monetization strategy is still in its early innings, with further potential through upselling, usage-based pricing and expanded use cases. Beyond monetization, AI integration enhances Adobe's long-term competitive moat through product functionality, stronger customer engagement and increased switching costs. Adobe's unique access to proprietary data, content workflows and creative content allows it to fine-tune models that serve the high-end needs of professionals—capabilities that generic AI models lack. Strategic partnerships with Microsoft (e.g., Firefly in Microsoft 365 Copilot) and ongoing momentum in Adobe Express further extend its reach into new user segments. Ultimately, we believe Adobe has a durable competitive advantage, underpinned by a large installed base, subscription-led business model, strong brand equity and a long track record of innovation. While short-term concerns over AI disruption have weighed on the stock price, we believe Adobe is well-positioned to harness AI as a driver of value rather than being displaced by it.' While we acknowledge the potential of ADBE to grow, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. If you are looking for an AI stock that is more promising than ADBE and that has 100x upside potential, check out our report about this cheapest AI stock. UBS Sticks With Buy Rating on Kinder Morgan (KMI)

Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE:KMI) is one of the 10 Best Oil and Gas Stocks to Buy Now. On June 11, UBS maintained its 'Buy' rating on Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE:KMI) with a price target of $38. The research firm highlighted that the company will see a full quarter contribution from its Outrigger acquisition. UBS slightly raised its estimate for Kinder Morgan, Inc.'s (NYSE:KMI) EBITDA for the second quarter of 2025. The firm's new estimate is $1.932 billion, up from the previous $1.929 billion. This forecast is about 0.6% higher than the company's own guidance of $1.92 billion. UBS pointed out that Kinder Morgan, Inc.'s (NYSE:KMI) guidance does not include any contribution from the Outrigger acquisition. Aerial view of an oil and gas pipeline, spanning vast landscapes. The new estimate takes into account the full-quarter impact of the acquisition, higher operating costs in the first quarter for natural gas pipelines due to timing issues, and benefits from higher natural gas prices. The analysts believe that the first quarter did not show the full impact of the Outrigger acquisition. This was because transaction costs offset 1.5 months of contribution from Outrigger. UBS analysts noted that the second quarter will be 'the first clean quarter' for evaluating the impact of the acquisition. Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE:KMI) is one of North America's largest energy infrastructure companies. It owns and operates pipelines and terminals. The company's pipelines transport natural gas, gasoline, and crude oil. Why Shares in Rare Earth Company MP Materials Surged Again This Week

Despite near-term challenges, the market is feeling optimistic about MP Materials' long-term growth prospects. It's a speculative stock, as a relatively small number of people will make the key decisions guiding its future. 10 stocks we like better than MP Materials › Very few companies demonstrate the complexity of the current trade conflict and the strategic necessity of securing rare earth materials for the U.S. more effectively than MP Materials (NYSE: MP), and its share price action this week, up 21.8% at the time of writing, underscores this point. Management describes the company as being "America's rare earth magnetics champion," as it is "America's only fully integrated rare earth producer." However, as fellow writer Rich Smith notes, Shenghe Resources (a majority-owned subsidiary of China's Shenghe Resources Holding Company) was a major customer of MP Materials, and the company that MP Materials "sells the vast majority of its rare earth concentrate" to, according to its SEC filings. Moreover, in mid-April, MP Materials said it had "ceased shipments of rare earth concentrate to China" due to China's tariffs and the issue of selling critical materials not being "aligned with America's national interest." As such, the trade conflict is a near-term negative for MP Materials. That said, and as management consistently argues, the company's real growth opportunity lies in being part of the U.S. developing its own rare earth supply chain. It's a point reiterated by CEO James Litinsky on a recent earnings call: "What is now abundantly clear is that the United States must urgently accelerate its full-scale domestic rare earth magnetic supply chain." As such, when speculation rises that the administration is working to secure funding for the company, the stock is likely to perform well, as it did this week. It's an interesting situation, but with so much uncertainty surrounding the company's direction, it's challenging to argue that retail investors have any kind of advantage in investing in the stock.
