'Much-loved' mum-of-three, 32, dies in A98 crash near Buckie
A 32-year-old woman who died in a crash on the A98 was a 'much-loved' mum-of-three.
Amanda Lawson, from Mosstodloch, was involved in the collision near Buckie on Tuesday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family has now shared a tribute through the police, saying she will be 'sorely missed'.
They said: 'Amanda was a much-loved partner and mother to three young boys.
'She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
'We would ask that our privacy is respected at this time and we and her young family are allowed to grieve.'
The crash involved a white Vauxhall Insignia and a blue Peugeot 2008 and took place at about 12.30pm on Tuesday.
It also claimed the life of 77-year-old Janet Cowie, who was a passenger in the Peugeot.
Several people from the community have paid tribute in recent days, describing her as a 'gem' of a woman with a 'heart of gold'.
Her husband, Gordon Cowie, was taken by air ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
The former Moray councillor, also 77, remains in hospital undergoing treatment.
Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
Sergeant Dave Cooper, of the Roads Policing Unit in Elgin, said: 'Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both women who died.
'Inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and we ask anyone who can assist who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.
'If you can help please contact us on 101, quoting incident number 1354 of Tuesday, June 10.'

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in Argyll and were called to the incident involving a Skoda Rapid and a Peugeot 308 on the A82 near Loch Ba at about 10:50 on Friday.A 38-year-old man, who was driving the Skoda, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he remains in a serious condition. Driver airlifted to hospital after two-car crash on A82
A driver has been airlifted to hospital after a two-car crash on the A82 in the Highlands. Police attended the scene of the crash around 10.50am on Friday involving a Skoda Rapid and a Peugeot 308 near Loch Ba. The 38-year-old male driver of the Skoda was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he remains in a serious condition. The 50-year-old male driver and 50-year-old male passenger of the Peugeot were not injured. The road was closed to allow for investigations and re-opened around 1.40pm. Constable Malcolm Cameron said: 'I would ask anyone who was travelling on the A82 near to Loch Ba around 10.50am on Friday, June 20 and saw the crash to contact us. 'Likewise, if you saw either car before the crash and have information which may assist our investigation, please get in touch. 'I'd also ask drivers who were in the area around that time with dash-cam footage to review this and get in touch.' Detectives close major Edinburgh road to reconstruct alleged hit and run
Police will close a busy stretch of Queensferry Road overnight this week as part of an investigation into the alleged hit-and-run that killed Ian Harrower. A major Edinburgh road will shut as police carry out a crash reconstruction linked to a fatal incident that claimed the life of a much-loved grandfather. Queensferry Road will be closed in both directions between Drumbrae North and Clermiston Road North from 10pm on Thursday, June 19, until 1am on Friday, June 20. The temporary closure is to allow officers to carry out a collision reconstruction as part of ongoing enquiries into the crash, which took place on the A90 on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Emergency services were called to the late-night incident, involving a Kawasaki motorbike and a Peugeot 306, at around 11.15pm. Police appealed for help to trace the Peugeot involved and a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences two days after the incident. His devastated family later paid tribute to the grandfather, describing him as a 'true and loyal friend to many' who would 'never be forgotten.' In a statement released by Police Scotland, they said: "Ian was a much-loved son to Elizabeth, brother to Elaine and dad to Lewis, Kim and Owen. He was a loving husband to Norah and stepdad to Gavin, and a very much missed grandad to Brooke and Taylor." Images from the scene in April showed a heavy emergency presence, with officers and paramedics at the site and a large cordon in place. Local Megan Purdie, 20, said at the time: "I saw the ambulance and the cars, and it's quite disturbing to know that happened right outside. I've never really liked living near the main road, but there's only so much you can do. "It's terrible, I didn't actually know someone had died. I have seen quite a lot of ambulances going past the house recently, it's quite worrying to live here." Sergeant Paul Ewing added: 'We would like to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation and our thoughts remain with the family of Mr Harrower. Anyone with any further information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 4274 of 8 April, 2025.' Motorists are advised to avoid the area during the overnight closure, with diversions set to be in place. Police Scotland added: 'We thank the public for their patience and understanding."
