Halara plots UK expansion and pop-up experience

Fashion United18 hours ago

Halara has its eyes on the UK. The Singapore-headquartered athleisure brand has revealed plans to expand to the region through a pop-up experience set to be hosted later this year.
The physical retail space, which will open alongside the launch of an app and online platform, will incorporate the brand's 'digital-first, community-driven model', a press release said.
Halara's intention is to 'deliver a more responsive, inclusive athleisure experience for UK consumers'.
Founded in 2020 by Hong Kong-based entrepreneur Joyce Zhang, Halara has built up a global audience largely thanks to its presence on the social media platform, TikTok.
Here, its content revolves around relatable videos and creator partnerships, the latter an integral part of the brand's existence, as influencers represent a large part of the brand's wider marketing framework.
On the back of what it said has been a 'rapid rise', the brand is now looking to venture into new realms. Its plans to enter the UK market follows a similar announcement from earlier in the year when it revealed Australia as one of the regions it was targeting.
In the US, meanwhile, where it already boasts a strong foothold, the brand has already explored the physical retail space via pop-ups, the first being in New York City in 2024 and, more recently, two in California.

‘Finally' big busted girls praise Primark's new saucy matching £8 underwear sets and they now go up to size 44H

FINDING the perfect bra is tough enough as it is, but anyone with a big bust knows what a challenge it really is. Not only that, but as your cup size goes up the options usually get more boring and beige. 3 3 That's why Primark has extended it's size range so even more can feel confident in their saucy lingerie. Posting on TikTok, the high street shop revealed their range now goes up to a size 44H - and not just for boring T-shirt bras. Shoppers can get their hands on stunning lace sets, including a pink, non-padded matching set, complete with floral details. The best part? Prices start from just £8. In the viral clip Primark also showed off another stunning set which had been specially designed for bigger busts. The sleek and sexy design incorporates wide straps, foam-moulded cups and wider supportive bands - what's not to love? After showing off the new stock fashion fans were keen to get their hands on the stunning bras before they sold out. One said: "About time! I'm a G and felt left out." "Can we do the same for bikinis please," a second commented. And a third chimed in: "Bought a few now and they're lush." Shoppers race to Primark for 'dressy top' that's perfect for a pair of jeans - it's sexy & flattering & in two colours Meanwhile, other busty women shared a few other suggestions, including smaller back sized for bigger cups. "I want smaller bands, bigger cups," one wrote. "Trouble is no one with larger boobs needs extra padding, I don't understand the logic on this," another pointed out. And others begged Primark to offer a wider range of underwear as part of their matching sets too. One said: "Can you please do something other than thongs, maybe a Brazilian or a brief to go with these?" The bras aren't only option Primark has released recently that people have been rushing to get their hands on. Earlier this month the high street chain has just released a cropped bandeau ribbed top for £8. While the price alone will be enough to tempt many people, it's the extra feature which is also proving to be popular with fashion fans. That's because the summer top has a built-in bra for a more seamless look. The retailer promised this bonus feature offers an "effortless and supportive fit". Describing it online, the Primark team said: "Keep it simple and supportive with this bandeau top with a built-in bra. "Made from a soft cotton blend fabric, it hugs your shape with a close-fitting, bodycon style. "The strapless design and built-in bra give you support without the fuss of extra layers." Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget By Clemmie Feildsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor AS someone who's no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it's about time that celebrities started catching on too. For as long as I've been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those 'I have nothing to wear' moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect. And I'm definitely not alone - on any Friday or Saturday night, you'll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time. But no matter what, Primark always delivers. Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores. While Rita's not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she's proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less. Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham - if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards. With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I'm sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.

I'm a Vinted pro and here's the prime selling time to ensure you make cash quick – plus the items you should be listing

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A VINTED seller has shared her number one tip for quickly and efficiently selling pre-loved clothes. The UK-based mother and Vinted enthusiast Rachael, has made cash with barely any effort involved by flogging second-hand clothing on the online marketplace app. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 A Vinted seller has shared the best time of the month to add items onto the marketplace app Credit: Tiktok/@rachshops 3 Not only this, but Rachael also got candid on the types of clothes you should be listing if you want to make cash quick Credit: Tiktok/@rachshops 3 So if you've got a loft full of old stuff you want to flog, you'll need to take notes Credit: Alamy If her daughter's clothes no longer fit, she logs onto the app and makes a profit from them, instead of leaving good quality items hanging in a wardrobe. But now, Rachael has revealed the key to selling fast on the marketplace app - and it's all in the timing. According to Rachael, there's a 'prime selling time' that will ensure you get rid of unwanted items and make cash fast. Not only this, but the brunette also shared which items you should actually be listing. So if you're eager to make money fast and have a wardrobe full of clothes you never wear, you've come to the right place and will need to take notes. Posting on social media, Rachael explained that listing items towards the end of the month when most people are getting paid could mean they get snapped up quickly. Rachael shared her "most popular" Vinted selling tip, which she claimed is 'part of a strategy.' Holding up a tub of spring and summer clothes, Rachael said she planned to list them all on Vinted that evening, as she acknowledged: 'The bigger picture of me doing this tonight is because it's the 27th, it's near the end of the month and most people are getting paid. 'Believe me, this is prime selling time, so I always make sure I list around these days at the end of each month.' Rachael acknowledged that as most people get paid around that time, they have the cash to spend, as she added: 'And they will be spending it on Vinted as well.' I made £185 in less than 24 hours on Vinted thanks to a pricing trick that hooks sellers without having to send offers The avid seller also offered some other timing tricks that she swears by for best results on the app. Rachael stressed the importance of uploading clothes that are seasonal in order to maximise sales, as she continued: 'Always think about that when you're listing stuff - make sure it's relative to the time of year and what people are actually looking to buy.' This is prime selling time, so I always make sure I list around these days at the end of each month Rachael Rachael also explained that having suitable mailing bags on hand saves both time and money, whilst preventing you from rushing around at the last minute. She advised: 'The thing I would highly recommend you do if you are a Vinted seller is have mailing bags ready before you list anything so you're organised and prepared.' The Vinted enthusiast claims that having mailing bags to hand 'saves stress' of knowing what to package items in. Meanwhile, Rachael urged sellers to post their items quickly, for the simple reason that you'll 'get your money' faster as a result. New Vinted rules to be aware of IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you'll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play. If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax. However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown. You're unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year - generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax. A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit - the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale. However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700. It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe. While your data won't be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you'll still need to pay tax as normal. Not only this, but she claimed that this will also help towards 'positive feedback and good reviews' too. The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @rachshops, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly racked up 54,000 likes and 1,408 likes. Meanwhile, one person took to the comments to share their Vinted advice, as they wrote: 'Upload at school pick up time. Mums scrolling in their car.' To this, Rachael responded and penned: 'That's a good idea, thanks for sharing.' Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club

AI spending vows should be good for business

The government knows AI can have a positive effect on public services and the economy, says Mark Ferguson Mark Ferguson looks at the impact of Chancellor Rachel Reeves' recent handouts on innovative tech companies Sign up to our Scotsman Money newsletter, covering all you need to know to help manage your money. The importance being placed on AI and other technologies as drivers of UK economic growth is evident from funding commitments outlined in the Government's annual Spending Review. The pledges made by Chancellor Rachel Reeves will have implications for organisations that both develop and deploy AI solutions, for how UK-based technology companies and universities might innovate, and for the way public sector bodies will operate in future. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The review envisages more than £2 billion of public funds being used to implement the AI opportunities action plan that the government endorsed earlier this year. This, it said, will mean 'a twentyfold expansion' of the capacity of the UK's AI Research Resource, which was established under the previous government to provide so-called 'super-computer' support for AI research. The housing area for Edinburgh University's planned Exascale supercomputer Up to £500 million will also be used on the creation of a new UK Sovereign AI Unit to help 'support the emergence of national AI champions' in tandem with the British Business Bank, which itself is to get almost £3 billion in increased funding 'to support companies to start, scale and grow in the UK'. Another major technology-related funding commitment set out in the spending review is the up to £750 million pledged for a new supercomputer at Edinburgh University - described by the government as an asset that 'will give scientists in all UK universities access to computational power that can be found in only a handful of other nations'. In her announcement, Reeves further pledged £240 million for the AI Security Institute and at least £1 billion to support the scaling up of the Advanced Research and Invention Agency - which provides R&D funding for technological and scientific breakthroughs - as part of a wider £22 billion R&D funding commitment. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Another £1.9 billion was pledged for digital infrastructure, to ensure wider access to and speedier broadband connectivity, as part of wider infrastructure investment commitments. Further funding has also been pledged to support the use of AI in government as part of a broad efficiency drive. The UK's ability to produce its own AI infrastructure, data, and skilled workforce is important for the public sector for enabling focused research on the UK's most critical priorities like healthcare and defence, and for supporting academics and start-ups with affordable resources to train AI models. It should also allow access to AI compute at times of disruption. The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology is arguably the biggest winner among government departments from the chancellor's spending review, with an average annual growth of 7.4% in day-to-day spending over the next five years, which outstrips every other departmental rise comfortably. The government has spoken favourably since Day One about the positive impact that AI can have on public services and the economy, and based on the Spending Review pledges, it is putting its money where its mouth is. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Many of the details announced make good on the commitments made as part of the government's response to the AI opportunities action plan in January, when it committed to accepting all 50 recommendations in the plan. For businesses attention will now turn to the publication of the government's industrial strategy, which is expected to be published shortly, for further details on how digital and technologies can contribute as one of the eight growth-driving sectors.
