‘Planting Is The Medicine': Rishto Se Bandhi Gauri Cast Calls For Climate Action

Savi Thakur, who plays Rudra in Rishto Se Bandhi Gauri, urged his fans to build a relationship with nature, just as they do with their favourite actors.
We've often heard stories from the actors of Rishto Se Bandhi Gauri about the fun they have on set. Earlier in May, Melanie Nazareth, who plays Usha in the daily soap, spoke about the bond shared among co-actors, their everyday laughter, a crazy WhatsApp group, and all the little things that make their work environment so lively.
But beyond the off-screen camaraderie, the team took a thoughtful step on World Environment Day. On June 5, they came together to plant trees and encouraged others to do the same.
Speaking to IANS, Savi Thakur, who portrays Rudra in the show, shared, 'I had such a great time planting trees today. Honestly, I've grown up watching and doing this at home since childhood. But ever since I moved to Mumbai, I haven't had many chances here; we usually just manage with a few potted plants. So today felt special."
He urged his fans to build a relationship with nature, just as they do with their favourite actors. Savi said, 'To all my fans, I want to say this, just like you connect with everything we artists do, I hope you also connect with this small but meaningful act. Nature gives us so much, but we rarely give anything back. If you think about it, we're always just taking. Planting even one tree is like giving a small gift back to nature."
Esha Pathak, the lead actress who plays Gauri, expressed her connection to greenery. She said, 'My home is like a mini garden. I've filled it with plants because I love planting. There's a special connection I feel with greenery, so being part of today's tree plantation initiated by Sun Neo made me happy. I've even kept a few plants in my makeup room to stay close to nature every day. As celebrities, we're doing this not just for the camera, but to set an example, to start a movement."
Reflecting on the climate crisis, she added, 'Planting trees is not just a good deed, it's a need now. The way global warming is rising and seasons are changing, it's clear we've hurt Mother Nature deeply. And now, it's time to heal those wounds. And the only medicine is planting. The more trees we plant, the better and cleaner our environment will be. We'll get fresh air, more oxygen, and a healthier planet. So, I request all of you to take a small step. Even if one person plants just one tree, it can make a huge difference."
This thoughtful initiative by the Rishto Se Bandhi Gauri team is a reminder that no matter how packed our schedules are with shoots, corporate deadlines, or even fun, we can still find a moment to care for nature. The climate crisis we're facing is real, and sometimes, saving just one life begins with planting just one tree.

Mohanlal's Ad-Hoc Committee At AMMA May Be Retained Amid Hema Committee Report

Last Updated: The fate of ad-hoc committee led by Mohanlal at AMMA will be decided at the AGM on Sunday. The committee was formed after the Hema Committee report on poor conditions for women. Ad-hoc committee under Mohanlal likely to continue at AMMA Kochi, June 21 (IANS) The fate of the ad-hoc committee led by superstar Mohanlal at the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) will be decided today during the association's annual general body meeting (AGM) here. The ad-hoc panel was constituted last year after the Malayalam film industry was rocked by controversies following the release of the Hema Committee report, which exposed the appalling conditions faced by women in the industry. The situation worsened when several women artistes — mostly those in minor roles — came forward with allegations of sexual exploitation by prominent actors. Amid mounting media attention and public outrage, popular actor Siddique, who had recently taken over as general secretary, resigned after being accused by a woman artiste. As more names surfaced, Mohanlal and the entire elected committee stepped down under pressure. Subsequently, to manage the affairs of the over 500-member strong AMMA, the same committee was reconstituted as an ad-hoc body with Mohanlal at the helm. However, actor Unni Mukundan, the treasurer, later expressed his intention to resign from the interim setup. Speaking to IANS on condition of anonymity, a leading actor said the AGM will deliberate on the way forward, especially after taking legal advice. 'Legal experts have already been consulted. At Sunday's meeting, these aspects will be presented, and a final decision will be taken accordingly," the actor said. 'If the ad-hoc committee is retained, replacements will be needed for Siddique and Mukundan. The current joint secretary, Baburaj, could be promoted to general secretary — something that has precedence in other associations. However, the final call rests with the AGM," the actor added. With AMMA's AGM generally witnessing strong participation, Sunday's meeting is expected to be a packed and potentially decisive affair. First Published: June 22, 2025, 08:50 IST

It is like meditation; it is a great stress reliever and promotes positive inflow, which I really enjoy. That's the main reason I do Iyengar yoga; the physical benefits are secondary" and continues, 'Today there is one form of yoga which I call the fashion yoga. They play loud music and do yoga. That is not the real practice. The real practice is going within yourself. One shouldn't do yoga with loud music and mirrors around as it distracts the senses. For me, Iyengar yoga works the best." Her house, which also consists of a swimming pool and sprawling frontyard, are often featured on her Instagram posts.
