Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown pleaded not guilty Friday to a charge that he beat and seriously injured a music producer with a bottle in a London nightclub in 2023.
Brown, 36, pleaded not guilty to one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent in Southwark Crown Court.

Brown's friend and fellow musician Omololu Akinlolu, 38, who performs under the name 'Hoody Baby,' pleaded not guilty to the same charge.
Prosecutors said Brown and Akinlolu assaulted producer Abe Diaw at a bar in the Tape nightclub in the swanky Mayfair neighborhood in February 2023.
Brown allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on Diaw and hit him several times with a bottle and then punched and kicked him.

It was 1865, on 19th of June," says Sarah Farajaoui who was behind the fan-led project. "This is a way to celebrate freedom. This is a way to celebrate justice and to say, 'Beyoncé we understood the assignment and we're here to celebrate with this day.'" For the project, she and other friends distributed thousands of Juneteenth flags for fans to hold up as Beyoncé performed her song "Freedom." "The atmosphere was fantastic," says Jazmine Goodwine, who flew to Paris from the U.S. for the occasion. "To be here on freedom day was out of this world. To see people pay homage to her roots on Juneteenth was something spectacular, and it fulfilled me in ways I didn't know was possible." One of the biggest highlights of the evening came when Beyoncé brought out Miley Cryus and the two women sang their beloved duet "II Most Wanted." Dressed in all gold, the Grammy-winning singers held hands and the crowd went wild as Cryus approached the stage. 'I love y'all so much. Chris Brown enters not guilty plea over alleged bottle attack at London club
The American singer and actor Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub. Brown, 36, is accused of attempting to unlawfully and maliciously cause Abraham Diaw grievous bodily harm with intent at the Tape club in Hanover Square, Mayfair. At a plea and trial preparation hearing at Southwark crown court on Friday morning, his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a US national, denied the same charge. Both defendants are further charged with assaulting Diaw, occasioning him actual bodily harm in the incident, on 19 February 2023, and Brown also faces one count of having an offensive weapon – a bottle – in a public place. They were not asked to enter pleas to those charges, and a further court date was set for 11 July. A five- to seven-day trial was scheduled to start from 26 October 2026. Brown arrived at court at 9am to a large group of photographers outside and walked in silence to the building's entrance. About 20 people sat in the public gallery behind the dock, many of them fans of the singer. The Grammy-winning singer was arrested after flying into the UK for the Breezy Bowl XX tour. He was detained by police at about 2am on 15 May at the five-star Lowry hotel in Salford, Greater Manchester. Brown was able to continue with his scheduled international tour after he was freed on conditional bail having agreed to pay a £5m security fee to the court. He performed in Cardiff on Thursday night and is due to play two nights in London this weekend before heading to Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, followed by dates in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.

Tunisian court hands 15‑year sentence to opposition figure Sahbi Atig
TUNIS (Reuters) -A Tunisian court has sentenced Sahbi Atig, a senior official in Ennahda, the country's main opposition party, to 15 years in prison on charges of money laundering, his lawyer said on Friday, the latest move against opposition figures under President Kais Saied. Atig was detained in 2023, one of many opponents of Saied who have been imprisoned since the president began expanding his powers in 2021, dissolving parliament and ruling by decree in what critics have denounced as a coup. Saied has said that all his steps are legal and aimed at ending years of rampant corruption and holding accountable what he calls a corrupt elite. Atig denied the charges against him, saying they were fabricated. "The verdict aims to eliminate political opponents and lacks any credible evidence,' Atig's lawyer, Mokthar Jmaayi, told Reuters. "It is a continuation of the punishment of opponents by using the judiciary and distracting people from their real problems,' he added. The 15-year sentence was shorter than some sentences handed down recently. In April, a court sentenced a string of opposition leaders, businessmen and lawyers to prison terms of up to 66 years, on charges of conspiring. Saied has dissolved the Supreme Judicial Council and dismissed dozens of judges in 2022, raising concerns about judicial independence. The president has said he does not interfere in the judiciary and that his actions aim to purge the judiciary of corrupt judges. Most of the leaders of political parties in Tunisia are in prison, including Abir Moussi, leader of the Free Constitutional Party, and Rached Ghannouchi, the head of Ennahda - two of Saied's most prominent opponents.
