Counterfeit cholesterol drugs worth ₹3 lakh seized in raids at Koti

Officials from the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) carried out raids on multiple pharmaceutical dealers in Koti, Hyderabad and uncovered counterfeit stocks of the cholesterol-lowering medications Rosuvas F 20 and Rosuvas F 10.
These drugs are prescribed to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels and prevent heart-related ailments. The spurious drugs were being circulated in the open market under the guise of legitimate products manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited.
During the inspections on Thursday, DCA's special enforcement team raided two outlets, Ganga Pharma Distributors and Sri Nandini Pharma, and seized fake batches of the medicine, both falsely labelled as being manufactured in December 2024 and set to expire in May 2027. The counterfeit packaging claimed Sun Pharma's Sikkim unit as the manufacturing site, said a release. The estimated value of the seized counterfeit medicines is ₹3 lakh.
Upon verification, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited confirmed to the authorities that the seized stocks were not genuine and had not been produced by their company. Officials stated that a detailed investigation is underway to trace the entire supply chain of the counterfeit products and that legal action will be initiated against all those found responsible.

Unlicensed medical shop raided in Hyderabad; drugs worth Rs 25,000 seized

Hyderabad, June 11 (UNI) Officials of the Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, raided an unlicensed medical shop operating at Zamistanpur, Musheerabad, Hyderabad, and seized a large quantity of medicines stocked illegally for sale. Acting on credible information, DCA officials conducted a raid on Tuesday at New Al-Shifa Medical and General Stores, located near Bandham Function Hall. The shop, operated by Mohd Saddam Hussain, was found to be functioning without a valid drug license, in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. During the raid, officers found unauthorised stocks of 35 different types of medicines, including antibiotics, abortion kits, and habit-forming drugs such as Alprazolam and Tramadol tablets, along with IV fluids. The seized stock was valued at approximately Rs 25,000. The raid was carried out by a team comprising D Saritha, Assistant Director (Secunderabad), along with Drugs Inspectors P Renuka (Musheerabad), B Govind Singh (Secunderabad), G Anil (Malakpet), and M. Surendranath (Begumpet). Samples of the seized medicines were taken for analysis, and further investigation is underway. DCA officials have cautioned that wholesalers and dealers who supply medicines to unlicensed outlets will also face strict action. Illegally stocked drugs worth Rs 5.21 lakh seized

HYDERABAD: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) raided the residence of a habitual offender in Moosarambagh, Malakpet, and seized spurious drugs worth Rs 5.21 lakh. The accused, Puvvada Lakshmana, is a repeat offender previously involved in multiple spurious drug cases across the state. He had illegally stocked a large quantity of drugs at his home. During the raid, four varieties of suspected spurious medicines were seized, including antidiabetics, antihypertensives, and abortion kits. Acting on a tip-off, DCA officials raided the premises on Wednesday and recovered drugs such as Tazloc-CT 6.25 (Telmisartan and Chlorthalidone tablets), Dapacose-10 (Dapagliflozin tablets 10 mg), Dapacose-5 (Dapagliflozin tablets 5 mg), and Clear-Kit (combipack of Mifepristone and Misoprostol tablets). Samples have been sent for analysis. Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway, and legal action will be taken against all those involved.
