Gold FM radio legends Jonesy and Amanda 'jumping ship' to another Sydney station as their potential replacement is revealed

Daily Mail4 hours ago

Speculation is mounting that Gold FM stalwarts Amanda Keller and Brendan Jones could be readying to jump ship to a rival network.
The pair, who have been hosting breakfast at the Sydney station 101.7 (formerly WSFM) for 20 years, have been rumoured to be eyeing off a spot at Triple M.
According to recent reports, management at Gold are contemplating shifting the pair's popular Jonesy and Amanda show to the drive-time slot.
Taking their current spot would be Melbourne based Gold star Christian O'Connell.
Since this would mean a salary cut for Jonesy and Amanda, reported The Australian's Media Diary on Monday, insiders say that the pair are 'in talks' with Triple M.

Keller, 63, and Jones, 57, could be a catch for Triple M, after their Sydney breakfast team suffered a brutal blow in the third radio ratings survey of 2025.
The Triple M trio of Beau Ryan, Aaron 'Woodsy' Woods and Cat Lynch's lost 1.5 per cent of the market share in survey two, and dropped another 1.5 in the latest survey.
This puts them with a 4.4 market share from a previous 5.9.
Meanwhile, Jonesy and Amanda finished third in the survey with a 9.3 per cent audience share, with 2GB's Ben Fordham in second place.
It comes after the wildly popular Kyle & Jackie O Show was again number one in FM breakfast in Sydney, with a market share of 12.5 (up by 0.2).
Though their performance in Melbourne has slightly dipped again and they dropped 0.7 to a 5.1 market share following the gains they made last survey.
Sydney juggernauts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson have been embroiled in the battle since their multimillion-dollar expansion into the city saw ex KIIS FM stars Jason 'Jase' Hawkins and Lauren Phillips be axed.
On April 29, 2024 Sandilands and Henderson took The Kyle & Jackie O Show to Melbourne in a huge multimillion-dollar expansion deal.
The move triggered the axing of Hawkins and Phillips own KIIS FM breakfast show.
Sandilands and Henderson have since struggled to capture the Melbourne market.
In November, Sandilands vowed to reduce the graphic sexual content on his KIIS FM radio show this year to appeal to the Melbourne audience more broadly.
Brisbane listeners, meanwhile, have only embraced the pain tentatively with their syndicated drive-time slot, 'Hour of Power' finishing this survey with an 11 per cent share of the audience.
The result puts them behind the Nova, B105 and Triple M in the same slot.

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster 'held responsible' for spoiling radio host's proposal plans

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster's wedding anniversary celebrations this weekend brought up an awkward memory for a Heart Radio presenter as he explained the famous pair spoiled his proposal plans. Sir Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster have been accused of spoiling a Heart Radio presenter's proposal plans. To mark their 18th wedding anniversary this week, the pair boarded the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to revisit their engagement, wedding and honeymoon spots. Six years into dating in 2005, the Maggie May hitmaker got down on one knee at the top of the Eiffel Tower. They tied the knot in a small town just outside of Portofino, Italy two years later. ‌ Their 2007 wedding was followed by a honeymoon off the coast, which included celebrations on a yacht. Discussing the couple's anniversary on Heart Radio's Breakfast Show on Friday, Jamie Theakston hilariously accused Rod of ruining his own proposal plan. ‌ Around the same time that the singer asked Penny for her hand in marriage, the presenter recalled being on a train to Paris with his then girlfriend Sophie, who he was about to pop the question to. Jamie explained his plan had been to propose to his now wife on the Eiffel Tower, until he discovered her true feelings about that idea, Glasgow Live reports. Speaking to his co-stars Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts, he said: "I thought the Eiffel Tower might be romantic, at the Eiffel Tower, on one knee, pop the question, job done. "It was a beautiful weekend, the sun was shining, we'd been to Paris a couple of times before, so it was a special place." ‌ Jamie recalled how "nervous" he was about getting the ring he had secretly packed through customs without Sophie seeing it, which was thankfully a success. However, his next problem came when he had to rethink his proposal plan. He explained: "Anyway, she's reading a copy of Hello! Magazine, she goes, 'OMG. Do you know Rod Stewart has just got engaged to Penny Lancaster?' I said, 'Oh, really?' ‌ "She said, 'How naff is this, they did it in Paris on the Eiffel Tower'." After Amanda and Ashley expressed their shock, he admitted he debated whether to scrap the plan completely. ‌ However, he decided to go ahead with the proposal but carried it out in a more private setting - their hotel room. He joked: "It wasn't as special as it might've been. So essentially, I hold Rod and Penny personally responsible for the complete collapse of my wedding proposal." While the engagement he had imagined didn't quite go to plan, the main thing was that Sophie gladly accepted his proposal. ‌ The pair went on to wed in Ditchling, Sussex and now have two sons together; Sidney, 17, and Kit, 16. As for Rod and Penny, the Loose Women star is the singer's third wife who he has two sons with; Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14. Sir Rod has eight kids in total across five different women. His other children are Sarah, 61, Kimberly, 45, Sean, 44, Ruby, 38, Renee, 33, Liam, 30. Before Penny, he was married to Alana Stewart from 1979 to 1984, followed by Rachel Hunter from 1990 to 2006.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach review — a stunning triumph

When Hideo Kojima releases a new video game, all eyes are on it. It's like a new Quentin Tarantino film hitting cinemas. It's history. The 61-year-old Japanese games designer made his name at Konami in the Nineties by creating the influential Metal Gear Solid franchise. A messy separation in 2015 led him to establish his own studio. The world expected another game like Metal Gear Solid; instead we got the divisive Death Stranding (2019), a post-apocalyptic walking simulator hailed as a masterpiece by some. Others, including me, thought it painfully meandering and pretentious. Now we have a sequel worthy of the masterpiece mantle (and despite that awful subtitle, On the Beach). Kojima has tweaked tons but has done so without sacrificing emotional complexity and beautiful writing. Death Stranding 2 is simply more engaging to play than its predecessor. He still doesn't want the game to appeal to everyone, though — and it won't. It's self-indulgent and filled with his famous buddies such as the Hollywood director George Miller (Mad Max). It remains bizarre and complicated but this is Kojima at his outrageous best. It's set 11 months after Death Stranding. Our hero, Sam (The Walking Dead 's Norman Reedus), has lost his job as a porter. He hides away with his adopted daughter, Lou, cleaning up her toys and wandering the mountains of Mexico. He's reunited with his pal Fragile (Léa Seydoux) but things go awry. Haunted by visions and grief, Sam goes to Australia via a strange portal. Like the rest of the world, the country is now a desert. Society is fragmented. People mostly appear as holograms. Spectral ghouls called Beached Things lurk in the rocks. Sam is tasked with connecting everyone to the Chiral network — this game's internet — by delivering goods to their camps. With connectivity comes knowledge and so the villains know where people are now. That means conflict and a new emphasis on action, something the first game sorely missed. Aside from traipsing across harsh terrain (which requires careful planning), Sam is armed with shotguns and grenades to wipe out bandit camps. There are shades of Kojima's Metal Gear Solid V in the tactical espionage and stylish shootouts. There are also spectacular battles against giant mechs and monsters, and thrilling set pieces such as a race on a futuristic bike through a burning forest to rescue a kangaroo. Kojima's games are always entrenched in cinema — here we get Denis Villeneuve (Dune) in the sweeping camera shots and David Lynch in the abstract horror. Death Stranding 2 is stunning and everything the first game should have been. ★★★★★ Available on PlayStation 5 from June 26
