Waste-to-wonder: Noida Jungle Trail with tigers & camels set to open in July
Noida: A slice of the wild, crafted from steel and imagination, Noida's Jungle Trail is almost ready to welcome visitors next month. Part of the waste-to-wonder park project, the trail is set for a trial run starting June 25, with an official opening expected in early July.
While final touches are underway, officials say installation of the main gate, a cafeteria, and paintwork remain.
Deputy director (horticulture) of Noida Authority, Anand Mohan Singh, said UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will also be invited for the park's inauguration.
The 20-acre park is strategically placed to attract visitors from Noida, Delhi, Greater Noida and Faridabad. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 22 crore, the park is being developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) model by the Noida Authority in collaboration with a private company called Z-Tech.
The company has developed similar parks in Lucknow, including UP Darshan Park and Happiness Park.
Divided into four themed zones, the park offers an immersive wildlife experience. The Jungle Trail has over 700 life-sized animal sculptures from six continents, including elephants, tigers, camels, and exotic birds.
Isha Chaudhary, vice-president of Z-Tech, said every animal and artistic installation at the park has been designed using scrap materials like nuts, bolts, rods, chains, and fuel tanks.

"This reinforces our dedication to protecting the environment and our support towards the Swachh Bharat Mission," she said. "At this park, visitors can also experience a night Jungle Safari, where illuminated sculptures and ambient lighting create an authentic, life-like adventure," she added, noting that all sculptures, furniture, gazebos, and lighting fixtures at the park have been made using recycled and repurposed materials.
Nearly 500 tonnes of iron waste have been repurposed into elaborate sculptures, turning discarded materials into captivating visual elements. While most of the construction has been completed, the main entry gate, cafeteria, and painting are underway.

Mumbai : Fast-moving consumer goods, power, consumer durables, and information technology were the sectors that saw the highest selloff by overseas funds in the first-half of June, according to data from NSDL. The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector witnessed the highest outflows at ₹3,626 crore, after receiving inflows worth ₹815 crore in May. Between January and May, the sector saw selling worth over ₹14,000 crore. Velayudhan said that the interest rate and Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) cut by the RBI has prompted inflows into the financial services sector. Beyond banking and financial services, their purchases in most of the other sectors were relatively modest. "While it is tough to predict further flows, foreign investors are likely to be nimble-footed, so no major flows are likely amid the geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the trade situation between US and China," said Bhamre. Chemicals, oil & gas, and capital goods were among the other sectors that received flows in the first- half of June. Bhamre said that the premium attached to the Trump tariffs is expected to come off given the back and forth on tariffs by Trump.

‘Interest on refund is like compensation in consumer disputes'
New Delhi: The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), while holding builders liable for deficiency in service, observed that in consumer cases, awarding interest along with a refund serves as a form of compensation. The commission's bench of Justice Sudip Ahluwalia and Sadhna Shanker was hearing an appeal filed by a builder against the orders of a state commission. The state commission had found the builder's service deficient and directed a refund of Rs 34,27,747 with 12% interest, Rs 1 lakh as compensation, and Rs 11,000 as litigation costs to the complainant. On June 16, NCDRC modified the state commission's order based on legal precedents. It set aside the Rs 1 lakh compensation but increased the litigation costs from Rs 11,000 to Rs 40,000. In 2011, the complainants booked a flat in a project by Barnala Builders on the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway after seeing advertisements that claimed it was fully developed and clear of legal issues. They paid a large portion of the price, but the builder did not provide the buyer's agreement at first. Later, the builder gave them an agreement with many unexpected and unfair terms. The complainants also received several arbitrary service tax demands without a proper explanation. Despite paying over Rs 34 lakh, they were only given a paper possession letter, while actual development, utility connections, and statutory certificates were still missing. They asked for a refund, but the builder only threatened forfeiture. They filed a complaint before the state commission of Punjab in 2014. The commission in 2016 held that the builder had been deficient in service and ordered a refund of Rs 34,27,747 with 12% interest, Rs 1 lakh compensation, and Rs 11,000 as litigation costs. Aggrieved, the builder filed an appeal before the National Commission. The national commission reaffirmed that in consumer cases, giving interest and a refund is a kind of compensation.
