AP to hold 1st-ever nursing CET for 13,710 BSc seats, exam on July 6

Vijayawada: Dr NTR University of Health Sciences vice chancellor Dr P Chandra Sekhar said that the govt, for the first time, will conduct the AP Nursing Common Entrance Test (APNCET) 2025 for admissions to fill about 13,710 seats in the four-year BSc Nursing undergraduate course at govt and private nursing colleges from the forthcoming academic year in the state.
Thexe VC said that the university has issued a notification for the entrance examination scheduled to be held on July 6. He mentioned that so far, around 6,000 applications have been received from students, and the deadline for students to submit their applications is 6 pm on June 20.
Dr Chandra Sekhar said the state govt proposed to hold the common entrance test for admissions into BSc (Nursing) from the 2025-26 academic year as per the revised INC regulations 2020. In previous years, as per the guidelines of the INC and AP govt, the university adopted the APEAPCET exams for the BSc (Nursing) courses, Dr Chandra Sekhar said.
Registrar Dr V Radhika Reddy said the entrance test will be held for 100 marks with objective-type questions from biology, physics, chemistry, English, and nursing sptitude.

Over 5 lakh take part in Yogandhra-2025 campaign in Chittoor

The month-long Yogandhra-2025 celebrations concluded on Saturday at Mesanical Grounds of the District Sports Authority here with District Collector Sumit Kumar urging people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives for better health. Addressing a massive gathering of yoga participants, the Collector said that over 5 lakh people participated in yoga sessions conducted in coordination with the AP Tourism and Revenue departments. More than 5,000 trainers were deployed to ensure wide public engagement across the district. 'We conducted major sessions at seven venues, including tourist spots like Puligundu, Boyakonda, Kanipakam, Naniyala Elephant Camp, and Kangundi Fort. These sessions drew thousands of participants,' he said. The Collector highlighted that yoga must not be limited to a one-month campaign but practiced as a lifelong companion to enhance physical and mental well-being. Referring to the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the International Yoga Day event in Visakhapatnam, Mr. Kumar said that it would serve as a valid endorsement of the benefits of yoga for society. SP Manikanta Chandolu urged the people to practice yoga daily for complete wellness. The Collector and SP presented certificates and mementos to outstanding trainers and yoga instructors. Joint Collector G. Vidyadhari, Chittoor Urban Development Authority Chairperson Katari Hemalatha, and Chittoor Mayor C. Amuda were among those who participated in the yoga session.

Visually impaired children perform yoga in Mysuru

Mysuru: Special and visually impaired children performed at the 11th International Yoga day event at Mysuru Palace premises on Saturday morning and inspired people. Visual impairment was no hurdle for 8-year-old Chetan of class 1 nor 10-year-old Shankar who performed yoga at the event. As many as 29 others like them from Government Blind School for Boys of Mysuru from class 1 to 10, joined them. They were accompanied and helped by members of an NGO - Payal Sharma, Anil Kumar led by their CEO Anantha Lakshmi. The NGO has been training them with yoga and other skills like swimming, spoken English, computer courses, various sports. Also, three teachers Shivakumar, Ravi and Uday accompanied the children. Down syndrome too didn't deter the spirit of 9-year-old Shaheeb from Pukkoottu, Mallapura district of Kerala. He was one among 15 other special children from four to 10 years of age from different parts of the country who are in Mysuru for a two year pre-school training at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing. .They were accompanied by AIISH Director M Puspavathi, yoga instructor, Hemali Rudrappa and special educator C C Leena. Wearing saree did not come in way for neither 55-year-old Rajamma nor her daughter Jaya Ravi Kumar and several women among the 70 people from Kempisiddanahundi of Mysuru who performed yoga by sporting a white t-shirt at the event. They are learning yoga at Ayush Arogya Mandira from Dr K Sujatha at the village. Rajamma shared, "I have been learning yoga for four years. I wake up at 5 pm and practice yoga with fellow villagers from 6 am to 7 am and later get along with routine chores and don't get tired till evening. Earlier I suffered from gastritis, asthma and knee joint pain, now I am not taking medicine for any of it and I am healthy due to yoga," she said.

PM Modi leads 11th International Yoga Day celebrations from Visakhapatnam

The Prime Minister was seen performing several asanas at an event in Visakhapatnam. The theme for this year is "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," which echoes India's vision of global wellness and reflects the integrated vision of well-being. Delhi, too, is all set to actively participate in the national celebration. Yoga events will be held at 109 locations across the capital.(AP) It emphasises the interconnectedness of human and planetary health, drawing from the Indian ethos of "Sarve Santu Niramaya" (May all be free from disease). PM Modi arrived in Visakhapatnam on Friday evening. He was received by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the Prime Minister will perform the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) with over 3 lakh participants at the Visakhapatnam venue, synchronised with over 10 lakh locations across the country under the 'Yoga Sangam' initiative. The mass demonstration will be held from 6:30 to 7:45 AM and is expected to attract unprecedented participation from all over the country.
