Fake cops, real laughs: Bungling impostors try to stop car with DIY siren

NOWADAYS, robbers and thieves are becoming more and more creative. Their methods are many, their victims uncountable.
But sometimes, things can get to the point of being comical. Take for example a recent video on X which showed several 'police officers,' attempting to stop a moving car.
However, even the average Joe can point out that there was something painfully obvious and wrong about the ride used by these officers.
Even more hilarious was the fact that one of the officers slapped a siren at the top of the car just to make it look official. In the video, the officers could be seen signalling for the car to stop.

'This is stupid. It is obvious these are not the police with three people wearing masks,' said netizen @ijakRashid who watched the video.
Another netizen added that the police nowadays only ride in Honda Civic. However, another pointed out that they drove Honda City, and the premium Civics were reserved for the army.
'These people must be watching too many Hong Kong movies or dramas about police officers,' said @YtFrzz99609 while @nalvsamy claimed they wanted to cheat people although they were foolish.
Then there was a sharp-eyed netizen who claimed it happened at the Guthrie highway, likely during the midnight till morning since the place lacks vehicles.
Also, several others pointed out how easy it is to become a police officer nowadays since they could get the uniform and siren for cheap online.
According to @nrhnsharol, the safety vest worn by the police officer could be bought at Mr DIY or at a hardware shop.
But there appears to be more where this story is concerned. Apparently, the video was an old one, being identified by several netizens.

News portal Harian Metro published a story on June 6, 2023, where police officers detained two men, including a civil servant, in relation to the incident, which happened at km 41.5 of the North-South Expressway heading north.
Johor Police Chief, Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, said a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kulai District Police Headquarters (IPD) arrested the two local men, aged 43 and 48.
In the video, three men posing as police used a beacon light resembling that of the authorities and attempted to instruct the victim to pull over.
The account owner, named Freeman Gan, stated that he was chased by a car resembling a police vehicle while travelling from Singapore to Genting Highlands via the expressway. —June 14, 2025

In video journalism, NST received bronze in both the Best Video Documentary and Best Video Talk Show categories. Archery instructor pleads not guilty to sexually assaulting 15-year-old

(Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA : An archery instructor was charged in the Klang sessions court today with committing sexual assault and unnatural sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl last week. Harian Metro reported that Faizul Taib pleaded not guilty after the two charges were read before judge Siti Aminah Ghazali. He is accused of sexually assaulting the victim at a toilet in Klang at around 4.20pm on June 10. The charge is under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides up to 20 years' imprisonment and whipping. The father of one was also charged with committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature with the victim at the same place, date and time. The second charge is under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which provides for five to 20 years' imprisonment and whipping. Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Jannah Aimi proposed bail of RM15,000 with the condition that the accused do not disturb the witnesses, whether in person or by proxy. Faizul was represented by lawyer Daneish Thayalan, who informed the court that his client had a monthly salary of RM4,000 and supported his wife and child. 'He also pays for the medication of his father, who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. My client has no issue with reporting to a police station monthly and requests that bail be lowered,' he said. The court set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and set re-mention of the case for Aug 19.
