Sooraj Barjatya won't cast ‘Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit in Hum Aapke Hain Koun sequel', will make it with fresh cast: ‘No star is bigger than the script'
Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan share a great bond as they started their career together. While for Salman, Sooraj is someone who trusted him with a film at a time when nobody was ready to cast him; for Sooraj, Salman is someone who always believed a film is more important than its stars. And till date, this is the same ideology that keeps them together with Sooraj making four out of his seven directorial movies with the actor in the lead.
Sooraj Barjatya is known for making larger-than-life family movies including Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. All of these films were a hit at the box office, and continue to be a classic. However, despite its success, and bond with Salman Khan, the filmmaker wouldn't cast him for a sequel to these films.
In a conversation with Times of India, Sooraj said he would not want Salman Khan or Madhuri Dixit to be in the sequel of Hum Apke Hain Koun, if he ever plans to make one. 'It would have a fresh cast', said the filmmaker.
Explaining his reasons, Sooraj said, that after reaching a certain age, people often trust a good film than a star. The filmmaker shared details about his bond with Salman Khan, but said if only there is a good script with characters that suit him and Madhuri, is when he will want to work with the stars again. 'I have always believed that a good script is bigger than anything else.'
Previously, talking about Salman Khan, Sooraj told Mid-Day, 'He always believed that the film was more important, and it is still there today. Even now, if I want to make a film with someone else, he'd be supportive, and even ask if I needed him to do a guest appearance.' Sooraj has hinted that he will collaborate with Salman again and is already scripting the film. However, he added that it will take time as he needs a script that suits the actor's age.
