Police probe man who posed as medical assistant at Kangar hospital
KANGAR: Police launched an investigation into an incident involving a man who allegedly posed as a medical assistant at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah (HTF) earlier this month.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said the incident occurred at 9.23pm on April 8, when a 43-year-old hospital staff member was alerted by a colleague who had seen a man in full medical assistant attire riding a motorcycle towards the hospital.
"At 9.28pm, the suspect entered the hospital grounds. The complainant intercepted him in front of the specialist clinic building and discovered that he was only 22 years old.
"The suspect claimed he was employed at Kuala Lumpur Hospital and was currently on leave. The complainant then escorted him to the emergency department for further questioning," he said in a statement today.
Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to impersonating a medical assistant.
"He said he did so out of personal interest. The uniform was purchased online, and the stethoscope had been taken from a security guard's desk at the hospital.
"The hospital staff confiscated all the items, including the stolen stethoscope, and contacted the suspect's elder brother to take him home. The family was also advised to monitor his behaviour and was informed of the seriousness of the offence," he added.
A police report was lodged at the Kangar Police Station at 4.05pm the following day, as hospital staff were concerned the incident could happen again.
The case is being investigated under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant.

Cops probe video showing alleged bullying of schoolgirl

(Envato Elements pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have launched an investigation into a bullying incident involving female students that allegedly took place in the restroom of a secondary school in Klang, after a video of the incident went viral on Facebook. Klang Utara police chief S Vijaya Rao said a report on the incident was made just before 1pm today. 'The cause of the incident is still under investigation,' he said in a statement. A video lasting about two minutes went viral on social media, showing a student surrounded by a group of female students who hit and slapped her. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. Vijaya urged those with information to contact investigating officer Izroy Kamarulzaman at 014-818 3519 to assist with the investigation.
