Man finds 'hidden treasure' behind mirror in bathroom - and asks 'what do I do?'

Daily Record28-05-2025

A man has left the internet in hysterics after sharing the 'hidden treasure' he discovered behind his bathroom mirror - but some people have been left feeling uneasy.
A chap who stumbled upon "hidden treasure" behind his bathroom mirror has turned to the public for guidance on what steps to take next. Matthew Mann's TikTok video took off as he queried his followers: "What the hell do I do?" having found an unusual electrical set-up.
Filming from his loo, Matthew conveyed that a dodgy latch on the mirror prompted an investigation that led to an unexpected discovery. "I was just curious and I found a TV screen and a light behind the mirror," he said.

"It doesn't seem to be plugged in - there's a cable box though. It does turn on but I don't have a remote. What was somebody doing? Watching the news while brushing their teeth?"

Mentioning its proximity to the lav, Matthew gave a glimpse of how, with dim lighting, one could comfortably watch the TV. "This is going to drive my ADHD crazy," he admitted, reports the Manchester Evening News.
"Am I going to have to get cable for my bathroom now? I might."
After racking up four million views, Matthew's revelation prompted myriad suggestions for the feature's potential applications. "You found some IT dude's abandoned productivity project," one TikToker suggested.
"There's software called 'magic mirror' that's like a sci-fi mirror dashboard. You put the weather, your calendar, a bus schedule on it."
A second person speculated: "The mirror is somewhat transparent and allows the TV to play through. So you can watch news or whatever when getting ready. This is like a 2000s tech setup."

A third advised: "Get a Google TV dongle, it has a remote and it's connected wirelessly to the Wi-Fi, you can turn the tv on/off with it. Now u have a smart tv in ur bathroom u can watch Netflix, YouTube, whatever."
Yet, a fourth gravely wondered: "Do you think they had cameras someplace and they were watching from there? The whole situation is weird."

One week on, Matthew returned online to share his newfound adventure resulting from the enigmatic discovery. "I finally turned this mystery that I uncovered into something fun," he shared.
Having equipped himself with a universal remote control, an Amazon Firestick, and a light bulb, Matthew crafted his own set-up and demonstrated his success by playing The Lord of the Rings in another video.
Reflecting on his inventive solution, a TikTok commenter suggested: "Well you could do movie reviews from the can, it would be hilarious," A second wrote: "Engrossed in this series from the UK. When is episode 4 coming out?"

Another chimed in with praise saying: "It looks sick. Now you can flex on everyone with this thing."
Meanwhile, someone else humorously remarked: "This is so badass!"
Matthew concluded by countering claims that the series of videos had been "staged", as some had speculated. He showed the accumulation of dust behind the mirror as evidence, remarking: "Like, come on guys, really?"

Another critic commented: 'He has the talent of an average teenage boy that just recently started learning guitar.' Cruz, who has, to be fair, spent years working on his musicianship, said: 'It's easy to comment on TikTok isn't it. U think I care what you think darling x.' To many laughs from his followers, he hit back: 'Julie mate have u seen what u look like, maybe sort it out.' I can't blame Cruz for getting short in the comments, given people have been so judgmental before even hearing what he has to offer. I look so young I got ID'd at Disney World with my kids – the worker was stunned when they realised my real age

A MUM who looks a decade younger than her real age has revealed she's even been ID'd at Disney World while with her kids. Courtney Ryrie-Novack is originally from Scotland but now lives in Florida and has two young sons, four-year-old Kolsyn and Hudsyn, two. 3 The mum regularly shares parenting tips and her family life on TikTok (@scottishcourt) where she boasts almost 22,000 followers. In a recent video, she spoke out about a family trip to Disney World with her sons. And she was left stunned when she was mistaken for a teenager by staff. Courtney lipsynced "I'm a mommy, I'm a mom" while her TikTok caption read: "What it felt like when the Disney cast member ID me to rent a bike (18+) with my two kids beside me." The mum of two turns 27 in August but admits she still gets ID'd "quite often". While it's mostly for looking younger than 21, the legal age to buy booze in America, she has even been mistaken for a teen. She told Fabulous: "I had been ID'd for 21+ quite a few times but only 18+ once or twice before, so I was shocked [when I was ID'd at Disney World]. "I found it a little bit comical but at the same time a little flattered seeing as everyone wants to look younger after having kids I feel. "The worker apologised and just said 'wow I would have never guessed' but remained professional." The youthful mum doesn't gatekeep her secrets to looking good for your age, either. I'm 40 but look younger than I did in my 20s – I splurge on skincare but my biggest secret doesn't have to cost a thing While she admits she's "still trying to find a secret formula" for skincare, she keeps it pretty simple with her daily routine - and it's obviously working! She said: "I wash my face twice a day with a sensitive, clean facial cleanser. "And I always tone my face and use sun tan lotion (sunscreen) if I'm going to be exposed a lot to the sun that day, such as a theme park or beach day." We told earlier how Courtney suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at a water park - and her son was the culprit. She said: "Nothing is more humbling than being a toddler mum. "My son just exposed me to the whole of Aquatica [water park] by pulling my bikini top off as I was carrying his float. "I was mortified." She added: "Such a love hate relationship with your kids anyone disagrees are lying. "You love them no matter what though before anyone comes for me."
