Another flight cancelled: Air India cancels Paris-bound AI143 flight after 'issue'; releases statement

NEW DELHI: Air India on Tuesday said its Paris-bound flight AI143 was cancelled after pre-flight checks identified an issue.
The Air India spokesperson further said that the flight was cancelled as Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport in Paris restricted night operations.
"Flight AI143 from Delhi to Paris of 17 June has been cancelled. The mandatory pre-flight checks identified an issue which is being presently addressed. However, in view of the flight coming under the restrictions on night operations at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport, the said flight has been cancelled," Air India Spokesperson said.

The Tata-owned airlines said that they were "providing hotel accommodation and also offering full refunds on cancellations or complimentary rescheduling if opted by the passengers".
The return flight AI142 from Paris to Delhi on June 18 was also cancelled.
"Consequently, flight AI142 from Paris to Delhi on June 18, 2025 also stands cancelled," the issue further read.
Just a few hours ago, the aviation company cancelled a flight from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick Airport.
The airline, however, clarified the reason behind the cancellation of its Ahmedabad–Gatwick flight AI159, denying rumours of a technical fault.
In a statement, the airline said: "Flight AI159 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick has been cancelled today due to the unavailability of the aircraft, resulting from airspace restrictions and additional precautionary checks, leading to longer than usual turnaround of aircraft, and not due to any technical snag as claimed."
The flight was cancelled just two days after a deadly crash involving the same route.
On June 12, Air India Flight AI171 crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing 241 of the 242 people onboard, as well as several on the ground. AI-159 is now the renamed code for AI-171.
As flight operations continue to face disruptions, the Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned an urgent virtual meeting with Air India and Air India Express officials.

The passengers of the flight that was scheduled to take off from Chandigarh were deplaned safely. 'The issue was identified prior to departure, and the aircraft did not proceed with takeoff. The affected passengers were either accommodated on alternate flights or offered a full refund," according to the ANI sources. This comes only a few days after an IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Chennai was forced to divert to Bengaluru after the pilot issued a 'fuel mayday' call due to insufficient fuel in the plane. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday. According to ANI sources, the diversion was necessary as Chennai airport was facing heavy air traffic. 'The diversion occurred because of congestion at Chennai airport, which prevented the aircraft from landing there in time. Passengers were on board during the emergency reroute," they said. The aircraft landed safely at Bengaluru airport at 8:15 PM, where arrangements were made to ensure passengers' comfort during the unscheduled stop. 'During the refuelling process, passengers were provided refreshments, and their baggage was offloaded. Due to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL), the airline had to arrange for a fresh crew," sources added. The flight resumed its journey and subsequently departed for Chennai at 10:24 PM. Air India now cuts single aisle flights by 5% 'at least' till mid July

NEW DELHI: After a 15% cut in wide body flights, Air India Sunday said it is temporarily reducing narrow body operations by about 5% till at least July 15, 2025. AI uses its Airbus A320 family of single aisles mostly on domestic and nearby international routes. Three daily flights — between Bengaluru & Singapore (AI 2392/2393), Pune & Singapore (AI 2111/2110) and Mumbai & Bagdogra (AI 551/552) — have been suspended till July 15. 'This voluntary decision leads to the temporary suspension of Air India's services on three routes and reduction of frequency on 19 routes. The changes are effective until at least July 15, 2025. These reductions are aimed at strengthening Air India's network-wide operational stability and minimising last-minute inconvenience to passengers. Despite these temporary reductions, Air India will continue to operate close to 600 daily flights with its narrowbody aircraft on 120 domestic and short-haul international routes,' AI said in a statement. 'Air India apologises to the passengers affected by these curtailments and is proactively contacting affected passengers to offer re-accommodation on alternative flights, complimentary rescheduling or full refunds as per their preferences…. We remain committed to restoring our full schedule as soon as practicable, while at all times prioritising the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft,' it added. Air India To Scale Back Narrow-Body Operations Across 19 Routes Until Mid-July

New Delhi: Air India has announced a considerable but temporary five per cent reduction in its narrow-body flight operations across select domestic and short-haul international routes, citing the need to bolster operational stability. Until 15 July, the airline is temporarily suspending services on three routes and reducing frequency on 19 routes. The airline is suspending services between Bengaluru-Singapore, Pune-Singapore and Mumbai-Bagdogra - each route losing all seven weekly rotations. Key domestic arteries like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Pune, and Mumbai's links to Goa, Hyderabad and other metros have also seen scaled-back schedules with reduced frequency, thereby losing between five and twelve weekly flights in each sector. This announcement comes after Air India had slashed 15 per cent of its long-haul wide-body operations across international routes following the June 12 AI 171 Dreamliner crash at Ahmedabad. Besides regulatory pressure, the airline is grappling with Middle Eastern airspace closures and night-time curfews in European and East Asian sectors. These factors have already caused 83 wide-body flight cancellations in recent days. According to the airline, the reductions are aimed at strengthening Air India's network-wide operational stability and minimising last-minute inconvenience to passengers. As the airline recalibrates its network and pursues "maximum caution", Air India seeks to assure passengers that full schedules will resume as soon as inspections clear and airspace conditions stabilise.
