Edinburgh man arrested in early hour 'raid' on major city centre street

An Edinburgh man was arrested following a police raid at a property on a busy city centre street on Sunday morning.
Officers executed a warrant at a premises on Lothian Road at around 1:30am on Sunday, June 22 and a 30-year-old man was arrested.
Images of the incident show around eight police vehicles in attendance outside Club Tropicana and NQ64.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with outstanding warrants at a premises on Lothian Road in Edinburgh around 1.30am on Sunday, 22 June, 2025.
'He has been charged and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 23 June.'

A 20-year-old man is facing 15 criminal charges in a shooting Thursday that injured two Southgate police officers, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Jeremiah Kemp of Wayne, Michigan, is charged with three counts of assault with intent to murder, three counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, one count of discharge of a firearm causing serious impairment, one count of carrying a concealed weapon and seven counts of felony firearm. Kemp was arraigned on Sunday in district court. Three officers responded to an apartment at 13200 Village Park Dr. in Southgate, Michigan, around 6 p.m. According to the prosecutor's office, Kemp was allegedly on the second floor of the apartment with a handgun. Responding officers located Kemp in a laundry room. The prosecutor's office says Kemp then shot two of the officers in their legs. The third officer was not injured. Officials said Kemp jumped out of a window and left the area. He was found and arrested around two hours after the shooting. The two officers shot have been identified by police as 45-year-old Jason Jones and 28-year-old Matthew Dube. Both are at home and recovering. If posted, he'll be under house arrest with a GPS tether, and he won't be able to contact witnesses, the prosecutor's office said. Local man arrested in connection with second homicide of year in city in less than a week

WORCESTER — Police are investigating the second killing in less than a week and have arrested a local man in connection with the second homicide of the year in the city. Antonio Canales-Martinez, 26, is charged with armed assault to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, aggravated assault and battery with serious bodily injury and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched for shots fired on Southgate Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man lying on the sidewalk, according to police. Police immediately began to render aid and the victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Crime Scene Unit safely processed the firearm. This incident is under investigation by the Detective Bureau. Canales-Martinez is expected to be arraigned Monday, June 23, in Central District Court. This is the second homicide of the year and the second in less than a week. The first homicide was Wednesday, June 18. Return to for more on this story. A man in his 20s has died following a two-vehicle collision. Avon and Somerset Police said the crash happened at about 23:35 BST on 20 June in Uphill Road North in Weston-super-Mare. The force said a red Audi A3 was heading towards Uphill when it collided with a purple Mercedes C240 travelling in the opposite direction, near the junction for Moorland Road. The Audi driver sustained serious injuries and died in hospital on Saturday. Police said the Mercedes driver, aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Uphill Road North was closed to allow for an investigation and recovery work but reopened on Saturday morning. Anybody who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the force.
