Minister of Government Communications: Jordan's Position Firm in Safeguarding Sovereignty and National Security Amid Regional Escalation

Minister of Government Communications: Jordan's Position Firm in Safeguarding Sovereignty and National Security Amid Regional Escalation Minister of Government Communications and official government spokesperson, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, said that Jordan is addressing the military escalation in the region from the standpoint of protecting its national sovereignty and security. اضافة اعلان In press remarks today, Al-Momani emphasized that His Majesty King Abdullah II made it clear from the outset of the crisis that Jordan will not allow any party to use its airspace or territory in the context of conflicts or hostile actions. 'Based on His Majesty's directives, Jordan will in no way serve as a battleground for military confrontations between conflicting parties. The Kingdom is a sovereign state with a duty to safeguard its security and stability,' Al-Momani stated. He affirmed that Jordan will not tolerate any violations of its sovereignty and will take appropriate measures in line with international norms to respond to any aggression or infringement. Al-Momani explained that Jordan's goal is clear: to maintain national security, stability, and the safety of citizens and their property. 'We are operating with high efficiency and continuous preparedness to minimize the impact of the current crisis on Jordan's interests across all dimensions,' he said. He stressed that Jordan's position is unequivocal: the Kingdom does not take sides in the ongoing conflict, but rather remains focused on preserving its own security and stability and avoiding involvement in conflicts in which it is not directly engaged. Al-Momani said: 'Since day one of the crisis, we have been stationed at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, receiving information from various state institutions, including representatives from the Arab Army, the Air Force, Public Security, and numerous ministries. This center enables us to respond to the crisis effectively and appropriately.' He added: 'As a media and communications team, we were responsible for crafting the official messaging, determining how and when to release information, and identifying the key messages the Jordanian state needed to convey during the crisis. We also managed communication with various media outlets and addressed misleading, false, or inciteful news that aimed to undermine Jordan's stance.' Al-Momani noted that from the beginning of the crisis, the state adopted a media strategy for managing the escalating events, emphasizing the importance of relying on official sources of information and avoiding the spread of rumors and misinformation. He stressed that times of crisis often see a rise in rumors and false news, which requires vigilance and caution in handling such content. On a second level of response, Al-Momani pointed to the legal aspect, which involves monitoring any content or statements that violate the law or threaten national security, with appropriate legal actions taken accordingly. He confirmed that Jordan remains actively engaged in the media space—across both traditional and social media platforms—to counter any campaigns or news that incite against Jordan's position or undermine its national principles, with the goal of preserving the country's image and its consistent stance in support of regional stability. Al-Momani reaffirmed Jordan's firm commitment to preserving national sovereignty and security, stressing the importance of confronting any attempts to breach Jordanian airspace or compromise the safety of its citizens. He concluded by stating that protecting the security of citizens and national sovereignty is a sacred duty of the Jordanian state—one that it will continue to uphold unwaveringly. — (Petra)
