Five diverse projects go on display across NI as part of Belfast Photo Festival's 2025 edition
As part of the 2025 Belfast Photo Festival, a quintet of photographers have collaborated with conservation groups and local communities across Northern Ireland to visualise the fragility and beauty of our natural heritage, with focus on Lough Neagh, peatland, marine areas, the wider Belfast Hills, and temperate rainforests.
Visualising Northern Ireland's Natural Heritage is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, these new co-curated narratives and photographic works are being showcased and discussed across ten exhibitions and more than twelve events in Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland as part of this year's festival.

'It won't change us but it will change what we can do' A HARLEY-Davidson motorbike fan plans an easy ride into retirement after winning £4million on the National Lottery. Jon Waring, 57, has already handed in his notice as a police radio operator and nurse wife Lucy, 48, is also quitting. They also aim to buy a new family home in the area and create a music room in the house. Jon said: "This will be the perfect place to display the family's guitar collection - and potentially add to it too. "As a family, we love rock music and now the world really is our oyster - we hope to get the chance to attend gigs up and down the country. Advertisement "This win will just enable us all to slow down, enjoy life - and of course hit that road on the sunny days ahead on our new trike." They do not have passports but are now looking forward to whichever holidays take their fancy. Reacting to his huge win in the Lotto draw on May 31 Jon said: 'I keep thinking I am going to wake up from a dream. Jon, who also hopes to go on a Lions rugby trip, added: 'It won't change us but it will change what we can do.' Biker dad will retire and buy wife a hot tub after £3,900,000 Lottery win

What's the first thing you do after wining the lottery? Have 10 cups of tea, I guess. That was the answer of Jon Waring, 57, and his partner Lucy, 48, when they woke up to discover he'd won the £3.9 million Lotto Jackpot from May 31. The pair have now decided to quit both their jobs too and have put a Harley-Davidson at the top of their wish list. Rock fan Jon played Lotto each week since the game started before waking up at 4am on June 1 to check his ticket. His Lotto numbers were 8, 11, 12, 16, 20 and 33 and he matched all six to claim the multi-million pound jackpot. He said: 'Something just made me go to check my emails and I saw an email saying I had won a prize. 'I went to Google the winning numbers and I knew they were mine. 'I turned my tablet off – left it five minutes – and then turned it back on to double and triple check! 'I woke Lucy and she said, still half asleep, 'is it 1 April?' I said 'No, it is June!' 'We just could not believe it – there was no way we were getting back to sleep! We just sat and drank tea – we must have had 10 cups between us.' The pair, who also have a 15-year-old daughter, are still in disbelief but have been very clear-headed about what they wanted to do next. Jon has already handed in his notice at Devon and Cornwall Police, where he has worked as a radio operator for 16 years. Wife Lucy, 48, is working her notice as a nurse at Torbay Hospital. Now its time for to kick back and relax for the couple who don't even have current passports. Jon explained: 'As a result of our shift work, we have not had a proper holiday together for a long, long time. According to the National Lottery website, the odds of winning the jackpots are: Thunderball top prize: 1 in 8,060,598 Lotto jackpot: 1 in 45,057,474 EuroMillions jackpot: 1 in 139,838,160 Set For Life top prize: 1 in 15,339,390 Before you go rushing out to buy a Thunderball ticket or two (or three), here, it's important to put the odds into perspective. There are many things more likely to happen than winning the lottery. According to Save The Student, you are almost five times more likely to be struck by lightning, 64 times more likely to be crushed by a meteorite, and 4,000 times more likely to win an Oscar. 'We are now really looking forward to booking something and knowing we can just holiday when we choose! Perhaps a trip to New Orleans for the music. 'It's all the things you dream about trying and seeing but know you never will – until something like this happens!' The biker dad wants to buy a Harley-Davidson trike bike first thing, while mum Lucy has a hot tub in her sights. They also want to upscale their family house, finding one big enough to hold a music room with a guitar display. Their new crib will also need a driveway big enough to hold the new car Jon wants to buy – an Audi Q7. He added, 'It's a complete change of lifestyle – it won't change us, but it will change what we can do! And the pace at which we do it too.' More Trending The Warings are one of more than 7,400 people who have won millions through The National Lottery since its launch in 1994. Their win came just weeks before one lucky person from Ireland scooped a £208 million EuroMillions jackpot. €250 million (£209,087,500), March 28, 2025, anonymous winner, Austria €250 million (£208,000,000), June 17, 2025, anonymous winner, Ireland €240 million (£200,733,952), December 8, 2023, anonymous winner, Austria €230 million (£192,376,378), July 19, 2022, anonymous winner, UK €220 million (£184,022,527), October 15, 2021, anonymous winner, Haiti (French Polynesia) €215 million (£179,830,489), May 10, 2022, Jess and Joe Thwaite, UK The person's identity isn't known yet, but the Irish National Lottery confirmed that one person has won the huge jackpot, equivalent to 250million Euros.
