Five Guys to open first restaurant of its kind at Heathrow

Five Guys and Heathrow have announced that the burger brand will be opening a new restaurant at Heathrow Terminal 5 later this year. The new Five Guys restaurant will be the first opening in a UK and European airport.
The 2,500 square feet unit will be on the upper level of Heathrow T5, and is predicted to serve approximately 90 covers, as well as offering a speedy takeaway option for travellers. The site will also create between 80-100 new jobs for the terminal.
Trading from first flight to last flight, Five Guys will be offering daytime and breakfast menu options to Heathrow passengers. The restaurant will feature elements tailored for Heathrow, including a dedicated Welcome Host to greet passengers. Distinctive design enhancements will include an increased number of ordering kiosks in six different languages and travel-friendly elements.
'We are thrilled to be opening a brand new Five Guys at Heathrow Terminal 5 this year,' said John Eckbert, CEO of Five Guys UK. 'Having opened over 170 restaurants across the UK since we first launched back in 2013, the brand has established itself as one of the nation's favourites for premium burgers. Now Five Guys is cementing itself at the UK's busiest travel hub; we are excited to be providing our delicious menu to travellers as part of their journeys.'
Fraser Brown, Retail Director at Heathrow, said: 'We're very excited to welcome Five Guys to Terminal 5 - becoming the first airport in the UK and Europe to host the beloved burger brand. This exciting addition reflects our commitment to making every journey better, as we continue to build an extraordinary airport fit for the future. We're confident this new arrival will be a hit with our passengers.'
Founded in Virginia in 1986 and launched in the UK in 2013 in London's Covent Garden, the American-diner style restaurant has amassed a loyal fanbase.

Keegan Bradley confirms Ryder Cup stance after Travelers Championship triumph

Keegan Bradley could yet become the first United States captain to feature at the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963 after winning the Travelers Championship on Sunday US captain Keegan Bradley has admitted he could pick himself for the Ryder Cup after beating Tommy Fleetwood to win the Travelers Championships. 'It's insane,' he said. In a Ryder Cup style atmosphere with chants of 'USA, USA' ringing out at the TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, Bradley made a birdie on the 72nd hole to win by a single shot from the European star. The 2011 US PGA champion climbed to world No.7 and ninth in the American Ryder Cup standings. The top six qualify before six wildcard picks. ‌ Bradley had previously insisted he would only be the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963 if he qualified automatically. ‌ But after his eighth PGA Tour title, the 39-year-old said: 'This changes the story a little bit. I never would have thought about playing if I hadn't won. This definitely opens the door to play. I don't know if I'm going to do it or not, but I certainly have to take a pretty hard look at what's best for the team and we'll see. It's still June, so we still got a long ways to go. This definitely changes things a little bit, and we'll all get together and figure out the best way to do this. 'It's insane. My whole life every year I was out here I wanted to play on the Ryder Cup team, and then this would be the first year where maybe I didn't want to. I just wanted to be the captain and, of course, you know, this is what happens. But we'll see. I'm going to do whatever I think is best for the team. Whether that's me on the team -- this certainly changes a lot of things. I was never going to play on the team unless I had won a tournament and so that's changed, but we'll see.' Bradley has two wins against world-class fields in the last 10 months and only World No.1 Scottie Scheffler has won more in the last 10 months among players ahead of him in the Ryder Cup standings. The time a top-10 player was not picked was when world No.7 Bubba Watson was snubbed in 2016 Qualifying lasts until August 17. After his press conference, Bradley told the Golf Channel that if he plays at Bethpage Black on Long Island he will still be captain with his assistants – Jim Furyk, Webb Simpson, Kevin Kisner and Brandt Snedeker – taking extra responsibilities. His omission from the 2023 team in Rome was controversial as he finished 11th on the points list. Zach Johnson chose the out-of-form Justin Thomas in one of the best storylines in the Netflix documentary "Full Swing". ‌ Bradley, who also won the Travelers Championship in 2023, said:I got the call at 8 o'clock tonight a year ago today. So I've been getting these questions for a year. Whether I play well or play poorly, it's something that I have become used to. To be honest with you, I never really planned on playing. I really wanted to just be the captain. I really felt strongly about that. I want to serve the guys. They asked me to do a job. I want to do it to the best of my abilities. Now, with the amazing vice captains that I have, and I have a better perspective of playing in the Presidents Cup and being around a lot of the guys, I feel a lot more comfortable if I went that route. I'm really proud of the guys that are vice captains and -- you know, obviously, you got Jim Furyk, one of the greatest players to play and also an incredibly great captain at the Presidents Cup.' Bradley spared a thought for European star Fleetwood who led by two shots with three to play and has still to win in 159 attempts on the PGA Tour. 'I know how hard it must be for him,' said the American. 'He's just an unbelievable player, and he's fighting so hard to get his first win. It's a weird thing to be on the other side of that. I do feel bad for him, but I got to go out and do what I need to do. But he battled today and I really hope that he gets his win soon.'

New Spain rules could see tourists fined for drinking

The Spanish government is cracking down People from the UK and beyond who are planning a Spanish getaway this summer should be aware of new rules you'll need to follow while in the European country. Travel experts from hoppa have put together a guide on Spain's rules and regulations for a seamless summer break. Chris Harrington, Managing Director at hoppa, said: 'Spain is introducing a wave of new travel regulations in 2025, following record-breaking visitor numbers. These new regulations have been put in place to manage mass tourism and public behaviour, and are extremely important to follow. ‌ "Failure to comply with new regulations can lead to holidaymakers being charged hundreds of euros, with more serious offences potentially incurring fines between €1,500 and €3,000. To help holiday makers enjoy their trip without facing any unwanted charges, we have put together a list of the 4 regulations you should be aware of". ‌ He went on to say: "Spain is an incredibly popular tourist destination for British holidaymakers. But it's more important than ever to be mindful and respectful when holidaying. By travelling with awareness of the local culture and regulations, you can contribute to a positive travel experience for yourself and others. "Before travelling, it is a good idea to check the Spanish tourism board and ensure that you are abiding by the rules of the municipality you are visiting." 'Bans' on stag and hen-do paraphernalia Platja d'Aro, in Costa Brava, has announced fines up to €1,500 for appearing in public "with clothing representing human genitals" in a crackdown on stag and hen dos from the UK. The bylaw specifically bans people from appearing 'on the public thoroughfare without clothing or only in their underwear or with clothing or accessories representing human genitals or with dolls or other accessories of a sexual nature'. Tougher public drinking laws Spain has expanded its restrictions on alcohol in public spaces, with drinking on the streets, parks, and on beaches strictly prohibited. If you are found drinking in a public space, you can be fined up to €3,000. Areas in Majorca, such as Llucmajor, Palma and Magaluf, have also stopped the sale of alcohol between 9:30pm and 8am, as well as putting a restriction on happy hour deals. Beach fines Members of the public who organise 'unauthorised gatherings' can be fined up to €750 for playing music too loudly. Areas such as Valencia may also impose fines between €1,501 and €3,000 for setting up tents and shelters without authorisation. ‌ Many beaches are now smoke-free zones, with a cigarette costing you up to €450 in fines, and a fine for drinking on the beach or promenade ranging from €1,501 to €3,000. Spain has also introduced daily visitor caps at certain beaches in the Balearic and Canary Islands. New information for booking accommodation or renting vehicles Details gathered by hotel proprietors, private rental providers and car hire firms will now be shared with the Spanish Ministry of Interior to bolster the nation's security. Tourists will now be required to provide their: Gender Nationality Date of birth Home address Landline phone number Mobile phone number Payment details and method Relationship to any children in the travelling party under the age of 14
