"Developed an artificial education model': Delhi CM Rekha Gupta lashes out at AAP over condition of schools
New Delhi [India], June 6 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday held a meeting with the principals of government schools and lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for developing an artificial education model, further stating that the education policy of the AAP government was aimed at a wrong direction.
'They developed an artificial education model. Haiderpur village is a heavily populated area in this Vidhan Sabha, but there is not a single school that teaches science. Where should those students who want to study science go? You can see the direction in which their education policy was aimed at, if they could not provide a single science school in the last 11 years of their governance... There is a shortage of staff in most schools...' the CM said, speaking to the media.
She further assured that staff recruitment was being done to fill in vacancies properly, further stating that 75 PM-SHRI schools would be established better than private schools.
'We are ensuring recruitment is done properly and all vacancies are filled... 75 PM-SHRI schools will be made, and they will be better than private schools...' she further added.
Minister Parvesh Verma also took a jibe at AAP's chief Arvind Kejriwal for making big claims of the redevelopment of schools and their education policy but not incorporating them.
'This building was constructed in 2018, and Arvind Kejriwal made big claims of redevelopment of schools and their education policy. They have just temporarily covered the gap between these two buildings with a sheet and screwed it. You see this huge fault in the architecture,' Verma said speaking to the media.
Meanwhile, on June 5, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Atishi had written a letter to the CM over the 'uncontrollable' fees of the private schools and demanded that the Fee Regulation Bill should be presented in the Assembly during a special session.
In her letter to the Delhi CM, Atishi said that the Bill should also be referred to the Select Committee, which will seek the opinion of the parents.
'The Government should immediately call a Special Session of the Assembly and table the Fee Regulation bill. The Bill should then be referred to a Select Committee, with members from both the BJP and AAP. The Select Committee should do a large-scale public consultation involving all stakeholders. Only after this, the final draft of the Bill, after incorporating all changes, should be passed by the Assembly,' Atishi said. (ANI)

"The book will become a guiding light to build Viksit Bharat with progressive thoughts while preserving our glorious heritage. President Droupadi Murmu knows the importance of diversity in our country and recognises the pain of the deprived. This book proclaims the spirit of equality," Singh said. The defence minister remarked that the book brings together President Murmu's insights and ideas across a wide range of subjects, from civilisation and culture to religion, science, art, literature, education, health, and the journey from past to future. Singh asserted on President Murmu being the best example of women-led development in India. On Saturday, Singh had said that Operation Sindoor was not over yet, and that India was ready to take 'all kinds of action against terrorism' while addressing troops of the Army's Udhampur-based Northern Command on the 11th International Yoga Day. Singh had warned that the military action in Pakistan, a retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, was a clear message that it would face the consequences for supporting terror activities against India.

Karnataka CM inaugurates development works worth 936 crore in Raichur
Raichur (Karnataka) [India], June 23 (ANI): Development works worth Rs 936 crore were inaugurated in Raichur, Karnataka, on Monday, reaffirming the Congress Government's commitment to delivering on its promises, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, as per an official statement from the Karnataka Chief Minister's Office (CMO). He was speaking after inaugurating the Tribal Cultural Festival organised by the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department and the District Administration, unveiling the nameplate of Adikavi Maharshi Valmiki University, and participating in the 371st Dashamanotsav celebrations. 'Our government is committed to development. We had promised 560 guarantees during this election. Already, 235 of these have been fulfilled, and the remaining will be completed in the next three years,' the Chief Minister said. He criticised the previous BJP government, accusing it of neglecting development and now resorting to false propaganda out of frustration over Congress' achievements. 'From 2013 to 2018, our previous government fulfilled all the promises made and even 30 more that were not part of the manifesto,' he recalled. Highlighting the 'steep price rise' under the Modi-led government, the CM pointed out how the prices of gold, silver, rice, pulses, cooking oil, LPG, petrol, diesel, and fertilisers have risen sharply, burdening ordinary citizens. 'Despite being in power at the Centre, the BJP is lying shamelessly to the people,' he charged. Emphasising the historical importance of Article 371J for Kalyana Karnataka's progress, CM Siddaramaiah reminded that it was the result of the relentless efforts of Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Dharam Singh, supported by the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. 'The BJP opposed this historic step. When Vajpayee was Prime Minister, Advani said that 371J was not possible,' he said. Since coming to power, the Congress government has allocated Rs 13,500 crore for Kalyana Karnataka's development, with a commitment to allocate more funds going forward. 'Due to 371J, our youth are now becoming engineers, doctors, IAS, IPS, ACs, and DCs. This is our achievement,' he said. Thanking the people of Kalyana Karnataka for electing Congress in all five Lok Sabha seats from the region, he said, 'The blessings of the people of Raichur district are always upon us. Kalyana Karnataka will remain a stronghold of Congress.' Lashing out at the BJP for 'betraying' Karnataka, he said, 'Even though they are in power at the Centre, BJP leaders have failed to correct the injustice done to Karnataka. 'I will be visiting Delhi today to demand that the injustice done to Karnataka by the 15th Finance Commission be corrected at least in the 16th Finance Commission. New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): With about two weeks remaining before the critical July 9 deadline, India and the United States face mounting challenges in finalising their Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) as the 90-day tariff pause period draws to a close. Government sources emphasised that India's national interests will remain paramount in ongoing negotiations, even as both nations work intensively to reach an interim deal before the deadline expires. The negotiations have hit significant roadblocks, with the US maintaining its demands for substantially reduced duties on American agricultural and dairy products, along with market access for genetically modified (GMO) crops. India, however, has firmly rejected these proposals, citing concerns over food security, environmental protection, and the welfare of its domestic farming sector. 'India is unwilling to compromise on GMO crops or provide broad-based access for US agricultural and dairy products,' a senior government source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. 'Our position remains clear that any agreement must serve India's strategic and economic interests first.' The American side has been particularly insistent on securing lower tariffs for its agricultural exports, viewing India's vast consumer market as crucial for its farming sector. However, Indian negotiators have expressed concerns that unrestricted access could undermine local farmers and food security frameworks. The current tariff pause, implemented 90 days ago, has provided breathing room for negotiations while preventing an escalation of trade tensions.
